Chapter 1 - The Incident

Sleep... Sweet, wonderful sleep... Oh how I love it.

*BZZT BZZT BZZT*

Screw you, alarm... Need more sleep...

*BZZT BZZT BZZT*

Stirring from my slumber, I flicker open one eye and stare vengefully at the culprit of my premature awakening.

"I hate you," I mumble, rubbing sleep from my eyes. "I actually friggin' hate you."

Pulling my duvet from my body, I roll to the left and sit there for a minute as I turn off the alarm on my bedside drawer, causing whichever CD I had in to begin playing. In This Moment, a great way to start the day.

Standing, I walk to the Black chest of drawers in front of me. I pull out my underwear and pull them on, then turn to my built in wardrobe and browse the vast collection of Jeans and band/music shirts. I finally decide on the black drainpipes, the Pearl Jam shirt, and my Union Flag Converse. Turning slightly to look in the mirror at the foot of my bed, I look and give a half hearted smile. Same Pale skin, Same slim but broad build, same black shoulder length mullet with red highlights. One thing you'll learn about me is that I love to make a statement about myself.

Enough of the self-admiring. time for breakfast. Turning the stereo off, I leave my room, closing the door slowly so my parents don't bitch about the mess I live in. Looking left, I hear my parents still kicking out the Zzz's, at which I'm grateful for. I could do without the lecture of 'Coffee and a Crumpet isn't breakfast' today. I slink past their room, past my Gran's, and into the bathroom where I Gel my hair on top in a mess of spikes. After washing my hands I slunk down the stairs, and drag myself into the Kitchen to flick on the kettle and drop a crumpet in the toaster. As a chef, I really should know better and eat something proper, but when you cook for a living - even if I only make desserts and pastries - it puts you off eating.

Pouring the water into the cup of instant coffee and sugar, I take a big breathe of the distinctive odour.

"Oh sweet black nectar of the gods, you really are my best friend." I Chuckle at the silliness of my words, and butter the freshly popped crumpet.

Turning, I sit at the large , wooden 8 seat table my Gran insisted we buy, even though there is very rarely more than four of us eating. I switch the radio on to Kerrang and turn it low so as to not wake everyone else in the house. As the sound of Stone Temple Pilots fills my ears, I go through a quick mental checklist of the day.

Go to work
Put up with arseholes at work
Go to the bar for beers with the band guys.
Stumble home and crash out.

In all fairness, I love my job. I just hate the other people who work there. Finishing off my breakfast, I dunk my cup and plate in the bowl, turn the radio off and head out of the door, and nearly slipping on the wet decking outside. Then actually slipping.

"FUCK!" I shout as I fall flat on my back. From an outsiders point of view, it would be highly amusing, like something from a Jon Hughes film.

Standing, I lock the door and head down the drive, through the gates, and down the street towards the bus stop for the 1 hour journey to work. I take a quick glance at my watch. 06:55. Shit, the bus will be here soon. I sprint down the path, just in time to see my bus leave the stop.

"NO!" I scream, flailing my arms like a mad man, but to no avail. It's gonna be one of those days.

The sweet sound of beer bottles in a toast. The best sound I've heard all day.

"CHEERS!" we all shout in unison. I look around my friends and smile.

Ash. Our front man and Rhythm guitarist. A goofy kinda guy with a look of G-Man from Gmod.

Amy. The Bassist. She's Ash's girl, and a hell of a looker. Long, curly dirty blonde hair, soft features, and a heart of gold.

Joe. The drummer. He's the nutter who gets us into arguments and fights with other people. Wherever we are. But, a great guy and will stand up for anyone he cares for and, though he will never admit it, he cares for all of us deeply.

Then there is me, the quiet guy in the band who just stands and plays. I play Lead Guitar.

Taking a huge glug of the bitter-sweet beer, I take a look around the bar. Décor that is in dire need of updating, old easy listening songs play in the background, making the hum of other conversations bearable, there's a distinct smell of stale beer lingering along with the smell of old cigarettes, even though the smoking ban has been in place for 6 years, and the carpet sticks underfoot. Just our kind of bar.

As our conversation flows, I can't help but feel watched. I peer at a group of, let's face it, Chavs stood at the bar, giving us all weird looks. Must be the blatant Rocker vibe we all give from our appearance. Amy is a full on Goth, Joe has hair to rival Amy's in length, and ash is littered in ink and has snakebite piercings on his lower lip.

"...eided that we're gonna cover some EndeverafteR tracks. You in connor?" No reply... "CONNOR!" Ash shouts, giving my arm a shake. I shake my head and take swig.

"yeah, cool" I mumble, though I have no idea what I'm agreeing to.

*Several Bottles of beer and whiskey doubles later*

We all stumble out of the doors, with no reguard for the people in the houses around who will no doubt be sleeping.

"HAVE SHEKSH! WITH EVERY FEMALE OF TH' SHPESHES YOU SHEEE!" I sing loudly, with a major slur of words, everyone else dying from laughter apart from Amy.

"THE END ISH NEEEAARR! S-SO DONTYA WORRY BOUT THE HIV!"

"Connor! please calm down!" Amy tries to reason. Listening to her, I lower my tone.

"shorry... anyone fancy a kebab"

Ash answers for the rest of the group. "We've got a taxi mate, see ya later, yeah?" nodding, I fist bump everyone and stagger down the road.

My head is swimming and my stomach is doing somersaults. I drop into an alleyway and collapse, vomiting into a bin. I hear a slight crunch of autumn leaves behind me and, suddenly, adrenaline removes the effects of the alcohol as I spin around, just in time to see a group of bodies lunge at me. Slammed against the wall, I try and free myself, but to no avail. I look up, and stare my captor in the eyes, filled with such hate and resentment, for seemingly nothing. That is when I noticed an intense, burning pain in my abdomen. looking down, I see the thug twisting a blade, shoved to the hilt inside of me. I look back and realise its the same group from the bar. In amidst the pain, I struggle one word.

"w-why?" the man looked at me with a blank expression and simply answers,

"Because you're Rocker scum." and, with that, he pulls the knife from my body, and lets me slump to the floor in a pool of my own, warm crimson blood.

I watch them leave, clutching the wound. looking at my hands, I see them covered in blood, and some pieces of internal organs from where he'd twisted his blade. I begin Coughing violently, causing even more blood to leak from my mouth.

Slipping from consciousness, my vision becoming burred, I cant help but to see a pale blue aura slowly start to grow around me.

center]*MEANWHILE, IN EQUESTRIA*[

Luna's bright white eyes flicker, as she returns to the waking world. Concerned with what she has seen, she summons her sister to the room. The giant, heavy doors swing open and Princess Celestia rushes in, to see a distressed Luna curled up on her bed.

"what is it, Luna?" Luna, who is quite shaken with what she has witnessed, looks to her big sister with tear-filled eyes. I... I have seen a world, unlike any other, whilst in my slumber. I saw something, I believe it male, being attacked, and... and..." she looks away, closing her eyes "M-Murdered..."

Celestia simply nuzzles Her younger sibling. "I see"

"I want to bring him here." Luna Blurts out. completely taken aback, Celestia shakes her head.

"Luna, you've just seen a creature kill another of its kind for no apparent reason, and you want to bring one here?"

"HE'S DYING, TIA!" Luna screams, "I CAN'T LET HIM DIE!" realising there is no reasoning with her, Tia accepts and nods.

"very well. we shall bring him here." Luna's face lights up. "but," She continues, "he must be held captive until he is deemed not a hazard to Equestria. Understood?" Luna nods her head, and wraps her hooves around her big sister.

"thank you, Tia." And, with that, they cross their horns, combining their magic for the complicated spell to take place.
