A multi-universal view of Twilight Part 1

Back at the ordinary pony-filled environment that we are familiar with, Twilight and her friends are at the library.  Twi is just coming up with theories about spells that could potentially allow you to travel through dimensions at will.  During one of her experiments she accidentally bumps a desk and knocks a vial of pure magic on the floor.  It shatters and explodes in a violent burst of light, dust, and, well, magic.

"GET OUT OF THE LIBRARY!" Twilight  orders, "IT'S CONTAMINATED WITH PURE MAGIC!"  As the ponies file out the door, many more beakers and vials burst and explode.  Now, with the ponies outside and the library in flames, Rainbowdash and Fluttershy fly away to get help.  Twilight's beloved library is no longer visible among the thick cloud of purple smoke that envelopes it.  As Twilight lays in tears on the ground, inside she hears a whiz, a pop, and bang.  What in Equestria is going on here? she thinks.

As she decides to take a closer look, she remembers that magic smoke is toxic, and she needs a gas mask of some sort.  Paramedics and fire department have shown up, so she "borrows" one from a fire truck. She sees the outline of a pony with a unicorn horn and pegasus wings.  An alicorn! she thinks. The figure vanishes, but Twilight can hear hoofsteps wandering through the now abandoned library.  Suddenly, the figure crashes into her side and topples over her.  The pony is close enough to see now, and when Twilight looks into it's face, she sees a mirror image.  What in the world is going on?.  The pony looks just like her, but with her mane tied back in a ponytail and an eyepatch over her right eye.  Other Twilight is also wearing a velvet cloth over her flank, just enough to cover her cutie mark.

Twilight and OT ( Other Twilight ) pause for a few seconds of confusion.  "WHAT?!  But, how-what?!  How is this-WHAT?!" stammers Twilight.  "This is impossible!  You're me, but, you're NOT me.  Who ARE you?!"

"I'm Twilight Sparkle," says OT with a blank look on her face.  They both looked out the window, her friends were calling her name.

"Twilight! Where are you?!  The pony police wants a detailed report!"

Twilight looks at OT and says "Come outside with me.  We need to sort things out, and I'm getting headache."
