13th anniversary of the return of Princess Luna

10th anniversary of the disappearance of the three princesses

7th anniversary of the Battle of Ponyville

6th anniversary of the Treaty of Remembrance

10 years. Has it already been 10 years? It seems only yesterday that I was performing for Princess Luna herself; only yesterday that Princess Celestia applauded my acting as Starswirl the Bearded; only yesterday that Princess Cadence asked for my autograph in exchange for her’s. 10 years. how Equestria has changed in these last 10 years. 10 years ago war was a foreign concept. 10 years ago prejudice was an unknown word. 10 years ago the Elements of harmony were a symbol of peace.

But things are different now. Now the Elements of Laughter and Generosity are all that keep us on even ground with the forces of Utopia. Now foals are born into a world where war has been raging for 7 years. Now every unicorn in Equestria must actively fight against Discord’s influence. Even now, when I’ve been fighting against Utopia for 7 years, I still feel that urge to betray Equestria and join them. I’m one of the last unicorns left fighting for Equestria; the rest are blinded by Discord’s magic to the point that they don’t even realize that he’s there. I muse again upon the irony of the naming of the forces controlled by the Lord of Chaos and Disharmony: “Utopia”.

Yes, these 7 years have been hard on everypony. It will no doubt get even harder now that their top spy has been found out. 6 years of working my way up in the ranks of Utopia down the drain! I barely escaped with my life! If my coat and mane weren’t so dark, I probably wouldn’t have escaped at all.

So now, here I sit, a discovered spy waiting to be reassigned. Meanwhile, all I can do is sit here and reminisce about the good old days time before the war. (Nopony under 40 should ever say “the good old days”.) I hope I get reassigned soon. Just sitting around all day is killing me! I wish I’d gotten back sooner so I could have joined the Crusaders on their scavenging mission to the ruins of Canterlot. Oh well, I guess I’ll see them in a few days when they return, as long as Scootaloo doesn’t get them into trouble again.
