Warfare Equestria

Chapter 4

    They woke to the sound of yelling and screaming. All of them hurried outside only to wish they hadn't come. It was an awful sight. The whole town was on fire and worst of all, the elves had started it.

    "Rarity! Where are you?!" Applejack shouted.

    "Applejack help!" Came Rarity's scream. "I'm trapped!" She shouted over the noise.

    "Hold on Rarity! I'm coming!" Applejack shouted at her love. Applejack had trained in close combat and could jump high and far. She  held her breath and jumped over the fire and smoke to get to Rarity. Held in Applejack's strong grip, Rarity felt safe again and together they made their way out of town.

    Pinkie Pie was running alongside Twilight who was gasping for air. Soon she would faint. "Pinkie, help." Came her effortless ask for help.

    "Twilight?" Pinkie asked turning around. "Twilight!" She yelled as she saw Twilight about to faint. "Hang in there Twilight!" She took Twilight into her arms and ran through the up-rising smoke. Pinkie found Applejack and Rarity on a cart with just enough space for six, next to them was another cart good enough for Applebloom, Big McIntosh and Granny Smith.

    Rainbow Dash was already carrying the weak Fluttershy towards Applejack's cart. Twilight was starting to wake up and heard Applebloom's scream for help. Twilight may have hated the girl who bossed her around but she wasn't going to leave her to die. Twilight flapped her wings as fast as she could to find Applebloom surrounded by elves with swords. She quickly flew down and grabbed Applebloom from the arms. It was harder to fly in the smoke but Twilight tried her best mostly holding her breath. When they reached the cart, even from that high you could hear Pinkie's and Applejack's sigh of relief. Quickly the two carts set off to find a new home.

    In the cart Rarity leaned against Applejack. Applejack sighed at the loss of her home.

    "I'm so sorry Applejack." Rarity said.

    "It's okay sugar. It wasn't your fault." Applejack said with one tear rolling down her cheek.

    Pinkie was leaning against Twilight and Fluttershy was sleeping in Rainbow's arms, it could be a long journey.

    They had to stop for the night, they hadn't eaten all they eaten all day and every one was weak of hunger.

    "Where will I ever find a home as good as my last one." Pinkie whispered to herself at the brink of crying.

    "Don't worry Pinkie." Twilight said taking Pinkie's hand. "You'll find a new home. And no matter what happens I will stay by your side." She continued. "You're my happiness." She pressed her head against Pinkie's shoulder.

    "And you are my love." Pinkie whispered back.

    Rarity was sitting with Applejack, bandaging her burns. Applejack whispered something softly to her and Rarity giggled even despite the situation.

    "I know it wasn't your fault that your family attacked us." Applejack said after Rarity had finished bandaging her burns. "They must have thought you were in danger, I don't blame them, such a wonderful girl must always be safe." Applejack said. Rarity giggled again.

    "Applejack, thank you for not blaming me. I know I deserve it." Rarity said looking down at her crossed feet.

    "You know you don't." Applejack said lifting Rarity's chin up. "Nobody could blame you for something you didn't do!" Applejack stroked the wavy hair.

    Rainbow Dash was cleaning Fluttershy's injuries when Fluttershy lifted her head up.

    "Rainbow, as much as this situation is bad, I can't help but feel happy you're with me." Fluttershy smiled.

    "Me too, Flutters." Rainbow smiled back.

    They were about to repeat last night but Applebloom interrupted them. She interrupted everybody.

    "It's happened." She said loudly. "The war has begun!" Everybody gasped.

    "You're right!" Pinkie said loudly, "The elves declared war when they lit our village on fire!"

    "Couldn't agree more!" Twilight said supporting Pinkie.

    "Also, I have to thank someone." Applebloom said looking at Twilight. "Twilight Sparkle saved me from a dozen of elves, without her bravery, I wouldn't be here now. Thank you Twilight." Applebloom finished. Twilight smiled from next to Pinkie, she had known she would gain the little girl's trust somehow.

    Pinkie leaned in to kiss Twilight in congratulation and Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash finished their own moment of last night.

Applejack's and Rarity's lips met again that night too. Even without hope, everyone found comfort from their loved ones.

There was love in the air.

    Applebloom looked at Applejack and Rarity, still deep in a kiss. On an ordinary day, she would have yelled at Applejack of falling for an elf but today was not ordinary, besides, both of the elves had proven their worthiness.

    They slept close to each other, getting warmth form each others presence.

    As the first rays of sunlight hit the land everyone was up and going. Applejack was riding the horses who were pulling the warriors cart and Big McIntosh was riding the other horses. Applebloom had tried to find herbs and berries fit for breakfast but without result. Twilight was sitting next to Pinkie writing in a leather-bound book and Rarity had straight away gone to sit outside with Applejack to watch the sunrise. Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash were both asleep for they had stayed up almost two nights straight.

    Rarity was riding the horse next to Applejack as the sun rose.

    "Isn't this so romantic?" Rarity sighed.

    "Yes, the war scene just completed it." Applejack joked.

    "Oh Applejack." Rarity laughed a melodious laugh.

    "You know, I've never ever felt a spark between a person." Applejack said.

    When Rarity turned horrified, Applejack laughed, "Until I met you." She finished.

    "Well, I have felt a spark between other people but I have never felt a flame." Rarity topped Applejack's sentence.

    Applejack laughed at Rarity's way of thinking, such a wonderful girl, she thought.

    When the sun was at it's peak a small town came into sight. It wasn't odd that this town appeared to be in the middle of nowhere. It was odd that it was floating in the air. They could see hundreds of avians flying through the streets.

    "Rainbow! Fluttershy!" Applejack called. "I think we've reached Cloudsdale!"

    Rainbow and Fluttershy both looked out at the same time. "Fluttershy! We're home!!!" Rainbow shot across the sky laughing. Fluttershy followed, slower but perhaps even happier than Rainbow.

    "I can see my family!" Fluttershy happily cried and speeded towards the town.

    Rarity watched happily as the two set off. She was glad they could find trust in their own kind, not in the first stranger they met. Still, she was happy with Applejack.

    "Rarity do you realize what this means?" Applejack asked taking Rarity's hand in her own.

    "Well?" Rarity asked playfully.

    "We found a new home! Surely avians must let us use this town as a temporary home!" Applejack smiled. "Come on! Let's go see it!"

    Rarity hesitated, the avians didn't look happy, they looked like slaves, besides, the high platform village reminded her of her nightmare. Like when she looked up Applejack would disappear.

    Rainbow Dash was the first one to reach the gates. She was glad she did for Fluttershy was not to see this. Nor were the others.

The sight was awful. Anyone who stood up at the Rebellion and favored Celestia or the Sunlight's kingdom must have been excecuted. Rainbow or the others weren't favoring Celestia for reasons but they weren't with the Rebels either. Rainbow Dash stopped everybody with the wave of her arm.

    "What is it Rainbow Dash?" Fluttershy asked shyly. Rainbow shushed her. Not harshly but roughly enough to make Fluttershy look down at her feet hovering in the air. Flying had always been a tough subject for Fluttershy. Her wings won't carry her as fast as others and she was the slightest bit afraid of hights. She shouldn't have looked down. Her wings froze and she let out a small 'eep' as she saw the ground.

    "Fluttershy I told you to keep—" Rainbow was silenced as she saw Fluttershy falling down. It was around fifteen metres to the ground and she had already reached halfway through. Fluttershy's eyes were closed amd tears were flowing from them as she fell. Her lips mouthed the sentence:

    "Good-bye Rainbow."

    "No!!!" Rainbow shouted and flashed towards Fluttershy. "I can't let you go already when I just got you." She said quietly as metres became centimetres and Fluttershy fell closer to her doom.

    A flash of grey stopped her. Somebody had taken hold of Fluttershy just mere millimetres away from the ground. The avian descended down with Fluttershy holding tightly to his shoulders.

    "Thunderlane? Is that you?" Rainbow asked. You could barely recognize the avian from under the scars. He had been through a lot. Fluttershy was still shaking in Thunderlane's arms. Rainbow quickly stepped forward and helped Fluttershy down. Fluttershy squeezed herself against Rainbow tightly and softly cried into her shoulder. Rainbow wrapped her arms around Fluttershy's head and pressed her nose into her hair to inhale that foresty, earthy smell. She wasn't going to lose her. Thunderlane sighed as he watched the two hold on to each other tightly. As his eyes moved on to Applejack and Rarity both holding hands and looking warmly at the two his smile faded. An elf. In the base of the Lunar Rebels. As his eyes moved on once again and set on Pinkie Pie and Twilight Sparkle he inhaled quickly. Pinkie turned around from Twilight and raised her eyebrows at Thunderlane, "What?" She asked rolling her eyes.

    Thunderlane didn't answer but jumped up and flew behind Twilight and took hold of her hands and gripped them tightly behind her back. Twilight gasped from pain for he had a strong grip. Twilight tried to move her hands but as she did so she felt the pressure tighten around her wrist with a cold strong grip. She inhaled quickly from the pain. She moved her wrists again only to feel one snap under the pressure. The pain was unthinkable. Black spots appeared in her eyes as the pain made her black out. The last thing she saw was Pinkie running at her with her arms forward. That's when she realized Thunderlane had put handcuffs on her.

    Pinkie Pie shouted Twilight's name until she realized Twilight was hanging limp in handcuffs. "What did you do to her?!?" Pinkie screamed and took out her sword and wildly sliced at Thunderlane's neck. Thunderlane dodged quickly with Twilight limply hanging from the handcuffs he held in his hands.

    "Trust me. It's for the best." Thunderlane said grimly and flew in the gates. Pinkie Pie's hair straightened and her pupils went small as she looked at Thunderlane's fogure already quite far away in the city streets.

    "Uh Oh." Applejack said backing up. "Watch out. The real Pinkamena is here." She said pulling Rarity away from Cloudsdale.

    "You'll be very sorry Thunderlane." Pinkie Pie whispered loudly. "You'll be very sorry for messing with Pinkamena." Pinkie jumped up all fifteen metres like it was nothing and entered the city.

    "We have to go after her! She might hurt someone!" Fluttershy said quickly flying up to enter the city.

    "Fluttershy wait!" Rainbow shouted and flew up to her. "Our families are not in there. That's the base of the Lunar Rebels." Rainbow Dash said already holding Fluttershy incase her confidence betrayed her.

    "It... It is?" Fluttershy asked shaking all over.

    "Yes." Rainbow said holding Fluttershy tighter.

    "Oh Rainbow Dash." Fluttershy weeped into Rainbow's shoulder as the bad news registered. "I thought I could start a new life without war here. Now I see I will never find complete happiness. Oh how I wish I had fallen." Fluttershy shook.

    "Don't say that. I would have killed myself if you had left me." Rainbow said stroking Fluttershy's hair. "I only just got you."

    Fluttershy wiped a tear away. "Rainbow?"

    Rainbow Dash wiped another tear away with her thumb. "Yes?"

    "Will you promise to stay with me for ever?" Fluttershy looked up into Rainbow's magenta eyes.

    "Of course I will!!" Rainbow said holding Fluttershy close as they descended to the ground only to be stopped by Thunderlane's voice.

    "Halt! By order of our leader, I here by declare Princess Twilight to be excecuted and the rest of you imprisoned in our base, Cloudsdale." Fluttershy gasped.

    "Twilight's going to die?" She said squeezing Rainbow's hand.

    "So is this one." Thunderlane kicked the cuffed and gagged Pinkie off the edge for Applejack to catch and lay on the ground. Pegasi flew down to cuff each one of them. Fluttershy panic and struggled only to have her wrist snap just like Twilight's. Rainbow glared at the soldiers but said nothing. It was important for a jail break to have your mouth ungagged. Pinkie stood up with her hair poofy again and tears streaming down onto her gag. Even through the gag you could hear her worried whisper:

    "Twilight..."

    They were each roughly carried up into the city. As they entered Cloudsdale Rainbow realized she still had her wings to fly with only to groan in pain as they were chained together making her unable to fly. Fluttershy didn't just groan. She shouted in pain as her wings got chained up.

    Rainbow turned around: "You little..." She jumped. High. Her feet hit the first guard. She jumped over her cuffs and used them to push another guard down. Thunderlane was the third one to hit the ground unmoving. The other guards fled from the rainbow coloured hurricane. Rarity jumped over her her cuffs too so she could reach her wand. Everyone followed their example and jumped over their cuffs. Pinkie Pie had Fluttershy remove her gag. Rarity jumped up and flicked her arm in which she held her wand. A blue light swished out and broke the chains and cuffs that held the warriors.

    Rainbow nodded her head at Rarity as a thank you. She shouldn't have suspected anything of her in the first place. She was okay.

"Now let's go save Twilight!" Pinkie shouted in to the sky.

    "Let's do this!" The rebels shouted.

    "Together!" Fluttershy mumbled.

    "Together." Rainbow smiled.

    "The war won't end until justice!!!" Pinkie shouted and ran with her friends towards the arena.
