"SURPRISE!!" everypony yelled as Midnight entered the library and turned on the dull light.
"Were you surprised?!" Shadow asked as she popped up out of nowhere.
"Very, both from the party and you." Midnight said, still shocked beyond belief at Shadow's apparent disagreement with the laws of physics and reality.
"Oh right, you're knew around here so you're not use to me, you will be eventually though."
"I hope so. Look I'm really grateful for the party, but I need to find a way to aid Princess Nightmare Moon in defeating Celestia when she returns during the Lunar Eclipse Celebration, or possibly face her myself."
"We'll do that after the party."
"Fine." Midnight was annoyed. The party began after that and everypony started having fun. Midnight grabbed a glass of blood and took a sip. "Apples." she observed.
"Yep, we mix it with the blood." Defiant said as she came over.
"Oh, how come?" Midnight asked.
"Just to add a little extra flavor."
"I guess that makes sense."
"Midnight come with me I have some important information relating towards Celestia." Blazing said as she came up
"Okay, I'll talk with you later Defiant Shadow." Midnight said before heading to, what she assumed to be, her room while in Vamponyville. "So what did you want to talk to me about?" Midnight asked as she closed the door with her magic.
"Aside from getting onto you for only using magic, I wanted to talk to you about the Elements of Harmony and something I remember mom telling me." Blazing said.
"I know that I need to get out of the habit of just using magic. What about the Elements of Harmony?"
"First off they're known as the Elements of Chaos now. Second, mom partly corrupted them so that, even if she were to lose her connection to them, she wouldn't be able to be harmed by them."
"So what are the Elements of Harmony and where would I find them, should I need to use them against Celestia?"
"You mean we. The elements will not connect to a single pony, they connect to two, three, or six ponies, or other creatures, that hold the traits related to each."
"Okay. So, again, what are they?"
"There are six elements, they were originally Kindness, Laughter, Generosity, Honesty, Loyalty, and the sixth element which is still unknown. After mom corrupted them they became Cruelty, Fear, Malevolence, Deceit, Betrayal, and the sixth element which mom couldn't corrupt as it is the most powerful of the six."
"Finding ponies with those traits will be hard, but finding ponies with those traits that are willing to help will be harder."
"Not really, I've already figured out one pony that embodies one of the elements. Also mom was only able to partly corrupt them. The ponies that have the traits of each must also have the traits of the original and use both together to be considered worthy of the element they represent."
"who's the one pony you've found that is such with one of them?"
"Me. I represent the element of Kindness/Cruelty In that I am kind and willing to help, but I'm likely to help in a rather cruel way. Like for instance when I had to treat that night guard because she had a bad infection in her wing. Do you remember how I helped her?"
"You cut the infection, and skin that it effected, off without having anypony use a pain relief spell on her."
"Exactly, I was kind for helping her even though I didn't know her, but cruel in the way I helped her. That's what I mean by showing both traits."
"This is very useful information. May I ask you a question?"
"What is it?"
"Is Shadow Death always so confusing and unnatural?"
"Yep, she loves to break the rules of reality and the laws of physics. You'll get use to it if you stick around long enough." Blazing smiled after speaking.

Seven hours after the party, everypony was at the town square, awaiting the hour of the Lunar Eclipse. "Citizens of Vamponyville! It is with great honor that we will welcome Princess Nightmare Moon here today as she begins the Lunar Eclipse, the celebration of the beginning of her glorious eternal night. Now I welcome the Princess of the dark herself!" the mayor said as she motioned towards a balcony where red curtains drew aside to reveal, not Nightmare Moon, but rather one of the shadowbolts.
"I haven't time to explain, all of us are in danger, get to your houses and block the windows now!" the shadowbolt, named Mist Claw, said frantically before vanishing.
A golden mist entered the area then and took the form of the Princess of the Day herself, Celestia, in full golden armor. "My little ponies, it has been so long. I honestly expected the world to be dead by now." Celestia said.
"Who are you. Guards get her." the mayor yelled out. Two Night guards attacked Celestia then, only to be nearly incinerated by a solar blast of magic.
"Have you all forgotten who I am?"
Midnight stepped up and spoke with strength in her voice. "I know who you are, you're Celestia, the ex-princess of the day." Midnight said, with venom at the mention of day.
"Sompony who remembers me, then you know why I'm here."
"To potentially kill all of us with your sun."
"I am merely here to bring back a lost balance, not kill."
"You forget that's it's been a thousand years, do you honestly expect ponies to not have evolved to better live in an environment of eternal night?"
"The only pony that could have defeated me is now defeated herself, what do you intend to do?"
"Save all of Equestria from your scorching flame." Blazing Moon said as she stepped up.
"And you would be?" Celestia asked.
"Blazing Moon, adopted daughter of Nightmare Moon." Blazing spun around to head towards the Everfree
"And where are you going?"
"Home." Blazing spoke the word carefully and Midnight knew the hidden message as she began following.
"Insolent brats."
About halfway to The Ancient Castle of the Royal Pony Sisters, Midnight heard a rustling in the bushes and the other four ponies she had met came out.
"We're coming to and there is nothing you can say to stop us." Defiant said.
Midnight looked over at Shadow. "Don't you have ponies to kill?" Midnight asked.
"Done with them, now come on we have to get to the castle and the Elements of Chaos." Shadow said,
"Very well let's go." Blazing said as they headed off.
The six soon got to the castle and Blazing lead them to the elements, stopping at a door marked with six spheres.
"When we go through this, we'll be separated and put through challenges that relate to which element each of us is closest to, if we pass then we're connected to the element in question, I've gone through before so I'll wait on the other side." Blazing said before opening the door, all six were blinded by a bright light.

Night Blood blinked a few times to clear the brightness from her eyes before looking around. She was in the forest, and the other four ponies were there as well. Wait four, where's Blazing... oh right, she said she'd wait on the other side Night thought. "Hey girls, you all up?" Night asked.
"Yea we're up, so should we head off?" Shadow asked as she checked her scythe for dirt stains.
"Why do you care about getting dirt on your scythe Shadow Death?" Blade Hex asked.
"Because I don't want the dirt dulling the blade when I need it to kill."
Night Blood shrugged as the two started bickering and Defiant and Midnight started talking about what they expected for each challenge.
"Hey." somepony behind Night said.
Night turned around, and squealed like a filly, when she saw Dead Strike, the captain of the shadowbolts, behind her. "You're Dead Strike!" Night yelled with happiness, though none of the other four ponies seemed to notice.
"I am, and you must be Night Blood. Welcome to the team." Dead Strike placed a black pin on Night's chest.
"Really, I've got to tell my friends!"
"No! If you wish to join us and gain back their weapons then you must leave them now."
"Alright." Night took to the air.
"Very well, we'll lead you to their weapons, but you are not to return them." Dead Strike took flight as both Dark Dash and Mist Claw appeared
The four soon got to the weapons and Night Blood picked them up. "Thanks for getting me these back. And thanks for the offer to join you." Night said.
"It's our ples-" Mist claw was cut off as Night continued.
"But just because I'm a traitor, doesn't mean I'm not loyal as well. See you three later." Night flew off fast enough to create a sonic-rainboom and quickly got back to her friends.
"Night." Midnight, Defiant, Shadow, and Blade all said in unison.
"I believe these belong to you." Night said as she handed Defiant, Blade, and Shadow their weapons.
"What happened?" Midnight asked, Night recalled what happened to her as fast as possible before the group continued on.
Blade Hex suddenly found herself surrounded by fog and in front of a giant dragon that was holding her friends. "Let them go!" Blade yelled out.
"Only if you give me some gems." the dragon said evilly.
Blade Hex sighed and levitated her blades off her side. "Take these, they're made of emeralds."
"A generous offer." the dragon took the blades with care and let Blade Hex's friends go.
"Don't count on it. I may be generous, but I wouldn't trust a dragon that just threatened my friends."
"What is that supposed to mean?"
Blade didn't have time to reply before both daggers exploded with tremendous force and killed the dragon. "Don't mess with my friends."

"What did you do to those?" Midnight asked.
"When I saw that the dragon had all of you, I cast an illusion spell on my daggers to hide them and created explosive clones of them."
"Did you see the look of terror that crossed that dragon's face before he exploded, that was hilarious." Shadow said with an insane giggle.
"You find fear to be funny?" Midnight asked.
"No of course not. I see Fear and laughter as the same."
"I'll go look ahead, since we're lost." Defiant said as she went ahead. She soon found a door that seemed to glow. Considering it their only chance at the moment, Defiant turned to head back, then she had a better idea. "I love this." Defiant went to a tree that she knew her friends would pass and used one of the spikes on her whip to carve out an arrow that pointed to the door, she then headed to meet her friends.
"Hey Defiant, you find anything?" Midnight asked.
"I found a door that might get us out of here, it's that way." Defiant motioned with a hoof in the direction that would lead them to her carved arrow.
The five soon found the arrow and followed it to the door.
"Why'd you lie?" Midnight asked.
"I lied by deceiving you into walking a different direction to find an arrow I carved pointing you in the right direction. I do this a lot when I'm bored. The group nodded to each other and left through the door.

Midnight looked at Blazing with confusion.
"The door silently put you through the trial so you've all been connected to an element, however I can't tell you which is which and only when ignited by a spark will the elements reveal themselves." Blazing said.
Let's just go and kill Celestia." Midnight said as she cast a shadow cloak spell on everypony to protect them from the sun

The group soon made it to Vamponyville and, under the protection of their shadow cloaks, saw the sun for the first time. The sun seemed to light anypony the it hit on fire and burn them in seconds. "I was afraid of this." Midnight said as she turned away from a pony that had fallen into the light of the sun.
"So the imbeciles have returned." Celestia said as the group entered the main hall, where she was siting.
"We've come to end you." Midnight said.
"How?"
"Our method doesn't matter."
"I never asked. Who are you again?"
"Midnight Defiance, personal student of Princess Nightmare Moon.
"Okay, now I know what to put on the grave."
Midnight had had just about enough of Celestia's talking and got ready to end her there, but Celestia and used the brief distraction to close the distance between them and slammed her into a wall.
"Midnight!" Blazing called out in fear.
As Midnight stared at her and her other four friends, something ignited inside her. A bright light blasted Celestia away as Midnight floated in the air, suspended by powerful magic. "You want to know how we'll defeat you Celestia, then I'll tell you." Midnight said
"What do you mean?" Celestia asked
"Blazing Moon, who is willing to help in a cruel manner, represents Kindness and Cruelty. Night Blood, who will betray her friends to get what they need and remain loyal to them, represents Loyalty and Betrayal. Blade Hex, who is generous at heart but has a malicious mind, represents Generosity and Malevolence. Shadow Death, who doesn't differentiate fear from laughter, represents Laughter and Fear. Defiant Shadow, who deceives to show the truth, represents Honesty and Deceit. together these five ponies hold within them the magic of harmony and chaos. Together they create the final component, Magic." Every utterance caused a necklace related towards the respective pony's cutie mark to appear around their neck, with a crown forming on Midnight's head.
"The Elements of Harmony." Celestia said with terror in her voice.
"We are chaos." Midnight whispered before a rainbow colored beam shot out of the sphere that had formed around the element bearers and hit Celestia hard, splattering blood across the wall and destroying the roof. Being as they had been the only ponies in the building, nopony was harmed except Celestia, from the blast. The elements also protected the bearers from the sun as Nightmare Moon appeared and lowered it once more.
"Good night princess." Midnight said as she and her friends bowed.
"Good night to you as well." Nightmare Moon said as Blazing got up and ran over to her, hugging her.
"Why do I get the feeling that all this was planed out?" Midnight asked.
"Because it was, I new that you six embodied the elements best and that Celestia would return."
"So... I guess I have to go back to the castle now." Midnight said sadly.
"Mist Claw take a letter." Nightmare Moon said as Mist Claw flew in.
"Yes Princess." Mist Claw said.
"I Princess Nightmare Moon hear by declare that the ponies Blade Hex, Defiant Shadow, Night Blood, and Shadow Death are to move in with me in The Ancient Castle of the Royal Pony Sisters as permanent residence. They are free to go between their homes in the castle and in Vamponyville and are to be treated as part of the family."
"Really, we can live here?" Blade Hex asked excitedly.
"Trust me, it's not easy, you'll have to memorize the secret rooms, secret passages, and traps to be able to live her safely." Blazing said.
"Wait why weren't you mentioned?"
"Blade... I'm Nightmare Moon's daughter I don't need her permission to live here and I chose to leave, I'm only at the edge though so finding me wont be hard."
"I'll get started on the party!!" Shadow Death called out before moving at blinding speeds to set the party up.
