Equestria no wasure rareta eiyū
Volume one, Chapter two
Previous ChapterIt was very chaotic in the streets of Allure. Ponies rushing in and out, screaming for their very lives and some feinting death. No matter where they hide, the draconian undead will always find them. The royal brigade fought relentlessly with the endless undead, keeping them back in time for the innocent to evacuate. A lone draconequus stood in the crowd, trying to find what all the fuss was about. He looked left and right, above and below the crowd, only to see panic and monsters. Deciding that it was best to stay away from the battle, he scrambled to look for a safe location to clear his mind. Upon running in a random direction, the castle's tower had collapsed in the corner of his eyes. Fearing for her majesty's and Crystal's life, he rushed towards the palace on his two feet.
As he tackled down the door to the throne room, he saw what he dreaded the most. Many guards murdered in by which looks like claws and some were drained of fluids into husk. He checked every body to see if any of them were still alive. His search was beginning to prove futile until he caught sight of the royal crown on her majesty. He rushed towards the alicorn that is lying on the ground, thankfully still breathing. Crouching down and trying to pick her up only to be pushed away with weak hoofs. The alicorn queen stared straight into his eyes.
The red mane mare shook her head and pointed to one of the many hallways in the palace. "It's too late for me... but, you can still save Crystal and my daughters." After her final request, her hoof fell silently to the ground.
His body froze with tears flowing. Barely having the will to see anymore, but still carried on in a blind rush, hoping that they didn't get them too. Charging down the hall, the chimera was having many thoughts of how something like this could happen. Ignoring the many claw and scorch mark along the halls, he tripped over a broken vase embedding a shard on his lion palm. Slowly getting up, he took his time to see the damage around him.
Slam!
"What was that?" Dicrods stared at the door where the sound has come from. "I know you’re in there. Don't think I will turn my back." His muscle's tensed while he slowly approaches the door. "I will count to 3, and when I do I will open this door." He place his talon on the door knob. "One... Two..." He twist the knob. "Three!" Pulling the door back and was ready to face his opponent, he could not see their face as he was blasted by a green magic bolt and flew to the other side of the hallway.
"Dicrods?" replied a familiar voice. "Sorry i thought you were him"
Dicrods painfully shuffled back to his feet. "Go a little easy on me Crystal; I don't have magic to defend myself against it like you." He looked at his friend and tilted his head. "And pray tell do you mean by him?"
"I don't know who he is but he has some sort of powerful dark magic," replied Crystal. "He took out multiple guards in seconds and then he started chasing after us."
"Us? You mean you have the princesses here?" Dicrods limped in and saw the two alicorns, one white with a pink mane and the other light blue with a night-sky colored mane. They both have a few dirt and blood smothered on their coat and he can tell that they have cried themselves to sleep. Reaching down and playing with their hair, he smiled. "Sunny, Moony, I'm glad that you girls are safe." Frowning, he limped himself back out the door. "If what you said about his power is true, and seeing all the mess on the hallways, hiding in this room is not a safe option. We must continue to find a safer place for the princesses."
"Yes but," - Crystal's horn glows mending all of Dicrods' wounds. - "you will slow us down with all of those injuries. Let me help."
Dicrods sigh as he looks into Crystal's eyes. "Thanks Crissy."
The alicorn blushed as she levitated the fillies onto her back. "Don't think that means i have fallen for you or anything. You would do the same for me with bandages instead."
Dicrods doesn't understand what she meant about that first part, but he agrees that he too would help her if the situation was in reverse. That was what friends are for right? Or does she not see him as a friend this whole time after all they been together with Barmos until now. In that case he was happy that Crystal sees him as a friend now than never.
"Hey dragon butt," Crystal said interrupting Dicrods train of thought. "You were out there during all the commotion. Do you know any place where the monsters haven't been to?"
"Well from the looks of it, the monsters came from the east gate," replied Dicrods. "And we are located in the middle of the country with whoever is pursuing us right now. Also, every citizen here is evacuating to the north gate."
"So we go to the north gate?" she questioned while looking towards Dicrods in hope there is a better plan.
The draconequus shook his head. "No, by now, the monsters should be pursuing the citizens towards the north gate. Even with the guard's help with slowing them down and protecting us, we will be trapped if our pursuer caught up behind us. Instead we will head west and hide in the woods."
"But the woods doesn't have any territory!" his friend rejected. "We don't know what dangers there are!"
Rubbing his temple, he took his time taking in a few slow breaths. "If we head to the north gate, we risk having the princesses lost in the crowd if we caught up. If not and the monsters intercepted us, then we have a huge risk of fending them off and hoping that the multi-guard killing maniac doesn't catch us. Or we can head west with the same maniac chasing after us but we get no distractions, so we can put a huge distant between us and him... If we make it to the woods i will admit, we will be in constant danger." Dicrods turned his head towards the fillies. "At least the constant danger will be at a minimum."
Both were silent as they made it out of the palace. Moving fast and quietly, they were getting near the forest in the west. Both were smiling and ran for it.
Plop!
Dicrods look to his left to see a pegasus, not just any pegasus, but Bramos' comrade Spectrum. He rushes towards him. "Hey, you okay? Don't you dare die on me!" He placed his lion paw on Spectrum's neck only to turn pale. "No, not you too..." Tears were falling from his eyes once more as he remembers all the time Spectrum and Bramos complained about their boring guard duty.
"Tsk... Tsk... Tsk...." Dicrods turned to the sound of the voice and sees a cloaked entity on four legs. "You shouldn't be worrying about him after i am done with you. Taking you out will only be a second."
The cloaked entity blasted Dicrods with one of his legs, only to chuckle. "I'm amaze by someone of your strength will stoop so low as to save a draconequus." The entity stared threateningly into Crystal's eyes. "Come, join me and we will crush all the lesser species."
"After what you have just done, I will have to decline your kind offer," replied Crystal as she levitated Dicrods and the fillies towards the woods."
"You are no match for me." the entity boasted. "I have killed the queen after all. hmhmhmm..."
"Queen Nerlau Stauf has been ill for a few years now. She wasn't at her best." Crystal gave a fierce glare at the entity as if it was meant to kill. "There is a reason why she made me caretaker of the princesses. Now that i know i have someone to take them away somewhere safe, i can fight you with all i have!"
The entity cast a spell towards Dicrods and the princesses only to be intercepted by Crystal's magic bolt. "Dicrods! Run into the woods with the fillies and get as far away as you can and keep running! I... will hold him off."
"But!"
"No! This isn't where we say goodbye Dicrods!" Crystal looks back at him and smiled. "It's, till we meet again, i promise." At that moment Crystal was hit behind the head with small spell.
"You shouldn't turn your back on an enemy," replied the entity. "I used a weak spell. You’re lucky that you are strong, because i will have a lot of fun playing with you."
As soon as the battle started, Dicrods looked away and started to sprint deeper into the woods with the princesses on each arm. He ran and ran ignoring his body for rest. No matter how far he ran, he could still hear Crystal's battle. Running to a stop to catch his breath, he couldn't hear the battle anymore and so he fell over taking deep breaths. After a few minutes of rest he made sure the princesses are safe. Looking at their innocent sleeping face gave him a weak smile. As he stood up ,he continued to walk away from the battle. The walk was nice and calm until he heard a terrifyingly loud scream coming from a mare he knew so well, and continued sprinting deeper into the woods. At that moment on, he fully understood that his life was not going to be the same ever again.
