The sum of our sins

A guard entered Celestia’s domain and bowed. “Your guest have arrived.”, he said.

“Thank you Sir.” Celestia said as she walked to the center of the room levitating  a crystal ball around her. In a matter of seconds the remainder of Twilight’s friends entered the room, and the Cutie mark Crusaders. “Welcome, have a seat anywhere you like. Get comfortable. I have a few things to go over.”

Applejack looked around and began to question Celestia’s strange behavior, “Where is Twi and Rainbow? Are they ok?”

“I’ll get to that in a second just sit down. I want you all to be as comfortable as possible.” Celestia said as she placed the crystal ball in the center. The ponies formed a circle around the Crystal ball and the Crusaders cuddled up next to their guardians. Once everyone was comfortable, Celestia gave a big sigh and looked at the crystal ball. “I don’t know how to phrase this... But... In a few days... Maybe even today. We’re all going to die.”

“What?!” Everyone screamed simultaneously. They began to panic but Celestia calmed them down.

“A being known as the God’s Sin has been released. He was defeated more then two thousand years ago by my mother. But he almost brought the world to a apocalypse. Nothing can stop it. I’m... I’m so very sorry.”

“You’re just going to give give up?! You’re the ruler of Equestria for god’s sake! Their has to be something we can do! What about Twilight or Rainbow dash?!” Rarity yelled in fear. Sweetie belle was clutching her tightly, and in Rarity’s mind with this action she knew she couldn't just sit ideally by while the world ends. Her sister was only ten, she was to young to die.

“That’s what this ball is for.” Celestia said as she placed her hoof on it. “I can still feel Twilight and this will show us what’s happening to her.”

“Then ya’ll need to boot it up!” AJ yelled  desperately.

Celestia put her horn on the Crystal ball and began to chant some an ancient spell. Just then the crystal ball showed a bird’s eye view of what was happening in the Badlands. It showed Boreas facing down Twilight, but something was changing in Twilight. Her body was growing larger, her neck and legs grew as well. Her mane started to sparkle and levitate. She began to look like Celestia.

“What’s happening to her?” Pinkie pie said in hopeful wonder.

“She’s...She's going through a metamorphosis.” Celestia said in awe.

Twilight’s body was in a overbearing amount of pain. Her body was twisting and morphing into something foreign. She screamed at the top of her lungs, but it wasn't from the pain of her body. She cried for vengeance. She wanted her friend back, she wanted Rainbow dash fighting along side her. She remembered all the happy moments they shared and it fueled her rage. She calmed herself, and stared at Boreas. Electricity bounced on and off of her, she had burning hatred in her eyes. She took a appearance similar to Celestia, here wings and body expanding three times as big as her original form. Her tears were dried up now, she took a fighting stance and launched herself at Boreas.

They all watched the fight, all of them confused as to what just happened to Twilight.  Then Fluttershy finally piped up and asked the question they all wanted to ask. “What do you mean metamorphosis?”

Celestia looked up towards her and began to explain. “Well... It’s a hidden power locked away in every race of pony. It’s when a pony reaches a point when they gain so much magic their body can no longer hold it all. So their body adapts to match the overflow of magic... Well, so long as they can hold that state. It’s eating a way at her metabolism and she could easily revert back.” Celestia got up and stretched, “I reached my metamorphosis a long time ago. And I trained for hundreds of years to make this state my permanent form.” She glared at the crystal ball, “Hopefully she can keep that form for the whole fight... Maybe then we’ll have a chance.”

“Oh Celestia. I wouldn’t put your hopes on your student.” A cryptic yet familiar voice said, everybody turned to the door to see Discord slither through.

“She is the last hope we have... You know that better then anyone. You we’re one of the god’s who helped create him anyway.” Celestia said with hopelessness laced through out her speech.

“Yes, yes, yes. I helped create him. Blah, blah,blah. But that was the past. But... I know of someone in this very room that has  a better chance of stopping him, then Twilight.” Discord said with a dumb smile on his face.

“Oh and who might that be?”

Discord jumped across the room and grasped the three terrified fillies, known as the crusaders. “This pony!”

“Get’cha paws off me!” Applebloom demanded.

Celestia looked confused, but her confusion turned into anger, “No! Their is no way in hell, we are going to attempt to the fusion technique!”

He dropped the crusaders and stuck out his tongue, “Fine then. Just doom the world. See if I care.” He got down and walked to Fluttershy and comfortably coiled up to her.

They all gazed back into the crystal ball, only to see that Twilight wasn't doing so good.

Twilight hovered trying to catch her breath. She wiped the blood from her mouth off and glared back up at Boreas. She tensed her body up and assumed a fighting stance again. Boreas began to laugh, “Now Twilight. I must say this has been quiet entertaining. Fighting me with everything you got, not stopping even when you know you have lost... It’s been fun, but even with that new transformation of yours, you still can’t beat me. Maybe I’ll absorbed you. Wouldn't that be fun? You’ll be with your friend as you watch me destroy this universe.”

She charged up and flew to strike him in the face. But he blocked the punch and grab her fore-leg. She tried to pull out but before that Boreas slammed his elbow down on it. A sickening snap was emitted, and Twilight went into shock. Her sight became blurry and she fell unconscious. Falling from the sky her body reverted back into her base form. She would have died from the fall but two figures appeared and caught her.

Boreas squinted his eyes to see who they were. He made out the first one and gave out a hardy laugh. “You must be Princess Celestia! I remember you! You were the scared little kid I kicked around. You’re all grown up! Ripe and ready to die!”

Celestia looked to Twilight who she was cradling in her arms. She turned to Discord, “I need to get to her to safety. Can you hold him off?”

“Of course I can. I’m me for god’s sake.” Discord said with a smirk.

Boreas glided down to the ground to face the two. He chuckled a bit and said “A princess of harmony and a god of chaos. I would say there was some irony to this scene, but I just can’t see it.”

Celestia gritted her teeth, remembering the fear that he instilled into her when she was young. The people she’s lost because of him. She closed her eyes and let a signal tear flow down her face before she teleported back to the castle.

“Well now that the coward is gone... How are you Discord? Rainbow Dash’s memories show me that you’ve sided with mortals. But last time I saw you, you were hiding up in the afterlife with the other god’s. Why are you here?”  Boreas questioned.

“Oh I just felt my brothers and sisters upstairs got so boring after they made you. After that, they all went ‘We shall never interact with the mortal realm again.’  And it got boring up their pretty fast. So I came down here had some fun. Got sealed away, got revived, then got sealed away again and then got revived again. Etcetera, etcetera. Met a lovely mare named Fluttershy and now I’m here.” Discord explained.

“Huh, you truly were a cut above the rest, Discord. I have no hatred for you Discord, just your brothers, sisters and all that they have created. We both have the same purpose, to destroy, and spread death. I would love for you to join me.”

“Sorry Sin. But a few months ago another beast offered me the same thing and betrayed me, I don’t want to take those chances. But more importantly that isn’t my purpose anymore. My sole purpose now is to protect the mare who showed me kindness when no others would. If you continue your rampage, she’ll die in the process. And I can’t let that happen.” Discord lowered his head in a hostile manner. He was willing to fight to the death for Fluttershy.

“So be it, you’ll be the first god to die.” Boreas said shrugging. Discord lifted up his paw and sent out a barrage of energy blasts, Boreas dodged each one while making his way towards Discord. He jumped and slammed his leg into Discord’s side. Discord flew backwards but then stopped in mid air, he shot back at him and launched a barrage of punches.

They all hit their mark, damaging Boreas’s face. Boreas backed off for a minute and then morphed his arm into a scythe. He ran at Discord, swinging. Discord dodged him three times and began to wrap himself around Boreas like a Boa constrictor. He tightened himself hoping that he would be crushed. Boreas began to struggle and then used his scythe arm to cut Discord in half and escape.

Discord groaned in pain, but reformed himself. He stared at Boreas and began to charge up an attack in his mouth. It was a attack that would eat away at anything slowly destroying it. Discord let out the blast but as it was heading for Boreas. Boreas slammed his arm into it causing it to bounce off him and hit Discord. Discord looked down to see a hole begin to form on his stomach, slowly his body was decaying. He looked back up at Boreas who was admiring his hand which was decaying due to the attack. He simply ripped it off and threw it away. Forming a new hand in it’s place.

Discord knew he had failed and their was no way he could heal himself. He was going to die. That was final. But... He had something to do before he could go. “Well this was fun wasn’t it? Sorry but I have to dash. Got things to take care of.” He gave a big smile and teleported back to the Canterlot castle. Boreas just stood there trying to understand what he meant and where he was going. He gave a shrug and turned in the direction of the nearest city. He was going to fulfill his purpose.

Twilight laid in the infirmary bed with a cast on her fore-leg and bandages scattered across her face and body. All her friends crowded her, they were so scared as to what was happening. They wanted answers. Was the God’s Sin really that strong? Where’s Luna? Where’s Rainbow Dash? But unfortunately Twilight was asleep.

Celestia was right next to Twilight praying. She asked the god’s for help, for her sister’s safety, for Twilight to get better and she prayed to her mother for her to give Celestia her strength. Celestia was scared, she felt like the six year old that met the God’s Sin all those years ago. She wanted to cry, but she didn’t want anybody else to see.

Discord appeared, badly damaged and the decay of his body was growing fast. He would be dead in a few minutes. “Hello lovelies.” Discord said trying to sound as confident as possible.

“Discord! Is he gone? Did you-” Fluttershy said as she ran to him. She stopped when she saw the wound. She looked up to him, and he gave a hopeless smile. A smile that said ‘I’m sorry’ on it. She hugged him and began to cry.

Celestia stood up and understood what was happening instantly. “He’s still alive isn’t he?”

Discord nodded and Celestia put her head down in disappointment. “It’s hopeless then.”

“No it isn’t. There is still the fusion technique.”

Celestia looked at him with disapproval, but then saw the wound. “Your dying.”

“Yeah. One of my own attacks in fact.” He gave a chuckle but flinched in pain. He stood back up and said “The fusion technique is the only way. You have to trust me.”

“It’s not that I don’t trust you...” Celestia turned her head to the crusaders who looked really confused.

“I kn-” Discord fell to the ground and began to writhe in pain.

“Discord!” A teary eye’d Fluttershy yelled in fear.

Discord put his hand on her head. “You showed me kindness when no one else would. And for that I wanted to protect you. That’s why I am sitting here dying... I want to protect you, for the rest of your life... And I can...."

All the ponies in the room got close to Discord.

“What are you-” Celestia said in confusion but was interrupted by Discord.

“Look at me... The god of chaos. Willing to give himself up for ponies... You infected me with your kindness... You ponies are so contagious...” He smiled and coiled himself around Fluttershy. Wrapping her in his dying body. He began to glow with a blinding light. Everyone turned away but when they looked back all that was left was Fluttershy. But something was off.

Fluttershy had Discord’s yellow tinted eyes and red pupils. She had a single long fang growing out of her teeth and a bat-pony wing instead of her left wing. Celestia looked at her, “He merged with her... Discord... When I first met you I would never take you to be one who would give them-self up for another... You have my respect.” Celestia began to walk towards the Crusaders as Fluttershy’s friends gathered around Fluttershy asking her questions like, ‘How do you feel.” or 'Are you ok?' Celestia bent down to the crusaders eye level and then asked, “Do you kids want to know what fusion is?”
