Chapter 3: Books Tell Tales of Their Own

Sivyer was napping under a small tree until he heard someone approach. When he opened his eyes he saw his master. Bowing in respect as the stallion drew closer. There was a short silence until the wind started to blow.

Following text is translated: Reason; too much work.

"Hello, Sivyer." The stallion said.

"I am blessed to see you once again master. How have you been doing?" Sivyer smiled at his master. "It's been two hundred years."

He nodded. "There are reasons why my friend." He explained. "I've been raising my two new foals. Their names are Celestia and Luna."

"That's wonderful master!" Sivyer laughed. "When were they born?"

"Ten years ago...I wanted to settle down...get my kindom in order from our last battle against the Lords of Chaos." The stallion walked to the left a few feet, looking out to the rising moon. "My time in this world is nearing it's end I'm afraid, and I wish to speak to you before that time comes."

"I am here master! You can tell me anything!"

The stallion smiled. "Sivyer, you have always been so kind to my wife and I, and the many a times we've rode on your back into battle....I just wish to thank you. Without you, I'm sure this war would be done, and I would be dead already."

"It is my duty to serve you!" Sivyer bowed. "To serve and protect the throne of the New Equestrian Empire! You do not have to thank me! It should be me thanking you. You gave me wisdom and not my older brother!"

His master turned and smiled. "You are wiser than him. I watched you since you were just a hatching." He said. "Do you know my name Sivyer?"

"I do not master. You told me your name was sacred to the beginning of this world."

"Do you wish to know it?" He asked. "Sivyer, do you wish to know my name?"

Sivyer thought for a moment. "I...I do, but...why do you tell me this now?"

"I've kept it from you because it would've altered your timeline, but now that you are grown, you may now know."

Sivyer stepped back. "I-I see master. I understand."

"My name is-"

"TWILIGHT!" Spike called from across the room. "After two days, and six hours, I found him. He's in my book of mythical legends. Look!" The dragon ran over and handed Twilight the book with it already open to the page.

"Sivyear, Wait? I thought his name was Sivyer?"

"That's what you told me, but keep reading."

"Sivyear, the dragon of King Luxacord. Said to be his ride into battle during the Balance War for the last two hundred years. He was seen as a foul dark dragon who...raped...and...murdered his foes." Twilight dropped the book as she rubbed her tempals. "That doesn't make any sense! I haven't seen nothing but kindness from him. Aside from the problem with Apple Jack, but he apologized for it."

"Heck if I know..." Spike sighed. "But there's more."

Twilight picked the book back up and continued to read. "He did this not only to his foes, but to his own kind. As well as: Threstrals, Unicorns, Pegasi, and Griffins. Sivyear also attacked the early settlements during the rebuilding of Equestria." Twilight felt a shiver run down her spine, and threw the book to the side.

"This...this is bad...He-He came here with a threstral! His 'daughter' might be his...slave."

"I thought slavery was outlawed when Celestia took the throne?"

"Celestia doesn't see beyond Equestria, and he's from across the Celestial Sea."

"Why don't you go ask him for the truth. You got that spell that translates anything right?"

Twilight nodded. "I do, but I don't know if it'll work Spike. I haven't heard that language before he came here." She stood up. "I'll try though. Go ahead and get back to cleaning these books up. We've got to get these ready for Celestia." Looking around the library. "I love restoration spells. Without it all the books I burned up while I was a filly wouldn't be around."

"No-no-no...all wrong. Say 'Apple' easy word to say, 'a-apple'." Apple Bloom said.

"Apple!" Frost said jumping into the air.

"Good, you're learning quickly Frost." She smiled, taking a apple out of her saddle bag. "You're next Sivyer!"

The dragon smiled. "As..you wish...Apple Bloom."

"Dad, you..are getting...better too!" Frost ran up to Sivyer, and hugged his neck. "What...is next..Apple Bloom?"

"Ah think that's all for today." She sighed. "Besides, I'm still learning too."

"We..can....learn as...one?"

"To-geth-er. Together."

"Together, we...can learn...together?"

"Maybe! But Ah've got to go to school now. See ya!"

Apple Bloom ran out the door, and passed Twilight on the way. After giving a quick wave, the small filly ran onwards. Twilight was now standing on the other side of the door. Conflicts raised within her that only Sivyer, "Sivyear" could explain. She didn't know whether to ask him or not.

She pushed herself forward through the door, and saw Sivyer playing with Frost. The pony was being held in the air with his right hand as the filly laughed hysterically. Twilight cleared her throat catching their attention. Sivyer smiled and placed Frost back on the ground. Twilight slowly approached the dragon and scanned his body.

Fluttershy had done a great job on him. His wing looked better, and his left arm was now in a cast. His horns looked no longer light orange, but a clean white. A rather impressive feat for a shy pegasus that knew nothing much about dragons.

"Welcome...Twilight..." Sivyer nodded his head at the alicorn. "I learn...New words...from small Apple pony."

"Apple Bloom?" She asked. "Oh...um...Can I ask you a question."

"Yes, Twilight..." He smiled.

"Do you know who Sivyear is?"

The dragon's smiled had dropped completely, and had turned to a face of anger. Smoke started to billow out of his nose. "Frost...go find...Apple Jack...stay...with her."

"Why dad?"

"GO!" His voice shook the building, and tools dropped from their shelves. Frost ran as swiftly as she could out of the barn. "Close...doors...silence...building...Twilight..." His voice groaned.

Twilight magically locked the doors, and a barrier formed around them.

"So, you know who he is?" Twilight asked.

Sivyer nodded slowly. "He...he...bad...I forgot...him...for...reasons." He replied slumping over. "Open...mind...Twilight..."

"What do you mean?"

"Calm...forget...surroundings..." He said limping closer to her.

"Just tell me who he is!" Twilight said teleporting to the side.

Sivyer stopped moving and more smoke flew out of his nose. "Forget...it...leave me...alone..." He laid down, a final puff of smoke left his nose. "I not...Sivyear...Twilight."

"Why can't you just tell me Sivyer?"

He lifted his head and looked at Twilight with a dead stare. "Because, secret...go..before I...hurt..you.."

Twilight felt pitty, and anger at the same time. She felt bad that he was in pain, and had just got his daughter a safe place to sleep. Yet at the same time she didn't get what she'd came for.

"A-alright..." She said as the barrier dropped, and the doors unlocked. "When you get better, make sure you don't get yourself hurt."

As Twilight left the room, Apple Jack ran in glaring at the dragon. Sivyer looked like he didn't want to be messed with, so she relaxed.

"We've all had those days buddy..." She sighed. "Frost, come on I-"

"No..." He groned. "Let her...sleep...with little...sister...Apple Jack."

"You alright partner?"

"No...now...go....please."

Apple Jack tipped her hat, and left him alone. A lone tear glid down his face as he closed his eyes. He remembered that name, a name he hadn't heard in the two thousand years he's tried to forget.

Sister looked out the window from the ground. "Master..." He went to sleep.

Twilight was starting to feel really bad about pushing Sivyer, and was lucky that she was still alive. She rubbed her neck with her hoof remembering what he'd done to Apple Jack.

"Don't..say..that..name!" His voice echoed. That was Sivyar though, she didn't understand. Who was this Sivyear? Without her realizing it she was right in front of Rarity's boutique. She thought for a moment, and decided to pay a short visit to her friend.

As she walked in the familiar sent of perfume, and the sound of the door bell ringing as she walked in. And as if on cue, Rarity walked in with a large smile.

"Oh hello Twilight!" Rarity said. "What brings you here?"

"Just lost track of where I was I guess..."

Rarity dropped her smile for more of a caring frown. "What's wrong sweetie?"

"You heard about the dragon that came in to two three days back right?"

"I do recall Fluttershy telling me about a dragon she was tending to in Apple Jack's barn with a threstral. What of him?"

"I'm afraid. He knows something he's keeping a secret. As if it were a vow...He refuses to speak it."

"I think you need to start from the very beginning Twilight, and don't leave a single thing out!" The blinds shut, and the door was locked. A stool floated over, and she sat down on it.

"Thanks Rare.." Twilight said as she began to recall out loud to Rarity of the dragon and his daughter. Rarity nodded, and frowned as she spoke. A few times she began to feel bad for him until she told her about a book she read.

Rarity was completely taken back, and nearly fainted. "Oh...oh my...And he's with a threstral?"

Twilight nodded. "Yes, but I haven't seen him do anything to her yet. I also did a scan on Frost but...she's...still a..."

"No need to say more. At least she has that in tact." Rarity interrupted. "And what of him? Did you scan Sivyer?"

"Magic doesn't work on dragons. I can only read out visible physical information." Twilight sighed heavily. "I guess I should get back to Spike, and get some rest."

Rarity hugged Twilight. "Try to get better Twilight, for the sake of both of us."

"I'll try, thanks for letting me talk to you."

Rarity stopped the embrace to smile at her friend. "Any time Twilight. I wouldn't be the element of generosity if I wasn't generous now would I?"

"I don't think so Rarity. I'll talk to when I find something out."

Twilight left, and Rarity had already begun to smile. "Rumors...are such viscous bites of poison. Even to a dragon. Let's see the truth behind that scaly heart of yours Sivyer."

"Master, why are you taking me to your castle? Wouldn't the ponies panic?" Sivyer asked.

"Not if you're with me Sivyer, and stop calling me master. You are my friend, not a slave."

"As you wish...friend."

Luxacorn smiled as he bumped into the dragon. "See, you're learning Sivyer!" He laughed.

Sivyer nodded. "Whatever you say..."

As they approached the castle two small fillies were heard playing in the garden with a small creature. Luxacorn watched with Sivyer as they splashed in the small pond.

"Celestia! Luna! Discord! Come here, I wish for you to meet a good friend of mine!" He called

"Comming!" The called back.

It didn't take them long as they flew over to them they looked up at Sivyer, as the dragon took a small step back. Lunacorn held him from going any further. Shaking his head he smiled down at the three children.

"Daddy, who's that?"

"This is my friend, Sivyer. He used to be my dragon I rode into battle with."

"And I shall let you ride until my last breath Luxacorn." Sivyer said sternly. He looked down at the kids and tried to give a smile. "And I shall let you ride on mine when you're older."

"That might not happen Sivyer." He said. "Go on and play you three. Don't get into any trouble now!"

"What do you mean?"

"Like I said, I'm nearing my death. And when that happens. I'm banishing you back to your land."

"What!?" Sivyer stopped cold. "What have I done?!"

"You must return to your land Sivyer. You are a dragon, not a pony. You don't belong here, however I will allow you to return when time has turned."

"Explain, Luxacorn."

"My daughters need to grow, without your wisdom. You were granted with everything I know. Now, it is time for you to return. Start a family...start over. I've controlled you your entire life. Live! Live my friend! Live! It is my greatest gift to you."

Sivyer bowed. "I shall return when I have a family master. As your final command." He lifted off, and flew west. All anypony could hear was the sad cry of a dragon as he returned to his home.

Celestia shout up from her bed. It was late in the night, and Luna had just walked in.

"You felt it too?" Luna asked.

"Its been a while sister." Celestia replied. "It was only a little bit, but that..that...spell...it was one father had placed."

"Indeed sister. Do you think he has returned?"

"Its been a thousand years Lulu. Surely he has a baby dragon on his own."

Luna nodded and looked out her sister's window. "The magic is old, and yet the same." Luna added. "Should I see if he is tonight? Perhaps we can see our uncle tomorrow?"

Celestia nodded. "Yes please Luna, seeing him would be a great idea. Father did tell us he was important to him, and it would be rude to not see how he is fairing in this new world."

"The new world is just as new to him, as is I, sister. I'm still learning things I haven't seen before." Luna lowered her head. "Perhaps the banishment changed him too."

"Let's hope for the better shall we?" Celestia smiled. "I shall go back to sleep now Lulu. Watch out for him, and tell me where he is when I wake up."

"Good night sister. Safe dreams..." Luna said walking out of her sister's room and closing the door behind her.
