It was a wonderful day in the Crystal Empire, the sun shining onto the crystals, reflecting little fragments onto the ground. Princess Cadence the new ruler of the Crystal Empire was trotting around her home, it was all familiar to her. Coming past different rooms, different memories flooded her mind. After all, this Princess did live here as a little filly, and things here had barely changed. But then she came across a certain room, flood of memories to overwhelming, holding a powerful connection to her family. Tears streaming down, Cadence couldn't help but let her emotions control her.

Flash Century was patrolling the castle when he heard sobbing noises coming up north, curious he went to check it out. To his surprise he found the Princess sitting at the door of a room crying.
'Why?' He thought to himself.
"Princess are you alright?" Flash asked putting a hoof on Cadence's shoulder. Cadence looked up at Flash, she gave a small smile to him.
"Oh… it's nothing…" She fibbed. Flash looked unconvinced
"Princess you don't convince for one second, no offence." Flash told her. She sighed, there was no point lying.
"This place… just brings back old memories." She sighed. Flash was confused, old memories, she had only been her a few months.
"Princess, I don't understand… you have only been well… A few months." Her told her. She nodded
"I've actually lived here as a filly, Flash. And you don't have to always address me as Princess, Cadence will do simply."

Shining Armor trotted happily, he had finished duty and off to see his beloved wife. However, he glimpsed, Flash Century and his wife! He galloped over to see what was happening.
"Century, explain yourself!" Shining shouted. Century was lost for words, he didn't know how to explain.
"Honey, he was just helping me conflict some problems of mine while you were on duty." Cadence told Shining. He nodded at Flash, signalling that he could go. Flash left the couple alone.
"What's up?" Shining asked, taking off his helmet. He knew his wife was troubled.
"There's no point lying, I'm a lousy liar." She sighed. Shining chuckled
"You are, but that's not the point." He told her
"It's family problems, memories just coming back. You see I used to live here when I was young." She told him.
"Follow me." Cadence lead Shining to a certain room.
"Cady, what is this place" Shining asked, as he glanced at portraits
hanging from the room. He glanced at one, a majestic red alicorn, another portrait, the red alicorn again with a slightly dark blue Pegasus, with a purple mane. The next portrait displayed to fillies, one alicorn, another a Pegasus. On the left side an alicorn with a grey coat and a dark blue mane, on the right…Cadence?
"These Shine, are my family. The red alicorn, King Rubinus, the dark blue Pegasus, Amethyst Shine, my sister Aura and me." Cadence burst into tears, Shining landed a kiss on her cheek.
"Hey,hey it's alright. Where are they?" Cadence sniffed replying to Shining's question
"I don't know where they are… all I know is that my father is…dead." Cadence burst into tears again. Shining hugged her tightly.
"Well I might as well tell you my life" Cadence smiled
"After all you think you know everything about me." Shining gave her a puzzled look.
"I never said that. But I know your so cute at times."
"Aren't I cute all the time Shiny?" Shining chuckled,
"Of course you are honey."

"I lived in the Crystal Empire, until Sombra came to rule-"
"Woah that's sometime ago." Cadence gave him an annoyed look.
"…Well let's start from the beginning again? No interruptions."
"Alright, alright."
