Where am I? Who am I?

I groan loudly as a response, my head really hurts and it's really hot here. I open my eyes to see a grey pegasus mare with a blonde mane and wonky cross-eyes staring at me with a worried expression across her face. She looks really familiar, I feel like I could relate to her for some odd reason. Why though?
"Oh thank Celestia You're okay!" the mare's worried frown turns to a smile, and suddenly I feel like I can trust her now. Again...I have no idea why. "You are okay, aren't you?"
I nod a bit, which was not helping my throbbing head. I observe my surroundings to discover I was in a meadow of some sort, how did I end up here? "Where am I miss...?" My voice sounded normal, good.
The mare grinned as she spoke, "Oh! You're just outside of Ponyville!"
My head began to throb more, Ponyville? I've heard that name before, but where? And what meaning did it have to me? "Ponyville huh?" I stood up to realize, I was standing on all fours. So, I knew I was a pony instantly. Thank heavens....or was it a bad thing? I had no idea!
The mare nods, "Yeah! It's a cool place!" she places one of her hooves on her chest, "In fact, I work there as a mail mare!" the mare then looks at me before outstretching her hoof towards me, "I'm Ditzy Doo! Every pony calls me Derpy though!"
I take her hoof as Derpy lets out a laugh, "Well, nice to meet you Derpy...!" I smile, I swear I've seen her somewhere.
"What do they call you?"
I was about to give her an answer, but...I had NO idea what my name was! "I...don't know..."
Derpy narrows her eyes, "Maybe you hit your head or something..." she takes my head into her hooves rather roughly and inspects it top to bottom. "I should take you to the doctor..."
I shook my head, "I feel fine Derpy!" I exclaim, "Really! I do!"
Derpy lets go of me, "Are you sure?"
I nod, "Yeah...Maybe if I look around, my memories will return!"
Derpy nods, "Right! Follow me! I'll take you to Ponyville!"
With that, I fallow her on foot as she spread her wings and flew to town a half a mile away.
