Ponyville Library

Twilight Sparkle had multiple books open and was using magic to flip through all of them. All the books were old equestrian legends about powerful unicorns using an unnamed reincarnation spell to cause them to live multiple lifetimes. There's NO concrete evidence in here! None of these give any clues to if the spell even exists!

She shut three of the books and set them aside, then grabbed three more books from a nearby stack and opened them. She realized that she was getting nowhere fast, promptly smashed her head on the desk and let out a muffled scream. She heard a voice behind her "Princess! Are you all right?" she realized it was her personal guard assigned to her by Celestia, Flash Sentry. She just HAD to choose the fastest and the most overprotective, at least he follows orders to the letter and is trained in managing archives

"I'm fine, Flash. Go back to looking through the library's catalog of legends and see how many mention reincarnation. and if you find any; bring them back here"

"Yes ma'am!" And in that within the same second he said that, he was gone.

Twilight turned to Spike, who was about to take some more books off of the 'discard' stack "Hey Spike?"

The little dragon perked up "Yes Twilight?"

"Could you please get me some tea? The kind I really like when I'm frustrated" Or going through one of my cycles. . .

"Sure! I'll be back in a few minutes!" Spike said as he ran off to the kitchen.

Twilight lifted her head up again and continued reading. She stopped when one of the books mentioned a city of alicorns. She lifted the book up to look at the cover, it read The Legend of the Midnight Prince, she re-opened the book. Why. The BUCK. Did. I. Get. A. Foal's. Bedtime. STORYBOOK!? Twilight Sparkle could feel her frustration beginning to boil over.

"FLASH SENTRY!!" Twilight screamed at the top of her lungs. She heard a combination of hoofbeats and wings flapping behind her and turned towards the stairs. Yep, fast. . .

"Yes princess?"

"You brought me a foal's storybook"

"Princess. . .If I may speak?"

Twilight sighed, she would have to get that habit out of him "I asked for books containing legends about reincarnation, not for a foal's storybook, and yes, you may speak"

A nervous smile passed across Flash Sentry's face "Um. . .I do remember hearing about how you. . .predicted Nightmare Moon's reappearance and found the elements of harmony. . .or something like that. . .u-using a copy of The Mare in the Moon. . . a very popular. . . um. . . foals storybook. . ."

Twilight sat in thought for a moment. Maybe the metaphorical lighting will strike twice? Children's story books haven't failed me yet She sighed and turned towards Flash Sentry "I think you just found a lead into this investigation. Consider the rest of today your day off, Flash"

Flash Sentry's eyes widened, he had never had a day off in the guard. He bowed to Twilight "Thank you princess" he then departed from the library. Twilight was just glad to have him out. He was like if Rainbow Dash were clingy AND a doormat.

Spike brought Twilight her tea and poured a cup. "Thanks Spike"

"You're welcome" Spike departed and went back to putting books back on the shelves.

Twilight took a sip of her tea and began reading

Once upon a time, there lived a wizard, he lived with his only son. They were content studying the laws of magic. One day, the father and son met four strange wanderers, who were part of all three pony races. The wanderers explained that they were Alicorns, and were the only survivors of a catastrophe.

The wizard asked why they came to Equestria. They said to escape a pony named Tyrannus, who sought to turn them into his slaves. The wizard and his son agreed to give them shelter. The son noticed when the moon rose at night, one of the wanderers was channeling magic at the same time the moon rose. He introduced himself to the Alicorn as Seraphim, and the Alicorn introduced herself as Fengári

Twilight nearly spewed her tea everywhere. Fengári was the Nexian word for Luna! She quickly flipped to the picture of the two; Fengári looked almost exactly like Luna, and Seraphim looked exactly like Sparrow and Sombra! Twilight began taking notes as she continued to read. . . .

Canterlot: Royal Assembly

Prince Shinning Armor stood in front of an assembly of the Equestrian Royal Guard. He wore a face of sadness and his head hung low. He began his address "All of you must wonder why I had you assemble here" Many of the guards nodded. "I had you assemble here today, because a new threat to Equestria has arrived and has almost killed one of our own, Ivory Gavel" there was a few slight murmurs in the crowd. "The good news is that he's in the hooves of the best doctors in Canterlot, the bad news is that he's still in critical condition. If he dies, we must make our solemn vows to avenge him as if he were a member of our own families. He did not sacrifice himself in vain attempting to fight the threat, he managed to give me a description of the threat and the name of the threat."

Many of the guards had quizzical looks on their faces. The curtains behind Shinning Armor moved to reveal a picture of the threat; a unicorn seemingly grafted parts of a dragon, a changeling, and a pegasus onto himself, its mane crystalline "This is Lynchinus, a unicorn who claimed to have been trained by Celestia. He may or may not have been, but that doesn't mean he isn't a threat to the entire country. He could easily kill you if he catches you without any backup. Always travel in groups of three or more. You are all being dispatched to all the major cities in Equestria. Do not hesitate to use lethal force, the public may think we're a joke, but I think we were taken by surprise. And today, is the beginning of OUR COUNTERATTACK! I want THIS BUCKER'S HEAD ON A STICK!" Shinning pointed to the picture of Lynchinus.

All the guards unanimously shouted "Sir Yes SIR!" and saluted to Shinning Armor, who saluted back. The guards departed to the foyer to receive their district assignment. . .

Hear that noise? It's the Flash Sentry haters coming to crucify me for suggesting Flash Sentry exists.
It's still a stupid movement to hate a character that has the same problems as King Sombra. . .
