Chaper 2: A Strange, New World
When I regained my consciousness I noticed the ground underneath me, it wasn't the normal flooring of my house. It felt much harder. Curious as to where I was, I opened my crimson eyes. The first thing I noticed is that I was on.... the top of a building? As my wonder grew I began to look around at my surroundings.
There were a lot of buildings like the ones in Canterlot. But the things that stood out the most were the giant clock tower that was a hundred times bigger than the one in Ponyville, with large hands along it's massive ornate clock face. Then there was the massive bridge over the just as enormous river, with a giant Ferris just off the side that could easily be the biggest I've seen in my lifetime. After being awestruck I noticed that there were things moving around on the streets below, these weird bipedal creatures that reminded me of the creatures that Lyra had described to me. I think she called them hoomans, humus, hunans...humans! I giggled as the memories of Lyra's speech about them came to mind. Although these humans looked a little different from what she described.
As I look down over the street, I had leaned in a bit closer to get a better view of these humans. They looked so strange and scary yet at the same time.....comforting. I noticed that I was pretty high up and that they must be really tall, probably taller than Princess Celestia. I wanted to get a closer look at them, so I leaned in just a bit more to get a bit of a better view. Soon after doing that I heard a loud noise come from behind me that made me jump and lose my grip on the side, next thing I knew I was over the edge and falling.
The second I was over the edge I closed my eyes, causing my fall to feel like forever. When I finally hit the ground.... It was soft for some odd reason, softer than I thought it would be. When I opened my eyes to see what I had landed on, there were two humans on both sides of me that looked like they were carrying the thing I landed on. I was so scared that I immediately began to run past the group of humans that had gathered around to look at what all the commotion was.

(Serah's POV)
It was a wonderful day today, and it was my first day off this month. I always had my little secret hideout on the roof of my apartment building. The view was perfect from my relaxing spot. I got to see the English channel and watch the boats pass through, and got to see the London Eye spin in it's stationary position. When I opened the door to my special get away, I stopped dead in my tracks as I noticed something that made me do a double take. 'Is that a.......pony?' Then I noticed something that surprised me that much more. 'Are those......batwings?'
The moment I realized that I wasn't hallucinating from over exhaustion, I dropped the pack of water I was holding. As it hit the ground it made a loud *BANG* noise as it started its tumble back down the metal stairs. The second I heard the noise, so did the pony that was leaning dangerously over the edge of the building looking down at the streets below. I screamed in horror as I saw the pony suddenly lose its balance and tumble over the edge to the street below. I ran to the edge as fast I could. When I looked down I noticed that the pony had survived the fall by luckily landing on a mattress two workers were carrying.
Almost immediately, the pony had gotten back up and began to run down the road in the direction of an old construction site. I ran as fast I could down the stairs to the ground floor. Outside where the poor pony had fallen were a group of reporters and the people that were moving the mattress. My only guess is that they were talking about the pony that fell on them not moments ago. But that didn't matter to me as I ran to where I last saw the pony trotting off to.

(Melody's POV)
As soon as I cleared the crowd, I headed to what reminded me of a construction site. As I ran to it, I hoped it was abandoned so I could hide from everything. As the adrenaline wore off I began to feel so weak and tired and I wished this was just a big nightmare and I would wake back up in my bedroom. I had to stop to catch my breath from all the running I just did. After a few moments, I heard a noise behind me and I fell silent, hoping that I was just imagining the sound.
Suddenly I heard a loud crashing sound followed by somepony cursing before they began running again. I turned my head in the general direction of the noise to see if whatever made that sound was following me. When I looked back I saw a human coming towards me, so I began to run again. Little did I know there was a large wall in front of me and when I turned my head back to the front to see where I was going, I collided with the wall and for the second time today, blacked out.
(Serah’s POV)
After I got to the site I saw the pony with wings panting a few meters away. I started to walk closer, but stubbed my toes on a metal pipe and cursed out loud. The pony must have heard me because it started running again. It looked back towards me with fear filled eyes, as it turned its head around and it took off, but failed to notice the large brick wall in front of it as it collided with it at what appeared to be its top speed. The poor thing hit the ground almost immediately, probably knocked out from the collision. As I ran over to it I saw a small amount of blood and a gash on its head. When I knelt down next to it something else caught my eyes, 2 pairs of fangs mixed in with its teeth. I pondered for a moment as I pieced everything together. Bat wings, fangs, what's next?
I didn’t know how to react but I did know one thing, I can’t leave it here. It’s too dangerous for something so strange and fragile to be out here alone. I carefully picked the sleeping bat-pony thing up into my arms and headed for my apartment. Trying to avoid as much attention as possible, I took to the alley ways and entered the apartment buildings back entrance.
After sneaking through the back and going up the emergency stairwell, I made it to my floor and walked over to my apartment.
I unlocked the door and walked in, setting the pony down on the floor and slipping a pillow under her chin. I walked back to the door closing it and securing the deadbolt, returning to the pony on my floor with a bandage in hand, I quickly wrapped up the wound on her head. After finishing, I pulled out my phone and tried to call one of my friends but all I got was her voicemail, so I hung up the phone and put it down on my dresser in my bedroom. I then sat myself down in a chair and played the waiting game...

(Melody's POV)
I awoke with a small gasp and began to realize that I wasn't at the construction site anymore. I panicked and looked around and I noticed that there was something on my head. I didn’t know what it was, but it was really soft. I raised a hoof to touch my forehead to figure out what this thing was, but before I could touch it, a voice that sounded like it belonged to a mare came from behind me
"Oh, good, you're awake." A relieved voice let out.
I quickly turned around and saw a tall human. She looked like the human I saw chasing me before I ran head-first into a wall. I’m guessing she’s a female because of the tone of her voice.
"Can you understand me?" She asked, a hint of concern in her voice as I tilted my head.
I nodded slowly receiving a small, feminine squeal from the human. She started to walk towards me but stopped dead in her tracks as something started ringing in the other room.
"I'll be right back, okay?" she told me in a hurried tone, I simply nodded so she could walk out of the room. When she walked into the other room where the ringing was coming from, it was quickly replaced with her saying:
“Hello?”
Wondering what was going on, I slowly got up and made my way over to where the human had gone. When I arrived in the doorway, I looked at her and the human was talking into something I had never seen before. Something that looked brick shaped but made of a weird colorful glass...
(Serah's POV)
As I began to walk to the batpony I asked. “Do you understand me?” I was hoping against all odds that it would. Seeing it give me a nod at me was reassuring. But then my phone decided to be an ass and ring. I looked at the door to my bedroom knowing that it was in there.
“I’ll be right back, okay?” seeing it nod again, I hurried into my room and grabbed my phone from atop the dresser.
When I looked at who was calling I saw that it was Gracie, and immediately got a little bit excited at the thought of help. I called her a little over an hour ago when I got the batpony into the house.
I answered the phone and quickly said, “Hello?”
“Hey Serah, it’s Gracie. I saw that you called earlier and decided to call back when I got home from work.”
“Oh hey Gracie, how was work?”
“Hard!”
“Ok, well I understand that you want to just relax then, but I need your help with an animal.”
“Don’t tell me you started collecting stray dogs or something.”
“No, no. It’s…..different. Just please hurry and get over here.”
“Ok, I got some tools at the house to help. I just got to grab them and I’ll be on my way.”
“Thank you Gracie, bye.”
“Bye!”
---»15 minutes later«---
I was sitting on my chair, watching the pony poke the bandage I had put on its head while wrapped up in a blanket I gave her earlier, when I heard a knock on my door.
“Who is it?”
“It’s me Serah.” Gracie said sarcastically through the door.
I got up quickly and jogged over to the door, as I opened it I greeted my friend.
“Hi Gracie, I’m sorry to bug you after work but I really need help with this.”
“It’s no big de-…”
I looked at Gracie as her jaw dropped and her brow climbed her forehead. When the pony noticed Gracie it jumped and looked like it wanted to hide and disappear.
“Serah……How did you get a pony, in the middle of the city?”
“I found her.”
“Where and when!?” Gracie asked frantically with a confused expression.
“Earlier today, I found her on the roof of the complex.” I replied honestly.
“How the hell did she get up there without anybody’s help!?” Gracie exclaimed.
“Maybe with these.” I said as I walked over and lifted the blanket off the pony, revealing its wings. Once again Gracie’s jaw dropped and her eyes shot wide open. All was silent until Gracie broke the silence.
“What. The. Flying. Living. Fuck...”
