Inkwell's Origin

Ugh...I have been walking for hours! Are we even there yet? I look up at Derpy, still trailing the sky. Maybe she can't see ahead of her!

"Derpy! Are we almost there yet?" I shout to her.

Derpy lands on a cloud and glances at me. "Yeah! It's just up ahead!"

I am now annoyed, "You said that a half an hour ago!"

"Who's the one from Ponyville here?" Derpy questioned tensely.

I sigh, someone a long time told me never argue with the designated driver. Wait, who told me that? And...what in the world is a driver? I focus on the dirt road ahead as I also try to remember something, anything, about my past. What happened to me? Did I hit my head? I must have, because my head still really hurts...Or maybe it's because I'm thinking too hard.

"We're really close now!" a hear Derpy shout.

I can now see the town very faintly in the distance, a few hoof-steps later and my eyes can't believe what I'm seeing!

So many ponies of every race! Unicorns lifting things with magic, pegasai soaring above me, and earth ponies busting into town with large carts of produce and other various things. It is mind blowing! All three races working together! I've never seen anything like it! Or have I?

Yet again my head began to throb with every pony I saw. Each and every pony that I see I swear I have seen each and every one of them before in some way or another! But where? Where have I seen them before?

Derpy lands beside me, "That's a lot of ponies, huh?"

I feel my ears flatten and my eyes widen a bit more, "Y-Yeah...." I look around, "This is a town? This is more like a city!"

Derpy giggles before joking, "Then you haven't seen Manehattan before."

I rub the temple of my head softly with my hoof, "This is too much, I can't even think..."

Derpy and I begin to walk into the town and I can't help but look around. Derpy is kind enough to point out the names of everypony, and with every name she mentions, the more my head throbs. Each and every name is familiar, but how? How were they familiar?

Suddenly, as Derpy was pointing to two ponies sitting on a bench, she accidentally rams into a carriage that was holding a giant machine that with it's weight, had smashed the carriage with no effort. It only took Derpy to make the machine topple over and hit the ground with a thud. As if the situation couldn't get any more worse, the machine started rolling into town.

Derpy stands there panicking, and I'm doing the same seeing each and everypony scream and run the other direction.

"Oopsie..." Derpy muttered quietly.

Oh man were we in a lot of trouble! I can see the owner....no...owners? There's two of them and they are twins! Not only that, I think I know them because I feel distrust towards them both. But why? They look more funny than anything!

Derpy begins to approach them guiltily, "I'm so sorry misters!" she picks up bits of snapped rope that had previously held the now rolling machine, "I didn't mean to-"

The first twin interrupts Derpy before she can continue, "I've never seen such recklessness! Have you, Flim?"

The second twin trots over the Flim, "No Flam...have you seen such a clumsy feather-brain?"

"I sure haven't Flim!"

With that, those two erupt into laughter, causing Derpy to tear up. The two twins continue their taunts, "I wonder if she even knows where she is!" Flim jokes.

"Of course not Flam," Flim jokes back, "She couldn't even see town hall if it was right in front of her! With those wonky eyes of her's, she probably can't even see us!"

That's it! My head hurts too much and they have gone way too far! I grab them both by their little black bow ties and white collars, "Shut the buck up and leave her alone! She didn't mean to!" Wait, did I just say buck?

"What have we got here?" Flam mutters looks at me over.

Flim laughs and points at my flank, "A full grown blankflank!"

I look at my flank, it looked normal to me! "A what now?" I ask with anger rising in my chest.

Derpy looks at me through her tears before running away, everypony looks on as she disappears from sight.

I am now annoyed and madder than ever, "You know what? I don't care! You are just plain mean! I'm glad your machine is destroyed! If you ask me, Derpy did the right thing! If you judge ponies like that, you're just asking for misfortune!" I then take off in the direction Derpy went.

I call Derpy's name repeatedly as I run into town, I'm really starting to freak out a bit now. Suddenly I see Derpy running away. I am really breathless now as I call out her name one last time, "Derpy! Please wait!"

Derpy stops finally, but does not turn to face me. I finally stop running to catch my breath which was probably long gone. "D-Derpy...don't listen to them..."

Derpy finally looks at me, tears brimming on her eyes. "B-But they were right....I can't see so good...I destroyed town hall..." she sniffles, "I was so ashamed that I stayed away from everypony...I never showed my face in public since then..."

My head began to throb again, but I was used to it at this point, "What made you come back than...?"

Derpy smiled, "I-I have no clue...I guess I just decided that I shouldn't let it get to me..."

I smile, "Well I'm glad you're back! We need more ponies like you!"

Derpy wipes her tears away, "R-Really?"

I grin, "Yeah! You have such a positive I should about everything, and your optimism is unmatched by anypony in Equestria!"

Derpy pulls me into a hug, "Thank you so much...nopony has ever been so kind to me..."

"Well it's about time some ponies start seeing you with their hearts instead of their eyes..." I tell her.

Derpy releases herself from the hug, "Come on, let's go to Sugarcube Corner, I wanna muffin..."
