Doctor Whooves 50th anniversary: The Quest of the Doctor

Back on Vortis the two Doctors, Twilight, Jo and Grace were still following Techa to the temple. Suddenly, something falling from the sky resembling a meteor caught Jo’s Doctor’s attention. The object crashed some distance from the group,                                       “great balls of fire!” Jo’s Doctor said,                                                                                                                                                  “What was that?” Twilight asked, looking to where the object had crashed.                                                                                                                   Techa landed alongside the group, “it is not like anything me or my people have ever seen” he said.                                                                                                                                                               “Well let’s investigate”, Jo’s Doctor said,                                                                                                                                              “I agree” Grace’s Doctor said.                                                                                                                                                        When the group reached the place where the object had crashed, they found that the object was some kind of spaceship.                                 It had made a smoking crater in the ground where it had crashed. Now that it wasn’t on fire Twilight noticed that the ship was a metal sliver coloured and was sphere shaped. Then a door almost camouflaged in the metal sphere opened and a powerful helmeted humanoid figure stepped out. He was covered in steel blue battle armour; he was followed by an identical group of figures.                           Jo’s Doctor recognized the figures instantly, “Sontarans” he said, in a flat voice.                                                                                     What followed the helmeted figures surprised both the Doctors as a figure, no, a machine this time, with a cuboid shaped body and a sphere shaped head marched out of the ship. Protruding from the sides and top of its head were red spikes.                                        Two rectangular compartments were marked on the machine’s chest and the machine’s legs were block shaped.                                    Apart from the red spikes on the head the rest of the machine was coloured black and grey.                                                                    The first machine was followed by a group of identical machines.                                                                                                       Grace’s Doctor recognized the Sontaran’s allies, “the Quarks?!” he said, surprised.                                                                                       All the ponies and Techa looked confused, the Doctors both explained about the Quarks and Sontarans.                                                    How the Sontarans were a war clone race from the planet Sontar and how the Quarks are rebel robotic servants from the Dominators Empire. After they had finished explaining both the ponies and Techa looked horrified,                                                                                                                   “My people are a peaceful race. With the Sontarans and Quarks weaponry…” his voice begin to shake,                                                     “my people will be massacred” Jo’s Doctor gave Techa a look of reassuring, “we’ll save your people Techa” he said.                                     He turned back to where the group Sontarans and Quarks had formed, to listen to what they were talking about.                                      “Both ours and the Quark troops are ready, Commander Strom” one of the battle armour clad figures was saying,                                            “very good field major Kaarsh” the figure Kaarsh had called Storm said.                                                                                                  He turn to one of the Quarks, “your troops are to fan out and find either Doctor or his friends” he said.                                                      The Quark spoke in a high pitched voice, “We will seek out the one known the Doctor” the Quark said.                                                  Once both Quarks and Sontarans had their orders they all moved off. The Doctors, Techa and the others got out sight,                                                 “So the Master must have sent the Sontarans and the Quarks here to slow us down” Grace’s Doctor said, after some thought.            “We must continue to the temple before they know where we are” Jo’s Doctor said, the group continued on their way.

Then a bright flash of light caught the group’s attention, “more Sontarans?” Jo asked her Doctor,                                                                         “I don’t think so Jo” Jo’s Doctor said, looking thoughtful, all the ponies and Techa rushed to the place where the flash of light had come from. When they all reached the place they were all surprised to see two female Unicorn ponies: the first one was coloured mint green with a pale light greyish cyan mane with white highlights, the second Unicorn was coloured light cornflower blue with a moderate blue mane with light Persian bluish grey stripes in it.                                                                                                                                                                    “Are they ok?” Twilight asked, not sure if the two Unicorns were conscious,                                                                                                “I’ll check” Grace said, stepping forward and placing her hoof lightly on both the Unicorns necks to check their pulses.                                                                                                                                                “They’re both breathing but they both seem unconscious” she told Twilight.                                                                                         “When will they come around?” Twilight asked. Before Grace could answer the mint green Unicorn groaned, shook her head and opened her eyes. The first thing she saw were the two Doctors, Twilight, Jo and Grace,                                                                                                                                                  “Hello there, my dear” Jo’s Doctor said, trying not to frighten the Unicorn.                                                                                              The Unicorn struggled to her hooves confused and unsure of whether the group of ponies were hostile or not.                                                                                                                                 “Who are you ponies?” she asked, her voice shaking with fear.                                                                                                             Grace’s Doctor stepped towards the Unicorn, “we don’t want to hurt you, Miss” he said, trying to create a calm atmosphere.                                                                                                                                       “How can I trust you?” the Unicorn asked, still a bit scared.                                                                                                                “Trust me, I’m the Doctor” Grace’s Doctor said, with a reassuring look.                                                                                                      The Unicorn seemed to recognise the Doctors name,                                                                                                                                   “You’re the Doctor? You don’t look anything like the Doctor I know…” the Unicorn said, looking at Grace’s Doctor with a look of puzzlement and surprise, “my Doctor looks a lot different to you” she went on.                                                                                                                                                                         Both the Doctors exchanged looks, “well me and my good friend here…” Grace’s Doctor said, looking over at Jo’s Doctor,                                                                                                                                                      “….are your Doctor before he met you and your friend” Jo’s Doctor finished, trying to make the explanation as simple as possible.                                                                                                                          “And by the way what is your name, Miss?” he added,                                                                                                                      “Oh…” the Unicorn said, nearly forgetting herself “my name’s Lyra, Lyra heartstrings”,                                                                         “That’s a very beautiful name for a unicorn like yourself” Grace’s Doctor said, and he went on to introduce Lyra to Twilight, Jo, Grace and his other self. Lyra was still a bit confused about their being two Doctors and why they both looked different to the Doctor she and her friend knew. But Twilight filled Lyra in on some of the details, like how the Doctors were on a mission for the White Guardian to stop an old evil. It wasn’t long before the other Unicorn coughed and opened her eyes. Lyra helped her friend to her hooves,                    “who are these ponies Lyra?” she asked, when she caught sight of the Doctors and their friends.                                                                                                                                                                          “Those two stallions are the Doctor, Colgate” Lyra said, introducing her friend to the two Doctors.                                                            The Unicorn Lyra had called Colgate, looked at both the Doctors with the same look that Lyra had given both of them and said exactly the same thing Lyra had said. “Let’s just say he is one of him” Lyra said pointing at both the Doctors.                                       Colgate seemed to understand. “But more to the point…” Jo’s Doctor said “how did you and Colgate get here, Lyra?”

“Well me and Colgate were in Ponyville getting something to eat,” Lyra explained, “When we saw a strange shape in the sky.                    We thought it might be a cloud. But it swooped down and scooped us up and I don’t remember anything until we got here” she finished.

“This all sounds strangely familiar to me” Grace’s Doctor muttered to Jo’s Doctor.                                                                                          “It seems as though the Master is using some form of time scoop to transport both Miss Lyra and Miss Colgate from Ponyville to Vortis” Jo’s Doctor replied. Then both Lyra and Colgate caught sight of Techa who had been hanging back,                                                                                                           “And what in Celestia’s name are you?” Lyra asked. Both she and Colgate were a bit shocked at Techa’s insect-like appearance. Techa stepped forward, “I’m a Menoptera, one of the species which inhabits this planet called Vortis” he said, trying his best not to scare Lyra or Colgate. But while Techa was telling Lyra and Colgate about where they were, Jo’s Doctor noticed a cuboid shaped outline moving nearby. Without any warning a Quark soldier drone burst forth from the bushes. The Quark seemed to be interested in both the Doctors. It took no notice of Twilight, Jo, Grace, Lyra, Colgate or Techa.                                                                                      “You two are the ones known as the Doctor” the drone spoke in its high pitched voice. Both the Doctors didn’t seem surprised by the Quark knowing who they were, “It’s been a long time since me or my other selves have dealt with you lot or your Dominator masters for that matter”, Grace’s Doctor said. The two rectangular compartments on the Quark’s chest unfolded. Twilight guessed that the rectangular compartments were the Quarks weapons. Twilight looked around for something to distract it and she saw a small rock laying a little distance from her. Twilight’s horn glowed light, brilliant, raspberry as she used her magic to pick up the small rock. Trying not to make any noise, Twilight threw the rock at the Quark. The drone had taken aim and was about to fire when the rock hit it, knocking the Quark onto its side and its shot went wide. “That was some very good magic, Miss Sparkle” Jo’s Doctor said. He started to examine the downed Quark drone,                                                                                                                                                                   “Let’s see what we can get out of this one,” he continued.                                                                                                                    Twilight saw him take a small tube shaped device out of one of his pockets in his jacket.                                                                    Twilight assumed that it was his sonic screwdriver. She also noticed that Jo’s Doctor’s Screwdriver looked nothing like her Doctor’s screwdriver. This screwdriver had black and yellow stripes and a red trim on top, but it made the same noise and that was good enough for her. Grace’s Doctor joined Jo’s Doctor taking a similar device out of his coat pocket.                                                                This screwdriver was silver with a brass trim ring on the lower grip. On the top was a silver ring with a red bullet shape in the centre. Both the Doctors worked with both screwdrivers to deactivate the Quark and remove its head.                                                            “Shouldn’t we just leave it here?” Applejack asked one of the Doctors.                                                                                               “Normally yes, but we have to stop it sending a distress signal to the other Quarks and the Sontarans  and we have to find where it was sent form, Miss Applejack” Grace’s Doctor explained.                                                                                                                          “I think we should continue on our way to the temple before we attract any more attention” Jo’s Doctor said,                                       “agreed” Grace’s Doctor nodded, he turned to the rest of the group, “we need to keep on moving to the temple” he said, all the ponies and Techa nodded, “Techa I think it might be a good idea for you to stay on the ground” Jo’s Doctor, chipped in and without another word all the ponies and the Menoptera ran off towards where the temple was located.

Back on the planet Telos, the Doctors and their friends were nearing the temple Pinkie had pointed out.                                                         The outline was still blurry but as they got nearer it slowly became clearer.                                                                                          Suddenly a ding noise caught the group’s attention, “where’s that coming from?” Rarity asked,                                                              Martha’s Doctor revealed the source of the ding noise.                                                                                                                               It was a box shaped device about the size of a portable radio, which it was, with a phone receiver on top.                                                   He pulled it out of one of the pockets in his coat, putting the phone receiver to his ear,                                                                                                                                     “what is that weird device and how did that fit in your coat pocket?” Rarity asked,                                                                                                                                                                 “They’re bigger on the inside” Martha’s Doctor replied “and this is my Timey-Wimey detector, it starts making that noise in the presents of temporal anomalies” he went on,                                                                                                                                          “that’s such funny a name ‘Timey-Wimey’” Pinkie pie said, finding the detectors riming name funny.                                                      Martha’s Doctor pointed the detector in a westerly direction.                                                                                                                         The ding noise grew stronger, the other members of the group followed him.                                                                                             After they had been walking for ages the detector stopped making a ding noise,                                                                                            “It never did this before” Martha’s Doctor’s said, giving the detector a good shake to make sure it was working properly.                                                                                                              He was just about to put the detector back into his coat when a sudden ball of light appeared in front of them.                                        When it ceased, two female ponies, one Earth pony the other a Unicorn both lay unconscious in the blowing snow.                                The Earth pony was coloured goldish grey with a dark grey mane and tail with a lighter tint in it she was wearing a pink bow-tie with a white collar. The Unicorn was coloured yellowish white with a moderate, cobalt blue mane and tail with brilliant, cyan stripes in it she was wearing, wearing dark purple shades.                                                                                                                         “By Celestia are OK?” Martha asked, a bit concerned in the two ponies were alright Martha’s Doctor took a stethoscope out of his coat and passed it to Martha. Martha put the stethoscope on and put on the both the ponies chest to check their heart bets,                         “it’s alright their both alive” she said, breathing a sigh a relief Martha handed the stethoscope back to her Doctor,                                       “they should be waking any time soon” she told the others, just as Martha finished what she was saying the goldish grey Earth Pony chocked, spluttered and opened her eyes. At she didn’t notices the cold or the snow but then she noticed that she was on another planet in the middle of a snow then she noticed Doctors and their friends,                                                                                                                                                         “who are ponies? And why are me and Vinyl here?” she said referring to the yellowish white Unicorn.                                                  Martha’s Doctor stepped towards the Earth Pony, “look we don’t know how you got here maybe you tell us”, the grey Earth Pony thought from a bit, “well me and Vinyl were on our way to pick up a package from the post office in Ponyville were nearing it when we saw a strange thing hanging in the sky…” Martha’s Doctor stopped the grey Earth pony,                                                                “what’s was this ‘strange thing’ you saw? Miss…, actually what is your name?” he asked,                                                                      “Oh my names Octavia” the grey Earth Pony said, “and to answer your other question about this ‘strange thing’ me and Vinyl both saw it was like swirling pyramid but see-through it scoop us up and dropped us here” Octavia finished, both Sarah’s and Martha’s Doctors thought over what Octavia had said, “right then” Martha’s Doctor after some thought and discussion with his other self,                                       “Sine’s you answered my question I’ll answer yours Octavia, I am the Doctor and I love your bow tie by the way” he continued handing Octavia his coat and taking flask of hot chocolate out of it when he saw how cold she was getting,                                                                                                                               “you look nothing like the Doctor me and Vinyl know our Doctor wears a green tie not a blue suit” Octavia replied,                                       “that’s because I’m your Doctor before he met you and your friend” Martha’s Doctor explained, trying to keep the explanation short and he also explained how there were two of him and introduced Octavia to his and his other selves’ companions.                                     Captain Jack did his whole ‘hello and who are you’ thing much to Martha’s Doctor annoyance.                                                                               After they had all met properly the yellowish white Unicorn croft and open her eyes. At first she didn’t notice the Doctors or their companions, “What happened Octy” she blubbed through a disorientated haze,                                                                                                                                               “We’re not in Ponyville anymore Vinyl” Octavia answered.                                                                                                                       The yellowish white Unicorn shook her head and looked around. Then she noticed the Doctors and their companions,                               “ok, who are you ponies” she said reacting the same way Octavia did.                                                                                                   Octavia quickly explained to Vinyl who the two stallions were and who the female Earth ponies were,                                                        “so you the Doc before me and Octy met him” Vinyl said trying to get her head around what had been said,                                                                                                                                                                         “spot on Miss…” Martha’s Doctor said he stopped short,                                                                                                                                                                                 “DJ Pon-3 or Vinyl Scratch is the name don't wear in them out” Vinyl said,                                                                                               just then K-9 approached the two ponies, “High traces of Kronon energy detected” he said,                                                                                                  “Cool robot dog, Doc” Vinyl said gazing at K-9 in amazement,                                                                                                             “but…” she added turning to the Doctors “why does he look so beaten up?”,                                                                                                                “hey…” Martha’s Doctor said,                                                                                                                                              “…in the year 5000 he was cutting edge” Sarah’s Doctor finished, he saw that Vinyl was getting cold he passed her his scarf,                                                                                                                                                 “so you and Vinyl should stick with us” Martha’s Doctor said,                                                                                                                “we don’t have a choice just like our Doctor” Octavia said,                                                                                                                    “you may not look like our Doctor but you’re ok in my books” Vinyl said and with that the Doctors and their Friends continued on their way to the temple.

Back in the dark chamber the hooded pony gazed at his monitor screens which told him all the progress of the Doctors,                      “Supreme one, is there news?” the grinding metal voice from earlier said, the hooded pony looked at his monitor quickly,                                                                                                    “no, no news of any of the segments being recovered, the Doctors are taking their time” he replied. From another dark room a pony like figure in a Dalek style wheelchair slowly moved out of the darkness of his surroundings,                                                                                                                                         “I mean, have the Doctors found out that they have been tricked?” the pony in the wheelchair said,                                                              “no the Doctors have no idea I’m playing a game with them” the hooded pony replied,                                                                    “Fascinating, If I had not helped resurrect you, I could almost mistake that tone for one of victory.                                                             Beware your pride Supreme one” the pony in the wheelchair said amused at the hooded pony’s obliviousness.                                               He started to drum his three metal clawed fingers on his wheelchair,                                                                                                           “the Doctor is helping me conquer the universe” the hooded pony said with a bit of frustration,                                                                        “And yet, Morbius is uneasy” the pony in the wheelchair flicked a switch on the control panel set into the base of his Dalek wheelchair and on the far side of the chamber a light came on illuminating a truly hideous creature. It had the body and left front leg and back legs of a pony where its right hoof had been a giant crab-like pincer was now attached. But its head was truly horrifying it looked a bit like a gold fish bowl the top of which had shattered.                                                                                                          The bowl was attached to the neck, the brain which throbbed was placed in the centre of the bowl with various coloured wires attached to it two eye storks were attached to the gold fish bowl like head of the creature.                                                         The creature was chained to a metal seat.                                                                                                                                                 The hooded pony gazed at the creature though his monitor, “that abomination is insane” he said,                                                             “show respect” the wheelchair pony said,                                                                                                                                       “Without Morbius neither you or your plan would be possible, and he speaks only the truth” he finished.                                               The creature spoke, its voice sounding a bit like the pony in the wheelchair but a bit higher,                                                                     “The Doctor, the destroyer, the killer of our race, he will bring about the everlasting darkness, master of us all” the creature laughed maniacally.
