Richtofen Chronicles: One Last Chance
Criminal Chase
Previous ChapterNext ChapterTwilight Sparkle walked out of the forest, keeping them out of sight from ponies as she slowly walked across the perimeter of Ponyville. "Hey, Twilight!" a voice was heard from above, Twilight looked up only to see a purple eyed, rainbow colored mane, rainbow lightning cutie-marked, and blue coated pegasus on a cloud, her head was only visible as she looked down. Twilight shrieked as Rainbow Dash looked down, Twilight quickly flipped the door over to cover the two Humans. "Are you hiding something from me? Is it my birthday present?" She flew down to try and get a look at the door, Twilight quickly maneuvered to hide the Humans, "Trying anything to not let me see? Alright, see you later Twilight!" Rainbow Dash flew away, back into the clouds and quickly into sleep.
"That was a close one," Twilight sighed and quickly ran towards Applejack's barn. As she ran, Richtofen's hat fell off but she never noticed, she continued onto the red barn that had a tan house beside it, there was even a treehouse on the opposite side of the barn. Applejack was carrying a bucket of apples into the large, red barn, Twilight sparkle quickly ran into the barn after her, accidentally knocking over a stack of barrels. "Woah!" Twilight slipped on the fallen apples, loosing her grip on the steel door which fell onto the Humans. The orange coated, yellow maned, and apple cutie-marked looked behind herself.
"Twilight, you okay?" Applejack asked as she helped Twilight up, the steel door began to lift over, revealing Nikolai helping Richtofen up. "What are those things?" she screamed and began throwing apples at them, splattering apples onto the walls and onto their skins. Twilight pulled her away from the apple barrels, to the large corner away from them.
"He's friends with us!" Twilight screamed at her, the Humans looked back at her, Applejack calmed down, breathing heavily as the Humans look at her. Richtofen looked around, first looking at the apples then behind himself.
"Where's my hat?" Richtofen asked in a clam voice then slowly into a much angrier voice, "Where is my hat!" He tried to run at Applejack but Nikolai held him from going near her, same with Twilight doing to Applejack. "She took my hat!" Richtofen yelled out, acting like a wild animal to attack Applejack.
"She didn't take your hat, you must have dropped it!" Nikolai yelled back, pushing him into a barrel of apples, the barrel immediately broke and all the apples inside became applesauce. "There, I didn't want to do that but you made me," Nikolai calmly says as he looked out of the barn, straight at the rest of Ponyville, "So, what should we do?"
Twilight trotted outside and looked at the evening sky, "Princess Luna is lowering the Moon, you should get some rest and stay out of Celestia's sight." The two Humans looked confused.
"Princess Luna and Celestia are both the Moon and Sun, Celestia rules Equestria," Applejack said in a huge southern accent. Nikolai immediately laid on a bag of apples, he placed down his shotgun beside the bag then fell asleep. Richtofen sat on the other bag across from him, cleaning his revolver.
"So, do ponies sleep?" Richtofen asks as he cleaned the gold, Twilight nodded and Richtofen got up from the bag, "I need to redeem myself, I'll see if there's any criminal in the town." Night quickly fell, a white royal guard was patrolling the night as he found the hat Richtofen has lost, he picked it up and placed it on his head as he continued his patrol. Richtofen dressed up in a black, leather trench-coat over his suit, along with dark colored goggles over his grey gas mask. He began walking out of the barn, towards Ponyville. After a couple minutes of walking through the happy town, he spotted a green and white mare walking, along with a dark pony dressed in a jacket while in a alley. Richtofen stopped walking and slowly pulled out his golden revolver, he quickly camouflaged himself into the shadow of the darkness. Once the mare reached the alley, the dark pony dragged her into the darkness. "Now's my chance," Richtofen whispered to himself as he ran into the trash filled alley, "Look behind you!" The dark pony looked at Richtofen while he was holding down the mare. "Say cheese," Richtofen pulled his finger on the trigger, the hammer pulled back then quickly went back into its original position, a loud blast came from the barrel as smoke engulfed Richtofen's hand. The dark pony fell backwards, his head had a small hole coming from the front to back, under him was a puddle of blood that was growing. The revolver's cylinder finally moved onto the next bullet just as Richtofen placed it into his trench-coat, then began walking out of the alley. The mare had blood all over her face but no physical damage.
"T-Thank you," the mare said as she pushed off the body, "Who are you?" Richtofen looked back at her, then he looked forward and started to run back to the barn. The royal guard that had Richtofen's hat ran to the alley, all to look at is the mare covered in blood and the bloody body of a criminal. A group of royal guards began running toward the direction Richtofen was going, Richtofen got the first glance of them and jumped into a bush which was beside the river. The royal guards ran past the bush, arriving at the scene, Richtofen ran out of the bush, causing all the guards to look at him.
"Get back here!," the guards yelled furiously as the chase began. Richtofen ran faster than the guards but not more accurate, he accidentally ran into a alley, which was a dead end. The guards covered the only exit Richtofen had, "It's all over now," one of the guards said as he pulled out a sword with magic.
Richtofen quickly got an idea that would save him and Nikolai, "Wanna see a magic trick Twilight taught me?" Richtofen questioned as he reached his hand into the trench-coat, grabbing onto the grip of the golden revolver. The royal guards carefully nodded. Richtofen quickly pulled out his revolver and shot the first five in front of him, but he soon ran out of bullets. The first five guards all had holes in their heads, the same with the dark pony. The guards all pulled out swords as Richtofen holstered the revolver.
"You are under arrested," the Royal Captain said as Richtofen placed his hands up then slowly walked over to the first royal guard, who is dead, swimming in a pool of blood and. Richtofen knelled down as the three last guards began to move forward. Richtofen grabbed the sword and chopped off the head of the nearest guard, the guard's body twitched as it began to spray out blood all over Richtofen. Richtofen wiped off blood from his goggles then stabbed the second guard in the back, paralyzing him. Richtofen looked at the third, which had his hat.
"Give me my hat or else," Richtofen said in a muffled voice, then pulled the hat off of the terrified guard, "Now go." The guard whimpered and ran away from the alley, Richtofen calmly walked back to the barn, Nikolai awake and eating an apple. Richtofen pulled off the grey, blood covered gas mask then slowly placed his hat back on. "I need to find a new way to redeem myself," Richtofen pulled off his blood covered trench-coat, revealing his tan SS suit.
"What were you talking about?" Nikolai looks at him, then the blood covered clothing on the ground, "How many?"
Richtofen looked at him, "Eight, seven royal guards, no more ammo for my revolver," Richtofen said as he laid on his own bag of apples. "Next morning is when we start exploring, I feel there's something more here, like some sort of Humanity left in the world," Richtofen said in a serious tone. Nikolai was already asleep, with a bottle of vodka beside him along with the loudest snoring. Richtofen slowly got used to it and fell asleep, the night was silent except for the snoring.
Miles away, in the city being held up on top of a mountain, Cantorlot. A white coated, sun shaped cutie mark, multicolored mane, horned and winged pony stood in the biggest castle of Cantorlot, the outside was white and held up with columns. She talked with the last survivor of the onslaught. She gasped as she heard the word, "Human," so she walked out of the huge, gold doors, in front of the gigantic, white castle, trying to clear her mind. Hundreds of guards stood outside, all of them different colors and all of them with different weapons, Celestia walked down the steps, in front of the crowd, she then took five steps into the crowd, and began ordering the tallest guard, the captain of the royal guards, the voice was unheard by all the chanting but only understandable by him. After giving the orders, she began walking into the crowd, surrounded by guards of all sorts and the ponies that came out to watch, the city center was like a explosion that can not get out of the bomb. Once she got to the end and now walking faster, the guards started following her through the road, the same speed as Celestia is troting, buildings on all sides began to move faster, telling the guards that they are picking up speed but one building wasn't moving, the gate in front of them. Celestia moved her hooves forward, sliding to slow herself down, the guards began to copy her and started to slow all the way to a stop, the gate was three feet in front of them now, only thing to do was to open the gigantic, white doors. Celestia peeked behind her for only a second, making sure all of the thousands of guards were following, she looked up, facing the top of the tall gates. Her white horn glowed a purple haze, the doors were covered with the same haze as they began to slide outwards, opening a huge gap which revealed a road leading down the mountain and train tracks beside, going the same destination. Nikolai was outside of the red barn, sitting on his apple bag, watching the bright yellow lights that are traveling down the mountain.
"German comrade, Richtofen, come here and see this," Nikolai calmly said to Richtofen, who has just gotten out of his laying position and is now sitting. Richtofen rubbed his eyes and gotten off the bag, walking beside Nikolai and watching the lights.
"Where's Twilight? Maybe she'll give us information about what's happening," Richtofen told Nikolai as he walked back into the barn, grabbing his golden revolver from under the bag. Nikolai shrugged just as Richtofen appeared beside him. "We need to find a place to hide, there is no time to lose," Richtofen ordered as he began walking into Ponyville, which is now lighten by sunrise. Nikolai followed him back into the same town, past the same bush Richtofen hid in, then past the same alley filled with blood, until they came to a stop as the brown door of the treehouse busted open, revealing Twilight trotting out with books hovering over her, all a different size, shape, and color. "Don't talk to her, we must get out of here!" Richtofen began to run past her, Twilight became shocked that they are out in the open, Nikolai waved at her as he ran past her. The lights on the mountain began to fade as the sun rose, the horizon was no longer green but now blue, along with the sky above Ponyville. Richtofen dived through two, tall and green trees, passing a 'Do Not Enter' sign that had a skull and crossbones on the front of the sign.
They never stopped once through the dense forest until they reached a bundle of blue flowers, "I feel sick" Nikolai said as he grasp his stomach while groaning. Richtofen patted his back then took a step in the flower bed, the clearing of the forest was completely strange, even for Richtofen's life. "Why is there strange noises?" Nikolai began to spin around, looking everywhere for the source of sound.
"I hear it too," Richtofen whispered as he knelled down, spreading the flowers away, revealing a plasic cube that had a screen on the front, it even had bars that were moving up and down along with Russian word. Richtofen picked up the box, revealing a green skeleton's arm on the handle of the box, Richtofen shrieked and nearly fell backwards as the arm fell off. "Nikolai, you're from the Soviet union, can you read this?" Richtofen handed over the object to Nikolai as Richtofen questioned him.
Nikolai looked over the screen of the object, the bars on the screen slowed to a stop in the middle of the blue screen. "It says 3,000μSv," Nikolai says, worried, "It's like an atomic bomb went off here." Richtofen slowly turned around, in a full circle until looking at the direction opposite of Nikolai, seeing rising smoke above the forest and a small, grey path through the thick forest, possibly miles long. Richtofen began to walk into the path, surrounded by thousands of tall, dark, and green trees, all of them creating a strange feeling over Richtofen and Nikolai. Nikolai began following Richtofen as he heard strange noises behind himself, holding the brown and black shotgun closer to his chest, ready to fire. Richtofen began to slow, until he finally reached a step.
"We are not alone in here, with me having no bullets left and a vodka addicted man, who is holding a fully loaded shotgun," Richtofen said, joking around a bit until the noises appeared in front of them. Richtofen slowly gotten into a fight position, his fists up in the air, covering his face as he looked around. A wooden paw appeared on the ground beside Nikolai, startling him. A second paw appeared beside the first and the creature finally revealed itself, a brown wolf but made out of wood, its green eyes stared at the two man army, its joints floating as if everything was connected to invisible string. "We are dead," Richtofen said with his teeth gritting, getting ready for a deathmatch between wooden wolves. Two more wolves appeared in front of Richtofen, all with the same features.
"Now or never," Nikolai said as he pulled the grey trigger, a yellow blast blew out of the barrel, small, metal pebbles flew out of the barrel, as fast as a rocket in the sky. The wolf in front of Nikolai flew backwards, laying on the grey ground. The two wolves backed up, crouching and ready to pounce on the two Humans. Nikolai faced the last two, backing up along with Richtofen, both ready to battle. A loud noise echoed through the night, waking up ponies and alerting the Royal Guards, the two wolves fell with the similar hole in the head, both laying in front of Nicholai and Richtofen. "Ponies don't have any sort of firearm," Richtofen looked to the right of himself, seeing a silhouette rise from the darkness of the trees. Nikolai saw the figure also, which was now holding something that looked like a stick attached to a belt. The figure slowly walked towards them, pushing away grey bushes and crunching branches with each step. "Hold it, don't you move!" Richtofen yelled at the figure, still holding his fists up and ready to battle.
The unknown figure yelled back, "Well, America needed you for our little problem, you couldn't believe how much work we've done to find you," the figure slowly rose into the small area of moonlight, revealing a muscular man, with an American flag bandanna attached to his head, green camouflaged pants, and a tan sniper rifle, hanging over his shoulder. "Richtofen, I am Tank Dempsey, I can see that a Soviet found you before I did," Tank told Richtofen as he walked onto the grey path, "Now, we are stuck on this world and have no means of escape, I've been hiding out in a cave from the wolves, you can not believe how much I am terrified."
"We all are terrified, we found talking horses that are ontop of the food chain now," Richtofen moved his hands, up and down while talking to him. Nikolai stared at Tank, pumping the fore-end back and forth, blowing out the empty, bronze shell from the bottom of the firearm. "How did you get here?" Richtofen asked slowly, talking in a heavy, German accent while stroking his chin.
Tank looked at him, talking at the same speed, "Die Glocke, The Bell," Richtofen took a step back, breathing heavily.
"How did you get the schematics?" Richtofen angrily asked, talking in the heaviest, German accent he has ever done. Tank chuckled, quickly taking out a folded blue paper, then handing it to Richtofen. Richtofen grabbed it with force and quickly unfolded it, revealing the while diagrams, drawings and German writing. He looked over every section until he found one piece of evidence, a scorch mark on the top, right corner of the page. "But the Russians got into the base, how did you get this?" Richtofen asked in a worried voice, Holding out the schematics as Tank quickly grabbed it, placing the blue paper in his right pocket.
"It's not important right not, we need an area to hold out in," Tank looked around, up and down until he saw the growing smoke from the distance, "We need to check out that smoke, it goes deeper in the forest. But remember, the deeper you go, the less sane you become." He begins to walk further into the forest, with wolves howling through the night, the Moon rising above the three Humans that are now walking towards the rising smoke who are certain they're going towards oblivion.
