First Game: Part 2/4

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

The batter stepped into the plate after the 5 warm-up pitches Apple Bloom threw. Golden Bullet's expression showed only a little anger, and nothing else, but in this state, he felt no pain. It first happened when he found a stallion hitting Apple Bloom in a fit of rage. As soon as he spotted this, his eyes showed a flame, and when the flame disappeared, his pupils would turn red. He knocked the stallion out in a mere amount of seconds. The pitch went to the batter and he swung and missed. The next two crossed the plate, and were fouled off, 0-2. The batter took charge again, but this time smacked it. It went above Golden's head and into right field. Storm picked it up, and threw to the cut-off colt. Apple Bloom caught notice of Golden's expression, she gulped and shivered.

"Please, nawt here." She muttered. She shook it off and went back to the mound. The next batter came up and hit a ground ball on the first pitch into the outfield. The first base runner was on third as the throw went over towards him.

Scootaloo had to be cautious with runners on first and third. She understood the trick that the runner on first could pull. He can steal second, and if she threw down, the third base runner would score. Apple Bloom got ready and delivered the pitch. Sure enough, the first base runner jogged over to second. Knowing the play, she still threw down, she facehoofed as she watched the third base runner cross the plate. Though they got one out on that first base runner, the score still increased, it would take a miracle to come back from this. She signed and looked down at first, she noted Golden's expression. His state would be their miracle.

"Lets go Apple Bloom!" Chanted Applejack from the stands next to Golden Bullet. She and the rest of her friends were sitting in the same row, but instead of the game, Twilight was noting Sulfer.

"Something doesn't seem right about that kid." She said with suspicion. "I don't play baseball, but I'm sure you can't hit a home run on a pitch so high."

"Twi, we came here to watch our team, not a new pony showin' off." Said Applejack trying to remind her friend of the field they were playing on.

The batter soon grounded to Sweetie Belle, who easily picked up the ball and tossed it to Golden. Still in his angered state, he caught the ball and turned to Apple Bloom, who was ready for him to throw it to her. Not thinking clearly, he threw the ball at Apple Bloom at a dangerously high speed. The ball caught fire before Apple Bloom could react, it rammed into her head. She spun around three times before having her eyes roll in the back of her head, and collapsing to the ground. There was a gasping noise throughout the crowd and even a lot of swearing from Applejack. The coach got up from the bench and ran out to his pitcher.

"Apple Bloom! Apple Bloom can you hear me!?" He called out to his unconscious pitcher. He started breathing fast once she noticed she wasn't breathing in a normal pace. He called for a medic to get to his aid, soon, three medics ran out from the dugout. The coach looked up at Golden Bullet, who was still unfazed. "Golden! You're out of the game!" He shouted. A bright light surrounded Golden, and he was transported to the locker room.

The coach brought in Rumble to pitch, he gave up 2 runs before getting out of the inning. The paramedics had rushed Apple Bloom to a hospital with Applejack along side her sister. The rest of the inning was uneventful as the Elements went down, one, two, three. Speedster trotted down into the locker room after Snips had gone in for him in Center Field. He took caution when approaching a shaking Golden Bullet. He got a questioned look when he heard faint sobs coming from the room. He put a hoof on Golden's shoulder and stood along side him.

"Wha-what happened out there?" He asked.

"I-I don't know! I-I couldn't control myself! It's like something else came over me!" Golden said in reply. Speedster stood there silent and turned to his locker.

"You put your own girlfriend in the hospital. Dude, you need a psychologist." He said opening his locker and taking out some bat polish.

"I... feel... awful..." Golden said in between sobs. He didn't have control over his "ability" and he knew somepony could help him somehow.

"You have every right to be!" He shut his locker and polished his bat. "Look you need to go visit Apple Bloom in the hospital ASAP. You have to apologize. You need-" He was cut off.

"I broke her neck and skull, I heard a loud crack."

The team had come back in three innings and the game was now tied, 17-17. The team was all pumped up and following Sulfer's lead, he had hit home runs in all his at bats. Golden was disgusted in the fact that he was ejected by his own coach, that was until Sulfer came to talk to him after Rumble's three strikeouts.

"Dude, I didn't want to approach you before, but I'm here know. What where you thinking?!" He shouted at Golden Bullet.

"I wasn't." Was all he could mutter as his thoughts turned to Apple Bloom possibly being dead. It made the way they met seem a whole lot more embarrasing. Before this game, he always thanked the dating site they met on.

"You could ave killed her! What's wrong with you?!" He shouted back again. Golden didn't want to start a fight.

"Listen, just stay away from me."

"No, I want answers. You attacked my girlfriend..." The rest of his words drowned out as Golden felt his "ability" about to play.

"What are you talking about?"

"Before the inning where you hit her with a 300 mph throw, she asked me to be her boyfriend." He said. Golden couldn't hold back his anger. Sweetie and Scootaloo tried to separate the two and calm Golden down, but Golden threw them aside. He trotted slowly toward Sulfer who didn't get scared by him one bit. Golden grabbed a bat from the rack and trotted toward Sulfer more, he was only a little bit scared. Everypony started screaming as Golden held the bat with all his might and loaded up. Sulfer braced for impact as Sweetie ran to grab the bat from his hooves.

"Golden no, wait!" She shouted holding on to the bat, it was a bad idea. Golden swung as hard as he could, but Sulfer moved out of the way. It was too late for Sweetie, the bat broke in half and mixed with the sound of a bone cracking in Sweetie's neck.

"GOLDEN, WHAT THE BUCK!" Shouted Speedster as he ran to comfort his girlfriend. The coach, a medic and Scootaloo joined them. Golden's eye colour turned back to normal, and it took him a second to realise what had happened. Blood started surrounding a violently shaking Sweetie Belle.

"She's having a seizure, get her to the hospital!" Shouted the medic as she was loaded on a stretcher, her and two other medics ran off.

Scootaloo looked back at Golden. "Go... away..."

"What? But I-"

"I SAID GO AWAY CELESTIA DAMNIT!" She shouted. Golden hesitated a second, but then turned angry again.

"Fine, don't expect me to come back." And with that, he ran off.
