Romance in the Air

Luna's P.O.V

I have feelings about this mare, whom I see as more than just a friend.  She is adorable in her own way, and not just that, she has also saved Equestria a few times.  She released me from the Nightmare, and she has helped me to adjust to modern Equestrian life during Nightmare Night when everypony would scream and run away.  She means something more to me......

She is more nocturnal than her friends, because she seems to adore the night.  She is my light, my Twilight, my immortal..... And also my princess.  Ever since she has become a princess, she has become more lovely and more beautiful....... Her hair is more neat, and her alicorn wings are elegant, and she is slimmer.  And, not to mention that she has more curves.

She is the only one that can understand me.  The others sometimes treat me as an outcast, but the citizens are slowly adjusting to having the Night Princess as the co-ruler of Equestria, at the very least.  Sometimes, I care about Twilight's safety.  When Tirek once imprisoned me, my sister, and Cadence into Tartarus, I feared that Twilight may lose all the magic- or worse.  Tirek was really powerful- I wondered if he has inflicted a bruise on Twilight.

When Twilight and her friends banished Tirek, I got to see her again, and she doesn't have a single bruise on her body.  The permanent bruise that will stay is Twilight's memory of her old home getting destroyed.  She doesn't seem entirely used to the new surroundings of the Friendship Castle, the castle that is in place of her old home.

I can understand all the turmoil and trauma that Twilight has to go through.  I can understand that because I've seen a few terrible things happen to Equestria a few times in my immortal life.  Some of the citizens have had nightmares after all the trauma- like losing magic and having to be so afraid.  The events seem to have affected Twilight and her friends the most- but the events may have affected the little foals so much more because they're so young.

I fly through the gorgeous night sky to visit Twilight.  The land is so silent and calm, but some of the citizens have nightmares that prove otherwise.  It is common to have nightmares after a traumatic event or a battle like when Twilight has to stop Tirek.  A few minutes later, I approach the Friendship Castle, and I land near the door.  I knock the door, and Twilight opens the door.

"Luna? What are you doing here at this time?" Twilight asked.

"I am here to visit you.  How have you been lately?" I replied.

"I'm okay.  The nightmares sometimes keep me up, and sometimes even the slightest noises bother me.  Maybe it's because of post-traumatic stress disorder."

"My sister has that, too. She wakes up every single midnight crying and shaking.  She's apparently really frightened for her life during those events."

Twilight nods, and then she invites me inside.  "Luna, I miss my old home, where all my books are. Most of them....... Gone because of this beast!" She said as she starts crying.

I place my wing over her to comfort her.  "I couldn't imagine how this must have felt," I said.

"Some ponies keep saying that I'm a hero, but I'm not sure if I can believe them.  I mean, every time I try to help my friends, they help me instead.  Sometimes I need saving, like when the aggressive crocodile in the Everfree Forest attempted to eat me up or when the letters have to be sent to me when I began to get corrupted during the chaotic return of Discord. Sometimes I have to sacrifice something, even my life, to help others. Without my friends, I'm just not strong."

"Sure, your friends help you out sometimes, and they look out for you, but that doesn't make you a damsel in distress.  Sometimes you just need their aid and their protectiveness.  And you could still save Equestria."

"But, what about that time when I couldn't stop the leader of the changelings during the Canterlot wedding, and Shining and Cadence have to save Equestria for me and my friends? That proves that I'm not a hero, but just Twilight Sparkle- the type to sometimes get saved. There are also times when I couldn't face down a beast, like when the hydra attempted to attack me when I tried to cross the swampy water.  I do get afraid a few times during my adventures."

I only nod in response.  Sure, some ponies get scared during their adventures.  Even the bravest ponies tend to get scared.

"Twilight, everypony gets scared at one point in their lives, even though they're brave.  Suppose a heroine from the story does not have any fears or weaknesses, and she gets through scary places in less than a minute.  Then, she would be a Mary Sue, right?" I said.

Twilight looks up to me.  "Yes, that would make her a Mary Sue.  I'm not like that- some ponies can relate to me," She replied.

Twilight seems to have calmed down a bit.  "Twilight, no matter what happens during your adventures, you are a hero.  It takes great courage to get through scary places, and it takes great courage to take risks, like when you try to activate the Tree of Harmony as the vines try to stop you," I said.

"But, what about when I tried to save my friends by sacrificing my magic?" Twilight asked.

"You did? When you were trying to stop Tirek? Of course, it is a risk, but in a neutral way with both pros and cons.  That beast did lose all the magic, though, so that the ponies get the magic back."

"I could have letted Celestia down if she ever finds out that I once gave up the alicorn magic."

"I don't think you could have letted my sister down- she must be proud of you."

"I'm not sure, Luna.  Some years ago, I got really worried about not sending the friendship report in time.  How is that she still forgives me?"

"She is very forgiving."

We walk upstairs a minute later, and Twilight slumps onto the bed.  "I couldn't save my pet owl, so I had to let him go during the battle.  I'm not sure where he went, but I hope he comes back someday," She said.

She closes her eyes, and she sheds a tear.  I gently wipe her tear off her cheek with my hoof.  I nuzzle her mane, and then I place my wing over her body once again.  A few hours pass, and then I sense that Twilight is having a nightmare.  I activate my magic to see what she is dreaming about.  I place my horn on Twilight's head, and then I see the nightmare.  I walk into the dream using the dreamwalking spell.

"Twilight, it is over. You have stopped him with the Elements of Harmony, and I'm sure that you won't have to go through the same thing again," I said as the scene in the dream changes to a silent dreamscape with just grass and the night sky with the full moon.

"Luna," She replied in awe, "You have saved me from the nightmare."

"You shouldn't thank me. Well, you have saved the kingdom from Tirek.  Everypony has the similiar dream about him.  The past is in the past, Twilight.  Is there someplace where you would rather be?"

"At a library..... The kind of library that is in Ponyville somewhere."

"Close your eyes, Twilight. You'll be surprised."

She closes her eyes as I change the scene to a room in the library.  The library has tons of bookshelves, with many books of multiple genres.  There are also stacks of magazines and comics on the table.  There is a desk near the office, and a pony sits behind the desk.  "Open your eyes, Twilight Sparkle. You are now in the library," I said.

Twilight opens her eyes, and gasps at the surroundings.  "Oh, Luna! You're so kind," She said.

I smile in response.  "I must visit other dreams to help other subjects, so...... Sweet dreams. I'll see you in the morning," I replied as

I use my magic to get out of the dream.

Pinkie's P.O.V

There is a slumber party in my apartment, and Twilight doesn't come because she is going through a tough time.  I'm sure she would get over the loss, right?  Besides all of that, I have certain feelings for a stallion....... The kind of stallion that once came to town to throw a party, and when I first saw him, I thought he was cute.  Of course, I am talking about Cheese Sandwich.

As Rarity starts her hooficure, I hear the phone ring.  I hop over to the phone, and I hear a familiar voice.  "Hello, Pinkie. How are you doing?" Cheese asked.

"I'm doing fine. My friends and I are having a slumber party, except for Twilight, because she's going through some after-trauma," I replied.

"I'm coming to town tomorrow. I have this feeling whenever I'm around you.  Maybe you'd like to go to the concert tomorrow?"

"Which concert?"

"The Pony Beats concert."

"That is my favorite band! How do you know it's my favorite band?"

"I'm just thinking about you."

I blush wildly, and my heart flutters.  He must feel the same way about me! I say "goodnight" before placing the phone onto the wall.  I walk back to the living room, and my friends are still awake.  Fluttershy seems a bit down for some reason.

"What is it, Fluttershy?" I asked.

"I may have forgiven Discord........ But I'm not sure if he could feel comfortable getting into a relationship with me. I mean, sometimes it's unusual to see him act shy around me.  I like him, and I'm sure he likes me- but....... I like him as more than just a friend," Fluttershy replied.

"Oh, you mean that prankster that sometimes betrays us.  Sometimes he couldn't be trusted," Apple Jack said.

"I don't think you're helping," Rarity told Apple Jack.

"Sure, Discord has turned his back on us a few times. We should give him another chance," Fluttershy said.

"Maybe," Rainbow Dash replied.

"You need some cheering up! Parties are about fun, not about memories of the events that happened a few weeks ago! Have a cupcake," I told Fluttershy.

I lend her a cupcake, and Fluttershy smiles as she takes a bite of the cupcake.  "Feel better now?" I asked.

"Maybe so," Fluttershy replied.

"Sometimes it is hard to go through the tough time," Rarity said, "Especially when a friend has betrayed us, only to get back on our side."

"Rarity has a point," Apple Jack said.

"Okay! Who wants to hear a story?" I asked.

"We do," They said in unison.
