Remedy In Poneyville

Another beautiful day in Ponyville he had about an hour before he would open his clinic Remedy got to work on his gift to Exclusive, needle and thread glide through the air piecing together a scarf that he present to Exclusive at the Grand Galloping Gala, the material resembled that of the mare's filly blanket which she always kept near her at all times growing up. He finished it as an eerie, mischievous, and all too familiar chuckle echoed in his clinic.

"Hello Discord, is there any way I can help you today? I am not open to the public for another-" Remedy was interrupted by a furred finger pressed to his lips.

"Come now little Remedy you and I got quite well a year ago when you first moved to Ponyville, am I really 'the public'?" He paused waiting for a reply.

"You bring that up every chance you get Discord, what you did was cruel and unusual at best. Then again for chaos's sake, I can appreciate it when it's all in good fun. You took him from me, I found him end of story. Did Fluttershy need something  Discord, or are you lording your position of that day over my head." He said the more he thought about it the more enraged he became his magic turning from a green to a black. Discord seeing this change he grinned and wrapped himself around Remedy and licked the side of his face as if Discord were some puppy. Feel the slick tongue on his cheek Remedy soon dispelled his magic as the scarf and needle drop.

"I'm reformed Remedy though that day was a blast while it lasted don't you agree? I mean that poor pony friend of yours didn't know what hit him." Discord was pushed away and Remedy stomped to a near by drawer to get some medicine. "Ah yes those tablets for Fluttershy's poor charges." Discord holding back a devilish grin appeared behind Remedy and whispered. "How is poor little, oh what's his name again hmm?"

Remedy swung a hoof back to try and strike at Discord only to find Discord had materialized on the other side of the desk. "He is fine now, though I doubt he'd be thrilled to see you any time soon Discord." Remedy huffed and tossed the medicine to the draconequus.

"Pleasantries aside, I am reformed and I was informed trying to make amends would be best. I know what I did was, unkind you and your friend took quite a bit from me when I began my-" He was interrupted by the blue stallion soon there after.

"Don't Discord, if you are truly sorry for what you did then-" Remedy choked as a tear welled in his eye. "Discord what you did that day was just..." he fell silent tripping over his words they choked him as he looked at Discord.

Discord reached out to Remedy with no trace a smile had come across the draconequus's muzzle. Discord looked as if he'd been stabbed in the chest. "I-I understand..." Fluttershy must have really touched Discord in a profound way as Remedy look into his eyes. "I won't ask you to be my friend but, please I ask for your forgiveness." Discord asked as a tissue appeared in his hand and he offered it to Remedy.

"He's fine now Discord but, he moved far away after the mess you caused, I've made new friends since then but he was, special to me Discord. I-I would ask that you leave now Discord Fluttershy needs that medicine soon, and Discord...I will knew when that comes." Remedy turned away from Discord who's face appeared longer than ever. Discord gave a gentle nod, "Very well, I am sorry, Remedy." He vanished leaving behind a a heart shaped locket opened on his desk, inside it was empty. Remedy took a jagged breath and picked up the scarf and wrapping it up for Exclusive and putting it away until the Gala. Seeing the locket he opened a drawer on the desk and swept it away closing the drawer quickly as a knock came at his door.

"Hello?" he said opening the door looking into Fluttershy's eyes. "F-Fluttershy but, Discord already picked up the medicine you asked for." He said rather puzzled by her arrival at his clinic didn't she send Discord.

She looked as confused as he was as she looked inside and behind her. "But I didn't send him to pick it up. I dear I hope he was well behaved." she paused a moment seeing Remedy's eyes and put a hoof to her muzzle. "Oh goodness are you alright what happened?" her soft voice hit his ears and like sought his heart.

"It's nothing Fluttershy, Discord was fine I'm fine we're both fine he might be waiting at your cottage Fluttershy go see him and treat your animals." he said dismissively. She shook her head and put a hoof on his shoulder.

"What happened Remedy?" she asked looking up into his eyes truly concerned about the both of them. He sighed and looked away.

"He may be reformed Fluttershy and might be sorry for what he did but, some wounds need time to heal we exchanged words, some of them may have been colder than others. We will be fine but, I asked that Discord not show up near me until I tell him it is alright. I don't know if right now is the best time for us to try and be friends, a year Fluttershy it has been a year and seeing him still hurts." Fluttershy offered the stallion a gentle hoof and warm embrace, Remedy accepted and began to sob. Being the gentle soul she was she stroked his mane and shushed him in a calming manner. Remedy sighed using the tissue Discord had given him to clean his face.

"You need to talk to him, not yet but, some time soon let him in. He's a real sweet heart once you get to know him I know he didn't mean to be cruel or malicious, he sought chaos not harm. You'll see he's a wonderful friend." she gave him a smile and he returned it to her.

"Just not yet...I will just not yet." Remedy said calming down as Fluttershy nods and fluttered off to her cottage. A draconequus waited with an Angel bunny at his feet petting the seemingly sulking creature.

"I tried so hard, he- couldn't bare to look at me. The rest of Equestria is perfectly fine with me if not a bit uneasy but, Remedy after a year is still unable to look at me without contempt. His eyes burnt a hole in the core of my being, was a I truly that bad." Discord looked at the ground wanting to cry but his eyes wouldn't let him. Fluttershy embraced him and a tear fell into her mane.

"You did the right thing Discord it's up to Remedy now give him time it's probably the first time he'd ever thought of forgiving you. You apologizing to him is a good start to healing his heart it will be all right." she stroked his mane holding him close to her as he reached up clinging to her.

Remedy went about his day and the morning kept replaying in his head his heart felt heavy as he worked through his day. That night he looked up at the moon and prayed calling out to Luna for help. As he slept he was haunted by the events of Discord's chaos, the screams, and panic. Remedy was reliving the horror of hunting for his dear friend from Ponyville as Discord had not only managed to injure his friend's hoof and knock him unconscious but, had hidden him just out of reach in the Everfree Forest. Remedy fought to get his friend back and was just about to leave the forest when his friend began to age in his hooves and slowly wither turning to dust, crying frantically just before his friend's head vanished, everything froze. The images and sounds stopped as a shadowed figure popped out from the shadows.

"I believe it has been a year young stallion, these images have haunted you for far too long. Last time you saw these dreams was perhaps two months ago." the voice sounding very familiar as the figure stepped into the light. It was Princess Luna why had she come? He was left to ponder. "Has it been two months since you saw Discord last? And yet you saw him just this morning and you have this dream again. Does he vex you so?" she banished the dream and replayed that morning's event. "It appears he is trying to do the right things Remedy, is it so hard to show him the kindness you had shown me?" she smiled at him.

"You didn't hurt him! You didn't send him away and leave me all alone!...Again..."He yelled fighting a tear in his eye. she sighed and nods her head.

"Yes I do know what he did you relive it every time you see his face." she conjures and image of Discord behind her and waits for a moment. He looks coldly into the eyes of the image as his horn glows shifting from green to black, he lifts up on his hind hooves and readies his blackened horn to attack. "What would that accomplish?! You'd be no different than the cruel King Sombra he had no room in his heart for compassion, love, or forgiveness! We banished him and centuries later Princess Cadence destroyed him, love destroyed him! Is that what you want to become?! I know it is not easy to forgive or forget. Discord is trying so hard to earn your forgiveness. And what of poor Fluttershy, Discord her dear friend if you destroy him it would destroy her." his magic faded to green and then stopped as he hit the ground with all four hooves.

"Every time I look at him-" he was stopped by a gentle hoof on his shoulder.

"I know, I know all too well what holding this will do to you as well be angry be sad no one is telling you stop feeling upset but, don't let it consume you. You're a fun love, kind, and loyal pony you yourself have said chaos can be fun. I myself agree, and Discord...is trying. All I ask is that you give him a chance it will hurt but, you will heal and you will be strong for it." she smiled at him and conjured an image of Remedy's old friend. "I know there someone out there who would never want you to hold onto this hatred, do it for him, do it for me, do it for Fluttershy, do it for yourself." she flew off into the darkness as a beam of light crept across Remedy's face. He woke up and went about his day constantly think about what he dreamt of that night as the sun began to set he walked to edge of the Everfree Forest and looked up to the setting sun. The sky a fiery red and gentle orange, subtle hues of blue sneaking in between.

"Discord..." he whispered. Soon he stomped a hoof and yelled. "Discord!" he waited, before long the dragonequss appeared head hung low looking to the purple maned stallion.

"Whatever it is I promise I didn't do it until a moment ago I was helping Fluttershy all day." Discord said attempting to defend himself before Remedy could speak. Remedy shook his head and snorted Galloping at Discord. Discord in shock at the sudden attack vanished and materialized behind Remedy. "What in Equestria has gotten into you!" Remedy turned around and galloped at Discord again and they repeated this dance until Remedy caught Discord in his stomach. The draconequss fell down in pain holding his gut a Remedy with tears built up in his eyes huffed angrily looking down at Discord and as the night came the tear rolled out onto his cheeks and streamed down his face.

"Why Discord...why!" he demanded an answer to a question that Discord knew the answer to all too well. Discord crawled onto his knees and held his gut looking up at Remedy.

"For the sake of chaos, I never meant to..." Remedy looked at Discord in such a state he thought he should have felt better by now but, he only felt worse. "I'm sorry, if I could take it back I would but, I am truly sorry, please forgive me." he said with a tear in his eye now. Remedy fell to the ground and Discord shocked crawled over to him and lifted him into his arms holding up as he cried.

"I-I'm sorry Discord," he whispered wrapping his hooves around Discord and holding him close. "I though I wanted to hurt you like you hurt me I wanted hit you until you felt as bad as I did but, I'm such an idiot I just feel worse than before." Discord shook his head and smiled tears rolling down his muzzle as well.

"Don't apologize I deserved it for what I did to you and your friend I just you can forgive me." Discord sat with Remedy in his arms.

Remedy nods and hides his face in Discord's chest. "I-I forgive you Discord I forgive you but, I don't know if I will ever be able to forget what you have done." A bitter sweet forgiveness Discord took what he could get and laid Remedy in his lap as they sat long into the night. And image of Luna appeared on the moon looking down on them she rolled her eyes and smiled shaking her head taking comfort in the fact that the healing could now begin.
