Celestia smiled as she gave Luna a piercing stare. Luna nervously shuffled her feet, smiled akwardly, and replied,
"Just- uh, going to the library!"
"The library? Funny, you son't go there often. What interests you so now?"
"Uh- uh, I just wanted to read some uh, adventure books! Like uh- Daring Do!"
Luna blushed and looked down. Celestia chuckled, and walked over to her young sister. Raising a hoof, she gave Luna a noogie, laughing loudly. "Hey!" Luna yelled, attempting to grab at her sister. Falling over, both Princesses laughed so loudly that it caused the guards by the doors to stare at them accusingly.
Wiping a tear from her eye, Celestia told Luna to go. Her sister smiled a kind smile, turned, and raced off. No sooner had she left the sight of her sister's gaze her smile turned wicked, her eyes narrowing mischievously. Trotting to the library, she found the doors were already open. Quietly sneaking inside, she wondered who was in here. She got her answer as she toppled face-first into a large pile of books that were being held up by magic.
"Oh! Princess Luna, I didn't see you there! Here, let me help you up!"
It was the newest Princess of Equestria, Twilight Sparkle, originally a unicorn. Luna smiled, and said it was alright. She helped Twilight stack up her books again.
"So what are you doing here, Twilight?" she asked.
"Oh, just picking up a few books to read!" she pointed a hoof to one of the books, The Shining Suns of Night. "It's a romance novel," she explained, "The series is really good! Would you like me to lend you one?"
Luna smiled and shook her head. "No, that's alright." Replying with an 'Okay, see you!', Twilight wandered off to another section of the library, humming as she went. Princess Luna opened her blue wings, gave them a few warm-up flaps and soared to the top of the library. She then flew to a dusty corner, where nothing but a single, empty bookcase stood. Sneezing, she managed to blow the dust off of a thick book at the bottom of the bookcase. Crouching down, she crawled to it, blinking constantly and coughing queitly as the massive amount of dust on the floor flew up into her face.
Slowly, reaching down with her hoof, she tried to remove it. Instead, the bookcase turned, slid into the wall, and revealed a stone pedestal, holding the thickest and most dusty book Luna had ever seen. Getting back up onto her feet, she cautiously reached for the book. She shuddered when she came in contact with it, not sure why. Opening the book to the first page, it read, 'The Secretes of Eaquestria. She hadn't noticed the title on the cover because of the thick layer of dust on it. Flipping through the book, she found pages and pages of ancient runes, hoof-written scribbles and lines that seemed to have been crossed out and rewritten in runes again. Then, somewhere in the middle of the book, there was something written in the alphabet of the current time. It read, 'Summonn: Daerk Magik'. Curious, she tried to read the runes, with no luck.
Then she an idea.
A dangerous one.
One her sister no anypony else should know about.
She was going to summon King Sombra.
To see if it really was true that he couldn't come back. If the spell worked, she would prove that he was still a threat to Equestria. Not wanting anypony to realize she had discovered the book, she closed it and stepped back as the bookcase slid back into the room, concealing the pedestal and book. Flying back down to the ground floor, she retrieved an old piece of blank parchment, a quill and some ink. She copied down the page that had interested her, and created a plan. First, she would trick Twilight into reading the runes, summon Sombra, knock her out and kill Sombra, getting rid of him for good.
"Oh, hello, Princess Luna. What brings you here?"
Shining Armor smiled, but it quickly faded at the sight of Luna's serious face. "I have traveled to the Crystal Kingdom in search of your best blacksmith. I require some, let's say, special items." She stared at him. Raising his eyebrow, Shining Armor replied,
"Uh, okay. Is there use in asking why?"
"No."
"Thought so. Well, allow me to escort you to our grandest black smith, Wyld Fyre. He's kind of, different. You'll see when you meet him."
"Continue forth, then."
Soon, the entered the smith's workshop. "Wyld Fyre," Shining Armor called. The head of a stallion poked out of a doorway. "Oh, it's you," he said, entering the room. Wyld Fyre was a very strange pony indeed. His mother was a dwarf dragon, his father a noble stallion. As a result, he was a mixed breed, with the head and mane of a pony, body and tail of a dragon, and different pony and dragon pupils. His mane was made up of dual colors, all smashed together with a surprisingly good look. The noticeable colors were a shocking yellow and a deep orange, but occasionally the colors changed into a deep crimson. His eyes were green as emeralds. His scale-covered body was a light red, the spikes of his tail orange, tipped with the same yellow in his mane. He could be considered as a pegasus, as he had wings, but they were dragon ones.
"Who are you?" he asked, staring wide-eyed at Luna.
"I am Princess of the Night, Princess Luna. You've heard of me?"
"Oh! Apologies, Princess. How may I be of service to you?"
"I require some items. I'd like to speak with you alone, though."
Shining Armor nodded his understanding and left. "So, whatcha need, Princess?" Wyld Fyre asked. Luna stepped a few feet forward. Opening her saddlebag, which she had been carrying, she used her horn to remove a large sack. She dropped it in front of Wyld Fyre, and it opened, revealing tons and tons of bits. "This is sufficient to keep you quiet?" she asked. Eyes wide as dinner plates, the dragon pony nodded.
"Good. I need you to create for me the strongest armor and weapons you have ever made before." "I have the necessary ingredients," she added. Reaching inside her saddlebags again, she pulled out ingots of a glowing, strange white stone. "Moonstone," she replied, "the strongest material for armor in Equestria."
"O-okay, I suppose I should start, then," Wyld said, taking the moonstone from Luna. He trotted over to his forge and began creating the things Luna asked for. Very soon, large beads of sweat appeared on his forehead and slid down his face. He created works of art, shaping, smashing and re-shaping. Finally, he finished the armor set. He had created a helmet that was to fit snugly on the Princess' head, encrusted with a large sapphire encased in the front. He also made a marvelous chest plate, also bearing sapphires. Finally, he had forged shoes which contained spikes at the bottom.
"What weapon would you like me to craft, Princess?" he asked, exhausted.
"Hmm. I think a good sword would be fine."
"Of course, Princess."
With that, he set back to the forge. After a seemingly long time, he had created a splendid blade, sleek and thin, with a handle shaped like a crescent, and a moon that seemed to glow in the curve of it. "Your work is pleasing, smith," Luna said. Wyld Fyre grinned, wiping away sweat with his scarred and callused hoof. Placing the items into her saddlebag, (which seemed to have an Enlargement spell on it) she turned and left, flying back to her castle.
She found Twilight outside, reading one of the books she had grabbed from the library. It was the one Twilight Sparkle had offered her, 'The Shining Suns of the Night'. "Oh, hello again, Luna!" she said, looking up from her book as she heard the sound of flapping wings and hooves hitting the hard ground.
"Twilight. I need your help."
