Young Baseball
Left The Team
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe days went on as they normally do. Apple Bloom recovered, Sweetie Belle not so much, Scootaloo has been flirting with Sulfer, but something wasn't the same. Golden looked serious whenever he was spotted around the big city. He's usually the kind of colt to take baseball seriously, and slide some humour in at the same time. He was disappearing a lot more during hangouts or practices with the team, and even one time he was spotted wearing a Jersey reading "Phillies" on it.
"Who are the 'Philadelphia Phillies'? Don't you mean Fillydelphia Fillies?" His brother had asked. Golden just gave a short mutter and ran away, faster than usual. It confused his team and worried his girlfriend. What was wrong with Bullet?
The sun peaked in on Speedster's window, revealing his clock, dresser, desk, baseball equipment, a few "speed" trophies, and his bed. Speed cracked his eyes open enough to see the clock, it read 8:00 p.m.
"Oh crap!" He shouted as he sprung out of bed. He struggled to get into his uniform and shine his cleats before the game started without him. He finished getting dressed and rushed out the door.
"My equipment!" He said before rushing back through the door and getting his equipment and leaving the room once again. Today was the semi-finals against Manehattan.
"Bullet!" He shouted down the hallway only to get no answer. He ran down the hall and stopped on a door which had a poster of the Fillydelphia Fillies and their star pitcher, Cliffhanger. He opened the door slowly at first, but then he put full force on it, causing it to slam into the wall. He was surprised to see nopony there, his bed was made. Did he never come home last night? Just then he heard a knock on the door.
"Speedster, honey, your friends are here for you."
"Coming mom!" He shouted down, he quickly ate a piece of toast his mom had made for him, but not the rest of his breakfast, brushed his teeth, put on deodorant, and ran back down, not even drawing a breath.
Apple Bloom, Scootaloo, and Sulfer were standing there with all their equipment. All except Sulfer were surprised that Speedster wasn't even out of breath after running around the house.
"How ain't ya tired?" Apple Bloom asked.
"Well, I run everyday. I'm prone to not being tired. Now let's wait for that teleporting thingy." Speed said, but broke when he heard Apple Bloom ask.
"Wait a darn minute, where's Golden Bullet?"
"I- I don't know. He never came home." That was the last thing heard before the group was surrounded in white light. Speedster was surrounded by blackness for a second, and then suddenly regained his senses as he appeared in the dugout of the huge Manehattan field.
"Wait, he never came back?" Apple Bloom asked as Scootaloo followed Sulfer inside like a puppy would follow its owner.
"No, he wasn't in bed. In fact, it was well made." Speed said as Manehattan appeared in their dugout. Several scouts were behind home plate (in the crowd) with clipboards, ready to make decisions on who to pick for a more advanced league.
"Alright, everypony listen for the line-up!" The members of the team stopped what they were doing and listened.
Here was the line-up:
- Speedster CF
- Snips 2B
- Sulfer P
- Scootaloo C
- Storm Fortis RF
- Rumble 3B
- Apple Bloom 1B
- Button Mash SS
- Snails LF
Bench:
Dinky Doo RF/3B
Featherweight SS
~~Golden Bullet P/1B/3B~~
"Wait, why is Golden Bullet crossed off?" Scootaloo asked.
"He said he was signed to another team." The coach said.
Scootaloo raised a brow and looked at Speedster. She trotted over to him.
"Do you know where he went?" She asked.
"No, but he said he'd be at the game." Speed replied.
"Psst, Speedy." A pony whispered. There was only one pony who called him that. He turned around to see that Sweetie Belle was in a wheelchair. Her sister, Rarity, was pushing it with her magic.
"Sweetie Belle? What are you doing here?" He asked with shock and confusion.
"I got an early recovery, so here I am. I'm still not eligible to play for another week." She said disappointed.
"I don't care, I'm glad you're here." Speed said embracing Sweetie Belle. Sweetie Belle heard Rarity give out an "Aww". Quite frankly, she didn't care.
"Well, y'all are makin' it a lot harder not to think 'bout Golden Bullet." Apple Bloom said, annoyed. Scootaloo put a hoof around her.
"Hey, don't sweat it. Golden loves baseball, he loves this team, not to mention he loves us. He'd never miss out on a game. But why would he leave the team?" She said.
"Oh, Golden stopped by last night at the hospital." Sweetie started. Apple Bloom gasped.
"What'd he say?" She said, anxious.
"He said, and I quote: 'Tell the team that I won't be playing for them anymore, I am on another team now." Sweetie Belle said.
"What team?" Scootaloo asked.
"He said... the 'Philadelphia Phillies'."
