Quickskip

I moved to Ponyville from Cloudsdale about two days ago. It was my first day of school and I was a little frightened because I was home schooled during my many years in Cloudsdale and never really had a social life. I’m a pretty smart pegasus for being taught at home for so many years. I walked into class and introduced myself to the teacher, Ms. Cheerilee. “Hello I’m Quickskip.”

“Why hello Quickskip, I didn’t think you were going to show up today.” Cheerilee smiled and had me introduce myself to the class. As I finished introducing myself to all the other ponies, I sat down in an empty desk next to a very skinny pony named Feather Weight. He studied me for quite some time and he opened his mouth to say something but no words came out. I looked and him and continued to study. The bell rang and everypony gathered their things and shot out the door. I slowly grabbed my things and walked out the door, and took off into the air.

Flying was always my favorite hobby. It cleared my mind and helped me forget about all my problems. I was flying as fast as I could and closed my eyes. I opened them a few seconds later and SMACK!!! I hit a Pegasus with a rainbow mane and a smile on her face. “Sorry… I wasn’t watching where I was going.” The pony studied me for a few seconds and started to speak but was interrupted by her friend.

“Rainbow Dash, can you help me put up these banners for the Summer Sun Celebration?” This pony was named Rainbow Dash. I liked that name.

“Yeah, give me a minute Pinkie Pie. I’m talking to my new friend here.” I gave her a surprised look and her looked down to see Pinkie bouncing gleefully down the street.

“Hey kid… what’s your name?”

“It’s Quickskip…”

“You’re a pretty fast flyer Quickskip, where did you learn to fly like that?”

“I always used to fly to my aunt Spitfires’ house and fly with her.”

“OH MY GOSH, OH MY GOSH, OH MY GOSH, you’re related to Spitfire!!! The leader of the WonderBolts!!”

I looked at here like she was crazy… “Ummm yeah… I always hang out with her on the weekends when she working.” Rainbow Dash was speechless. It’s like she was struck by lightning. I looked at her and started to fly circles around her and gave her a piece of paper. On the paper was my address and she hugged me so tight I thought she was going to squeeze my guts out. We went our separate ways.

I awoke the next morning and Rainbow was at my house with her flight goggles on. I grabbed my goggles and ran out to meet her. “Hey, are you ready to go?”

“Ready as I’ll ever be.”

We took off and we started to race. Rainbow Dash was amazingly fast, faster than lightning. As we approached our destination RD stopped and looked at me and said “Quickskip, do you think I’ll ever become a Wonderbolt?”

I looked at her and said, “Maybe, it’s tough to get into such an elite group of flyers. You need to show her something she’s never seen before and there’s a chance you get in.” Rainbow smiled and we flew to Spitfires’ house. We touched down outside her door. I gently knocked on her door and heard a rustle inside. A few seconds later we heard the door unlock and Spitfire emerged with her flight gear on. Spitfire looked at me then looked at Rainbow Dash. I started to introduce Rainbow but Spitfire stopped me.

“Hey Dash whats going on?” I looked at her with a puzzled look and thought, how does she know Spitfire? Rainbow Dash smiled and looked at Spitfire.

“Oh you know just practicing all my moves.” Spitfire looked at me and started to take off. Rainbow and I followed. Spitfire started to do flips and other tricks that she knew.

“Hey Rainbow I’ll make you a deal. If you can train Quickskip well enough to be able to do all your tricks perfectly and have him become just as fast as me, then I’ll let you become a Wonderbolt.” Rainbows mouth dropped and she looked at me with determination in her eyes. She grabbed me and we started to train. We raced back to Ponyville and started training right away. We started with wing pushups and endurance training. After about a week I had accomplished all of the tricks she knew except for the superspeed strut. I tried it a million times and always crashed into the ground below. I looked at Rainbow she smiled.

“Quickskip… it’s ok you’ll get it sooner or later, just watch me do it one more time.” I watched her as she flew by at an incredible speed. I looked at her and smiled. I took off as fast as I could. I started the first phase of the strut. I haven’t hit the ground yet so all is going well. I looked down and realized that I was doing it!!! I came to a stop and looked at Rainbow she was in tears. I flew over to her slowly.

“What’s wrong Rainbow Dash?”

“Nothing I’m just so proud of you Quickskip. I’ve taught you every trick in the book and you’re almost as fast as me.” I gave Rainbow a hug and told her she was like a sister to me. We went our separate ways. I flew to Sugar Cube Corner in the morning. I arrived about 2 hours before RD was supposed to so I could make sure everything was ready for the surprise me and Spitfire planned. After the hour was up we got in position. 5 minutes later RD walked in and walked up to Pinkie Pie.

“Oh hey Rainbow Dash what’s up?”

“Nothing Pinkie, just waiting for Quickskip to get here.”

“SUPRISE!!!!” Spitfire and I jumped out from behind the counter. Rainbow Dash looked like she was about to die of a heart attack. I walked into the next room and grabbed the present Spitfire and I got for Rainbow Dash. I gave the present to her. She tore the paper off in 3 seconds flat. She began to tear up when she saw her present.

“I love you guys so much!!” She put on her present faster than the eye can see. It was a Wonderbolt uniform. I sat in the corner and watched as Spitfire and Rainbow talked about their next show in Las Pegasus. Spitfire looked and me and motioned for me to come over to her.

“Hey Quickskip! I have a present for you too!” I was shocked I didn’t know I was getting something from Spitfire. She brought the present in and I tore the paper open and inside was a Wonderbolts uniform. I was speechless. Out of all the Pegasus ponies in Equestria I was chosen to be a Wonderbolt alongside my aunt and my best friend. We talked all day about our coming shows and all the fun we will have flying with one another. Oh that reminds me I have a show in about 10 minutes… I’ll see you later.
