Spike looked across the dining table at his expanding... harem?
Perhaps that was too strong a word. After all, he was only really sure about Bakabaka. Next to her was Nightmare Chrysalis... Chryssie was it?.. Her motives were still unfathomable... and he didn't even have a clue what the pink fluffball next to her was let alone what her motives were.
But between coming home to the library under dog attack and spending the better part of the night cleaning up even with the assistance of others, he was feeling tired. So he just heated up some leftovers he dug out of the kitchen. There was some mushroom stew and Germaneigh Rye Bread.
Bakabaka would have eaten dog food as long as it came from him. He had never experienced such submissive devotion from anypony in his life before... not that he was complaining. Of course, the Mane Six were all his friends, but none of them really bothered to do what he told them, let alone go to bed with them.
Chryssie seemed awkward about using a spoon until she watched him and Bakabaka using them for a while. But her deadpan stare was just a little unnerving at times. She also seemed to have a trait in common with Twilight since her transformation back at the Diamond Dog's mine: The tendency to go about the Library barely half dressed. It was hard not to stare at her chest since her bosom was sitting right on the edge of the table.
And then there was the nameless pink furball. She seemed to do everything with a long prehensile tongue. He couldn't even tell by looking if she had arms and hands, or just forelegs ending in hooves. She didn't even speak, but instead just communicated by blowing raspberries or making soft gasping sounds. It seemed that Chryssie and Bakabaka had no trouble understanding the noises, but it was all apparently non-sense to him.
Then a knock at the door caught his attention. He looked at Chryssie and the pink fluff as he said, "I better see who that is. Bakabaka will look after you while I'm gone, but I think it's best that you two should remain out of sight of the door for now. In fact, it's best if you two just stayed in the kitchen."
Chryssie sighed and the fluffball gasp.
"I'll take that... as a 'yes'..." He stood and made his way to the door. Standing tall, he set his face to a neutral expression as he opened it... to be glomped by Miss Rarity.
"Oh Spikey-wikey!" she cried, "Are you alright?!"
"I'm fine," he replied, "Why wouldn't I be?"
"There's monsters!" she said dramatically, "They've been seen around the Library!"
"The only 'monsters' I've seen around here are the dogs that broke in here and trashed the place," he sighed.
"Oh Spike," she sighed, "How terrible!"
"So what do these monsters look like?"
"Well, I haven't seen them personally," she replied as she looked up, "but the reports say that one looks like the Changeling Queen and the other is an unidentified pink fluffball."
"No monsters like that have threatened us."
"Well I am so relieved," she replied, "but promise be you'll tell me if you see them immediately. I'm worried sick about your safety, dahling." She kissed Spike on the cheek before letting him go.
"Shouldn't I tell the Royal Guards?"
"Well... of course!" she replied, "But I'm sure I care more about you than they do!" She paused before adding, "In fact, I think you should keep Bakabaka here with you until Twilight returns. It would be safer for the both of you."
"Thanks Rarity," he replied with a smile.
"Anything for my Spikey-wikey," she gushed as she turned to walk away.
"Care for some leftovers?"
"Oh, I'm far too busy right now," she sighed as she walked down the street.
He carefully closed the door, watched her hips sway as she walked away, and then rushed back to the kitchen.
"Something's going on with Rarity," he said quickly, "For some reason, she was looking for you two." He said that part as she looked at Chryssie and the fluffball.
The pink one let out a small series of raspberries as Bakabaka and Chryssie looked.
"While this may well make Master stop," she said, "She claims they were born inside her shop."
"What?!"
"As far as they can tell," she added, "They were born from a dark spell. Perhaps born from the essence of Nightmare Moon, but to know more it is too soon. There was three major Nightmares they could see: Nightmare Celestia, Nightmare Luna and Nightmare Rarity."
"Funny," he replied, "I wonder why Rarity didn't mention that..."
"While it does not seem quite fair," she replied, "perchance that really was the Nightmare!"
"It's lucky that I told her I didn't see any monsters that matched your descriptions then," he said, "although it really pained me to have to bend the truth like that around Miss Rarity."
Chryssie sighed and Bakabaka replied, "The other Nightmares called them weak, and didn't wish to hear them speak. They didn't even wish them to stay, but instead chased them both away. This may surely chill your heart, but they were torturing their counterpart."
"TORTURE?!" gasp Spike.
Chryssie nodded.
"OH YES!" hissed a nearby voice, "I'll be glad to give DEMONSTRATIONS!" They all turned to the kitchen doorway to see Nightmare Rarity in the same dress she wore at the door as Miss Rarity. While they all wanted to run, they realized that they couldn't move an inch. "But first I need to get back something of MINE from that pink fluffball!" She paused to laugh as she held up what was behind her back, and it was the Elements of Harmony! "Just look at the bonus bling I found! Those dogs are really terrible at searching, aren't they? It only took me a minute to find the book they were hidden in... under the pile of Spike's naughty mare magazine collection!"
