It was a few days after the fall of Tirek. Twilight lay in her new bed, thinking about the recent events. When the princesses gave Twilight all their power, she had no idea how to control it all. She was eager to learn the ropes of controlling and using such great force. Deciding that sleep wasn't an option, Twilight got out of bed and looked for a book on combining magic. After looking for hours and finding nothing, Twi threw the book across the room and groaned.
"There's nothing here that tells me how to combine magic!" Twilight yelled to nobody in particular.
"Still trying to combine magic, huh? Talk to Celestia. She is the one who gave you the extra juice."
"Yeah, you're right! I'll go to in the morning."
"Uh Twilight? It is morning." Spike said pointing out the window at the rising sun.
"Oh. Crap. I'm going back to bed."
At about two in the afternoon, Twilight woke up and bolted to the train station as soon as possible. She didn't want to waste any time getting there, either. When she reached the ticket booth she bought her ticket and got on the train as fast as possible. When she reached her seat, she sat down and pulled out one of her novels and read the whole way there.
"Next stop, Canterlot Station!" the conductor yelled. Twilight closed her book and put it in her backpack she brought from home. Once the train came to a complete stop, Twilight got off and ran strait to Celestia's castle.
"Twilight, what a splendid surprise. What brings you to Canterlot?"
"Well...I've been thinking. When Tirek was becoming a threat to you, Cadence, and Luna, you gave me your magic. During this time, I had to raise and lower the moon and the sun. I was pretty bad at that. Also, I could fly faster than Rainbow Dash, and stuff like that. What I'm saying is, I want to learn how to control all that power."
"You want me, Luna, and Cadence to give you our power again, so you can learn how to control it. I think that can be arranged. There are a lot of things that could go wrong, but I'm sure you can surpass them as long as you stay focused. We'll do these trials at the Crystal Empire, since we'll need Cadence. I'll tell Spike, too." Celestia said. "Do you want to leave today?"
"Yes!" Twilight squeaked with joy.
"Okay then. I need to get Luna, so take these bits and buy train tickets to the Crystal Empire for the nine o'clock train." Celestia said handing Twilight the bits.
Twilight left the castle and proceeded to the train station and bought three tickets and sat on a bench. She looked at the clock. '8:32' is what it read. "I hope they aren't late." She said to herself. A few moments later, Luna and Celestia walked through the door, two members of the Royal Guard at their side.
"Hello Twilight. Ready to go? Train's here." Celestia said pointing outside to the passenger train.
"Yeah I am! Is Cadence alright with this, because I don't want to do it if you all don't want to." Twilight asked.
"She said she would do it, no questions asked." Celestia said.
"Let's get on the train, sister. It leaves soon." Luna said.
On that, the three alicorns got on the train and went to the sleeping cars. It would take all night to reach the Crystal Empire and they all needed energy for the next day.
"Next stop, Crystal Empire!" the conductor yelled. He woke up all passengers in the sleeping cars and proceeded back to the front of the train.
"Everybody up?" Twilight asked. Luna walked into the room from the back of the train. She hardly sleeps at all. Celestia rose slowly yawning.
"Yes." Celestia responded as she stretched her wings.
Once the train stopped at the station, the alicorns exited the train and went to the castle. They went up to the main room and were greeted by Cadence and Shinning.
"So you want to learn how to control all the extra magic? Well we might as well started." Cadence said.
"You sure you can handle it all, sis?" Shinning asked
"Of course I can!" Twilight said slugging her brother in the arm.
"Lets begin. Everybody ready?" Celestia asked. "Okay, let's begin."
Luna, Cadence, Twilight, and Celestia all rose from the floor. Twilight was slowly gaining more and more power as the seconds went on, and soon enough Twilight had all of the magic. Almost all of it. Celestia kept a small amount in case of an emergency.
"Okay, Twilight since the moon is still up, you need to lower it and raise the sun." Luna said in a weak tone.
Twilight focused her magic at the moon and tried to lower it. It shakily began to move down, but after a few seconds she gave up and the moon went back into it's normal position.
"I c-can't" Twilight said, the magic rapidly pulsing through her body.
"Yes you can, put more effort in containing your magic and focus harder on the moon." Luna said.
Twilight tried again, doing exactly what Luna had said, and the moon went down slowly but surely.
"I-I did it!" Twilight said leaping with joy.
"Good, now you must raise the sun." Celestia said. "Do what you just did, but focus on the sun. And try to keep it steady as possible."
Twilight did just that and the sun came up much steadier than she had thought.
"Good job, Twily!" Shinning said.
"Yes, very good job. You have a lot to learn, though. Lets continue, shall we?" Celestia said.
The day went very fast for Twilight. She had learned a lot about controlling such power. She went through The Crystal Empire's library doing a bunch of long and complicated spells. It was now time to lower the sun and raise the moon.
"Okay Twilight, See if you can lower the sun and raise the moon smoothly and swiftly." Celestia said.
Twilight focused her magic on the sun and lowered it with ease. She then raised the moon, again with no trouble at all.
"Great job Twilight! It's getting late. We'll continue our training tomorrow." Celestia said.
"I'm going to the library for a couple hours to study some more." Twilight said.
"Okay, but don't stay up too late. Also watch out for what spells you cast." Celestia said.
"Will do, princess." Twilight said as she ran to the library. When Twilight entered the library, she realized she was alone. "Ah, what a great studying environment. Peace and quiet, just like I like it." Twilight said as she gathered spell books. She was going down the line of books until she came across an old dusty book. She pulled it out and blew off the dust. On the cover read Advanced and Magic were the only two words she could make out. She went to a table and sat down, setting the book gently on the table. She opened it up and saw a few rather odd spells like Resurrection spells and what not. Then she came across a power enhancement spell. "This should be perfect! I will be able to learn so much faster!" Twilight said. Little did she know that that spell was only to be used once and would have dire consequences if used a second time. Then Twilight read "WARNING: Must not be used-" the rest of the sentence was faded beyond being read. "It probably says not to use it too much." Twilight thought aloud. She began to cast the spell and as she did, she felt the power build. She grew taller, much taller than Celestia, and her mind began to fade. When the spell is cast twice, it opens a portal for dark souls to corrupt the vulnerable mind. When Twilight cast the spell, she had no time to react before dark souls took her mind from her. She began to feel like she should be in charge.
"I am much more powerful this way. Equestria should be mine!" Twilight yelled as dark power built up inside her. Soon she grew enraged and let out a scream so loud all of Equestria could hear it, not to mention the residents of the Crystal Empire. Twilight burst out the doors of the library, utterly destroying them, and ran off out of the Empire into the harsh tundra that surrounded the city. Luna was watching from a balcony above and ran to her sister and Cadence to tell them.
"Sister!" Luna yelled at the distraught princess who sat up in bed.
"No need to tell me. I already know. I saw it in a vision." Celestia muttered. She knew she was unable to stand up against Twilight when she had little magic. "I need to send an emergency message to one of Twilight's friends in Ponyville. I need one who is eligible for whatever is thrown at her. Without Twilight, the Elements of Harmony are useless. I need to make a wise decision on who I should get.
"You should get someone who can fly, so she can travel fast." Luna said.
"I will call out to Rainbow Dash. Her loyalty and bravery might just be what we need." Celestia said.
"Are you sure? You can only send one message." Luna asked hesitantly.
"She is probably the best one to call out to, I have no other option." Celestia said. She began to write a letter:
Dear Rainbow Dash,
Come to the Crystal Empire as soon as possible. It is a dire emergency involving Twilight. Come alone, and prepare for anything. I will inform you if and when you arrive.
Sincerely, Princess Celestia
