Chapter 3

The next day came by in an instant, and Quest wasn't expecting it to be a rather good day. So, to keep her occupied, she bought her diary so she can right what's on her mind. Many foals swarm to the school, almost nearly tripping her, and some just hang around until their called into class.

As she was walking to a nearby tree, a group three fillies in the distance mock her. "Hey look! It's the weird filly! What are you doing here? You know we don't you here!" The leader of the group is the first to poke fun at her. Then everyone else carries it along.

"That tree is meant for mules like you!" Another one says while covering her nose gesturing that Quest smells.

"Don't make her look at us! We'll catch the stupidity." The last one turns her back at the blue hair filly. Laughing at her, she walks off to find a place where she can have more privacy. Once she finds another tree to lay under, she opens her diary and begins to write again with tears forming in her eyes.

"It seems as though no one at the school likes me still. I don't know why, and I haven't anything to them. I wish the adults could do more to stop foals like those three... I could do something if I wanted to, but what would the adults think? would they still treat me so kindly? I just want all of this to stop." Wiping the tears from her eyes, she closes her book for now and heads to her class to again be mistreated by the others who disapprove of her. While inside, she can see every other foal sitting and waiting for the teacher to arrive. They suddenly grow silent when Quest shows up in the class, but continues to talk and go one about soon after. She can clearly hear the three fillies chuckle at her and notice her diary on her. She ignores them and sits in her seat. Since the teacher liked Quest, she moved her to the front of the classroom. Not that it bothered her, it's just that being the only one in the front makes other look like their not important.

The teacher finally walks in in a fast pace, giving the students a 'hello' and 'sorry I'm late.' Noticing Quest, she walks to her. "Good morning Quest, how are you?" The teacher pats Quest on the head, and Quest gives her a bright smile, forgetting about the other foals who are jealous of her and who don't like her at all. Her teacher is always the one who puts Quest in a good mood, and actually makes her feel important, and that she's there for her. Nodding at Quest, she goes to the very front of the classroom and silences the class so she can begin her lesson for today.

At the doctor, Sun Spot was waiting for the results, with Dusk Shower by her side. Sun didn't seem more terrified than Dusk. She learned to get use to the illness that occurred over time. Dusk was tapping his hoof on the ground as Sun puts her hoof on his shoulder. "You don't have to wait for the results you know. Didn't you say you was going to be busy until sun set?" She was curious as to why her husband took the time to go to the doctor with her. He usually doesn't like doctors, so she was a little confused this time.

"I want to know the truth about it. What if the doctors aren't doing what their supposed to do?" He added.

"Their doing all they can to cure my illness." She responds.

"Do they think this is some average illness?" He responds back angrily.

"Dusk, we have been in this town since we were foals. These doctors know this, and they try to find a cure for me even when I'm not feeling sick." She sits down and looks out the window. "My mother was also ill until her last breath. She told me to live, and don't let it stop you, no matter how bad it is. You can't wait to die just because you grow deathly ill."

"Don't talk like that Sun. I know she meant well, but this is you, and you are living. You need to be here with Quest, so she can grow up with both her parents." Dusk responds while looking at her.

"True, but some events you can't stop, even if is a cure..." Her tone get lower while she said that. Sun thinks about what she just said, and ask herself why she said that, and why she didn't have faith in herself. She does want to spend her life with her family, but how could she think of that if she only has a while even live? Snapping out of herself, she stares at Dusk with a look of disarray. "I'm sorry dear. I got to carried away, and didn't think about what I was saying. That is why I don't really like to talk about my illness, because it bring cold feelings. I'm just glad Quest didn't catch it, nor you." She grabs Dusk's hoof. "As long as Quest is able to live a healthy life, I'll feel much better. She is all that matter's to me, and I don't want that type of burden on her."

He couldn't help but give a smile at her. She's right he thought. As long as Quest was able to live, he was ok with anything in his way. But he couldn't help but feel strange about it, like a gut feeling like something, anything will come between Quest and her unknown destiny. Giving it a second thought, he forgets about it, saying that it's the atmosphere making him think like that.

A couple of minutes in silence was interrupted by the doctor, who had a piece of paper in his hand, and a quill. "Welcome back you two. I have the results for today, and I'm glad you picked this day to come. How is Quest?

"What do you mean? Is their something going on?" Dusk says, ignoring the question the doctor asked.

The doctor was hesitant until he looked at Sun Spot. She gave him a soft smile, meaning that it's ok. So he speaks, "Your illness is getting worse throughout the days, but this time theirs another situation at hand. It seems that the dizziness and the spots are caused by a lack of oxygen, and the pain in your stomach indicates that the sickness is traveling into the lower part, the vulnerable portion of your body and attacking it, resulting in oxygen loss."

"But I didn't know I wasn't breathing at times, and I end up catching myself. Is that bad?" Sun quickly speaks.

"I don't know, but you should at least stay home, and not get stressed out. Theirs no telling what would happen now, but I'm still looking for something that could help cure it. It's just so hard to locate the problem because of the lack of resources."

Dusk was about to say something until Sun stopped him, telling him that their doing all they can to help, and they just need hope. "Well, alright. Thank you for helping, and let us know when something comes up, and we'll be right here." They both wave a goodbye to the doctor as the doctor nods and closes the door, rubbing is head and sighing as though he didn't tell them everything, but he couldn't explain the rest if he didn't have proper evidence...

Their were only three hours left until school finally ended, and Quest couldn't wait any longer. Getting hit with pencils and mocking whispers from the class made her angry, and she couldn't bare it any longer. She wanted to scream at the silence of the room for making her go through this all. Opening her eyes, she takes out her diary and finds a pencil, only to find them all broken by the foals and thrown at her, along with throwing paper balls calling her weird. Sighing, she sets the book back down on her desk, wary to the laughter and the tapping of the teacher's hoof.

Earlier that day their was recess, where most of the fillies played hide and seek, and they sarcastically ask Quest to go and find them, only to be ditched by them. She didn't fall for it this time. Then, their were these colts who were messing with her hair and swinging it around and making it all messy, while calling her chicken because of how her wings can't lift her off the ground. After those quarrels, she tries to find a place where the teacher might be, or someplace without all the ruckus, and that's usually by a scattered tree. The only thing she does is lay there and daydream about adventure, the feeling of exploration, and finally rubbing it in on the other foals faces when they see her as successful. Feeling the cool breeze on her hair, she pushes it back and gives a sigh of relief that the teacher let's her do what she wants out of school grounds. Speaking of which, she heard the teacher call her name a couple of times, more than usual...

Snapping out of her nap, she wakes up to find the classroom staring at her, and the teacher telling her and the others that the day is over, and they can go home now. Being the first one out, Quest makes her way out the classroom, and outside, going to the direction of her home, while stopping in her tracks to see somepony getting arrested by the leaders of Clydesdale. Looking closely, she can see that the leaders are carrying a box out of his house, and it seems to be full of books and paper. 'They probably thought he was doing magic, but he's not a unicorn. I guess somepony was suspicious.' She thought as she continues to walk back home. Miles later she can hear hoofs walking behind her, and she guessed that it was the three fillies again trying to mess with her. Quest turns around, and to her surprise, she saw not only the three, but others from her class. It wasn't the whole class, but more than she thought.

"What are you doing following me?" She responds.

"The question is, what are YOU doing talking to us you mule?" The leader puts a devious smile on her face as she says that. "We was wondering what that book was you were carrying."

Quest frowns. "It's none of your concern." She walks off with no care, but is later surrounded by the group.

"Give me that book. What's so special about it huh?" The leader pushes Quest in the crowd, and they group tries to take the book from her.

"Stop! Nothing's in it!" That's all Quest could say, and she is shocked as to why she couldn't say anything else. The leader of the ruthless group opens the book and laughs wickedly.

"Oh look. It's a diary! What a wimp! Her only friend is a diary!" Her and the rest of the group starts to laugh while Quest tries to get the book from them as they throw it back and fourth. One of the fillies pushes her down, and the leader reads the book out loud. "Dear Diary, I still didn't have a good time at school, all of the foals were mocking me and I just want to do something about it. HA!" All of them bust out laughing, and the leader drops the diary into a nearby pile of dirt. "She can't even tell us what she really thinks. She's like a turtle I mean come on! why do all of the mares and stallions like you better? You can't even fly, and you have no friends. She then walks slowly to Quest. "But I feel for your parents, I really do, especially for your mother. She must be glad that she's ill so she won't have to see your face anymore."

That statement made her mad. No one talks about her mother like that. Quest knew that her mother kept that a secret from her, but with a reason, so she didn't mind it at all, but the leader of the group she thought was the worse. Getting up, she looks at the leader with angry eyes. Walking up to her, she immediately moves her long blue hair from her face and says, "At least I have a mother..." That was all she had to say, before socking the leader right in the jaw, knocking her down. The leader clinches her jaw and screams.

"Help! Quest punched me on purpose!" The mares and stallions all run up to the crowd and surround the leader, and she starts to cry fake tears. "She punched me and I fell. Someone stop her please."

Quest didn't care about how much the mares and stallions adore her, she wanted everything to stop, to finally leave her alone. "She made fun of my mother! Does anyone even care about what I'm going through to put up with all this?! She is to blame not me!" After saying that without a tear in sight, she picks up her book and runs away, to her home, where she should feel safe there. She was like a whole new pony saying those words to the leader and to everyone. They needed it, for Quest was hurting in a way that no one in Clydesdale would understand.

She opens the door to her house, not bothering to say hello to her parents. Dusk Shower is the first to say, "Hey Quest, you wanted some flying lessons?" She was already upstairs and in her room by the time he said that.

"Forget about it!" She yells down to her father. Throwing her book down on her bed, Quest could only look at herself in the mirror. Her hair was messed up from falling and being pushed around, and not to mention being all dirty to. She ached about what she said to them, not because it was wrong, but because it was right. The mares and stallions loved her because she was unique and was smarter than many other foals, and some disregarded their own because of how special she was, other than not being able to fly. She opens up her wings and stares at them. She makes them flap just a bit before closing them. She smiles a big smile soon after. "I glad I'm different from them. They need someone like me who can knock some sense into these ponies." She jumps onto her bed and opens her dirtied up diary. Not wanting to write in it right now, she decides to just flip through the pages, including the one with the perfectly drawn picture of the two Alicorns circling the Earth...

"What was that all about?" Dusk ask to Sun, and Sun looked just as confused as he did.

"I guess something happened at school maybe? She didn't want a flying lesson, that's what confused me the most. She refuses that." Walking to the first step she calls to her daughter. "Quest. Is everything alright?"

Immediately Quest shouts back, "I'm just fine mother! Tell dad I'll be down for the flying lesson in a second!"

Dusk Shower heard clear as day. He scratched his head. "I thought she didn't want to do the lesson, unless I'm hearing things."

"No, I guess it was a misunderstanding to us. She was probably in a good mood before she even came in."

"I guess I better get ready for her lesson." He says happily, still a little moody about the visit to the doctor, but perking himself, he goes outside to wait for Quest...
