Chapter 2View OnlineThought Fire and FlamesChapter 2Blaze was awoken from his short slumbering, hearing his younger sisters screams. He saw smoke arise from under his door. Blaze quickly got up now knowing why Flames was screaming partially. He tried opening his door but to no avail the door didn't budge an inch. Blaze just remembered that he was a unicorn and that he could use magic to teleport out of his room safely. He teleported out of his smoking room and into the burning hallway. He heard wheezing and coughing from his parent room. He knew that his parents were gonna die if he never helped them escape from the burning room. When Blaze teleported into their room he saw his parents limb bodies huddled together trying to protect themselves from the collapsing ceiling. His breathing had become heavier and shortened as the smoke filled his lungs. Blazes horn glowed with a magic aura as he tried to lift there bodies off the bed. His dad saw him trying to help them escape. "Blaze stop you're too young to lift the both of us up." Blaze just looked at him and kept trying to lift them up until his body was exhausted. At this point he started to cry as he knew what was gonna happen to his beloved parents that he adored. "Blaze dear please come over here and lay with us for a moment." He obeyed his mother and climbed in between them. They hugged him tightly and told him to leave without them but he refused as the tears came faster and harder. They both hugged him once more and said goodbye then their hug on him loosened as they passed on into the oblivion of death. Blaze heard a glass shattering when he got up. It was his little sister, he knew it was her because after the shatter there was a buzzing noise which must have been her small wings attempting to keep her body in the air but Blaze knew she wouldn't survive the four story fall. He teleported out of the house just as the entire building collapsed in on itself. Blaze sat there as he watched all of his memories burn down just as the ambulances and firetrucks arrived. He looked around and saw a small black patched ball of fur on the ground. Blaze walked up to it but as he got closer he could hear soft sobs from the fur ball. It was Flames, she was curled up in a ball repeating the same words "It's all my fault" over and over again. She was barely recognizable, her mane was halfway burnt off and had streaks of black imprinted in it. Blaze turned her body forward and looked at her face. Her eyes were tightly shut and her face was stained with dry tears that still streamed down her charred face. Flames opened her eyes and looked up at her big brother. "I'm so sorry, its all my fault." He grabbed her and cradled her in his hooves to comfort her until the fire squad put the fire out
Chapter 3View OnlineThought Fire and FlamesChapter 3After they put the fire out, Princess Celestia came by to tell them what was gonna happen to them. "I'm terribly sorry for your loss but alas there is nothing we can do to fix it." Flames was still crying saying it was all her fault. Blaze hugged her softly before Celestia said something else "Young colt, it comes to my attention that you've applied for my school now I've looked over your résumé and I'm pleased to say that you've been accepted." Blazes eyes widened and he grinned from ear to ear and jumped for joy until he looked back at Flames ,her face was filled with distraught and her big red eyes were pleading him not to leave her behind. "Princess if I go to your school what will happen to my sister?" Princess Celestia took a minute but said. "She'll have to go to the orphanage." Blaze was a bit sad that she couldn't come with him so he turned around to apologize but when he turned around Flames wasn't in the spot she was before. Flames was running as fast as her little legs could in the opposite direction they were in. Blaze tried to run after her but Celestia's hoof stopped him. As Flames ran faster she could faintly hear Blaze say "Please don't go..." Flames had continued to run not having a specific place in mind. She only was to be alone and away from the placed she used to call home. After about half an hour of running with some breaks in between, Flames ended up in a small town called Ponyville. Most of the town was sleeping because it was the middle of the night, only a few ponies were awake because they were closing up their shops and some restaurants were open because it was a full house. Flames decided that she would find somewhere to stay until she could earn enough bits and build her own house. She walked through the town slowly, examining the details of the buildings surrounding her. Flames got a few stares from the shopkeepers, she looked like she was a living piece of charcoal walking around. Afr a few more minutes Flames found an open restaurant with a help wanted sign in the window, she decided that she would get a job. She walked inside quietly trying not to make a sound and walked up to the counter. "Excuse me, but I'd like to have a job here please." The mare at the counter looked confused and turned her head left and right trying to locate the sound of the voice. Flames grew a bit impatient and tapped her hoof against the counter. The mare looked over the counter and saw Flames, all covered in soot and dirt. The mare gasped at this sight and came out from her position behind the counter. "Little filly why are you here, why have you come here, where are your parents?" Flames flinched a bit about the mention of her parents and teared up again but told the older mare her story. By the ending of the tale the older made was crying along with Flames and hugged her. "Oh you poor thing you've been through so much and you were so brave to come here and ask for a job." The mares name was Trinity Sunshine, a middle aged mare with a light pink coat and a fuchsia mane with deal yellow eyes. She offered Flames to live with her until she was old enough to live on her own and until she had enough bits to build her own house. For about eight years Flames lived with Trinity, working with her for some tips and finally earning enough to get the supplies to build a house. Flames explored Ponyville looking for a spot to build her house but there we're no spaces left so she explored even farther, traveling into a forest far from town. Flames passed a large lake with a boulder in the middle of it while looking for a spot to live.
Chapter 4View OnlineThought Fire and FlamesChapter 4She found a big clearing with some trees and thought it was a nice place to build her house. It was pretty far from the town but that didn't bother her. Everyday for about two years Flames would go back to the clearing and build part of her house, it took so long to build it because she was doing it all by herself and because she had to carry all the stuff to the clearing and she had to make the house look perfect. When Flames showed Trinity her house she almost cried. "What's wrong Aunt Trinity?" (that's what Flames called her) Trinity wiped the falling tears from her face and said. "It's nothing just that I don't want you to move out your like my daughter and your too young to live alone." The tears were now flowing down Trinity's face which made Flames frown, she didn't want her dear caretaker to cry. It made her sad to see her like this. "Auntie I'm not gonna move out just yet, I still have to purchase furnishing and stuff and that's gonna take some time to accomplish." Flame hugged her and tried her best to comfort her crying aunt. Flames and Trinity both went home together and and got some rest to calm down. Flames got a job at a restaurant as a waitress. She got paid minimum wage which was alright except that her boss always complained that she didn't give enough effort to smile but it never phased her. There was no reason to smile so why do it, her life was a complete disaster. Her parents were dead, she still didn't have her cutie mark and barely anypony knew she existed. Flames thought about her older brother one day while she was washing the dishes at work. It made her smile a bit then her boss walked in. "Finally you smile for once I knew you could do it." He grinned but out of the force of habit Flames quickly frowned. "Hello Mr. Forthtrot." Flames looked back at the sink and continued to clean the dishes. "That smile was very adorable you should do it more often." He still wore that cheesy grin but she ignored him and just washed the same plate over again. "There's a table that needs to be served go on and do it Flames." She looked at him. "But I have to finish the dishes. "Mr. Forthtrot simply just walked over to her and gently pushed he out the kitchen door and handed her the tray. "Don't worry I'll finish them for you" then the doors swung closed. Flames sighed and went to deliver the tray. The table she had to serve had ponies about her age and they were all colts and very noisy ones at that. Flames served them without saying anything then started walking back to the kitchen until one of the colts called her back for something. They started snickering once Flames came back to the table and she just said, "What?" The colts all exchanged looks from each other until one of the colts, the noisiest of the bunch asked. "Are you single at the moment?" He looked her up and down slowly while snickering which made Flames a bit mad then she answered. "Of course I am why wouldn't I?" Then she stormed off back into the kitchen. After a few days of working the colts were back again and waiting. Flames knew that she was gonna have to serve them but then one of the other waitresses went to their table to serve them and that filled Flames with relief. It didn't take long for the waitress to come back and that confused Flames cause she was sure that they would take them forever to order. "Those colts are asking for you Flames" the waitress pointed out the door where the colts were sitting. Flames sighed and obeyed the waitresses order. "Hey good looking haven't seen you in while." The leader of the colts was flirting with her again which was pretty annoying to her. "I never got your name, mines Whip Lash." Then he winked at her but Flames just rolled her eyes. "Its Flames." They all smiled and Whip Lash said. "That makes sense to me cause your smoking hot." He winked again which was irritating. Flames sighed and started to walk away like she always did then Whip Lash said. "I'm gonna be her second cutie mark watch." Flames stopped and turned around. "Excuse me?" "I'm gonna take that sweet virginity of yours." He was now looking Flames up and down again but stopped and stared at her hind legs. Flames mouth was open wide. "What the hell is wrong with you?" She walked back to the table and and looked at Whip Lash. He smiled lustfully at her. "Wanna sit on my lap don't mind if its a bit pokey though." He still smiled but Flames was really mad and didn't respond to the question. They were all snickering again and Flames turned around to leave on more but that when he made a fatal mistake. Whip Lash reached over and slapped her plot hard and was grinning. Flames blushed profusely that's when her brain told her enough and before she knew it, her hoof was directly implanted in Whip Lash's face. She heard a crack then he was on the floor with a bloody face. "Oh my god Flames what have you done?! Somepony call the paramedics quick he's bleeding out!" Everypony was now focused on Flames and the bloodied figure in front of her. Flames looked at her hoof, it was covered in blood just like Whip Lash's face. Everypony was wide eyed at the scene before them then the paramedics had arrived to take Whip Lash to the hospital for surgery. They were all outside now watching as the pony was being taken to the hospital. Flames was still looking at her hoof when Mr. Forthtrot came over to her. "Flames I'm sorry but I can't have a violent pony as a employee so your fired. He gave Flames her last check and she gave him her apron. "I'm sorry Mr. Forthtrot..." Her ears were down and she walked home hoping that she wouldn't get kicked out. When she got there she was yelled at for about thirty minutes about how much trouble she was in and that she was grounded for two months. Flames yelled back at her aunt "You're not my mother don't tell me what to do!" Then she cried herself to sleep. In the morning she packed all her stuff, wrote a letter to her aunt and left for her house in the forest alone. In her note she lied and said that she was running away back to her original home in Canterlot so she wouldn't go looking for her.
Chapter 5View OnlineThought Fire and FlamesChapter 5Flames secretly bought some furniture in disguise so no pony would notice who she was. Flames lived in the forest by herself but she could easily entertain herself by going down to the lake or reading and exploring in the nearby caves. After about a year or so she was finally bored and she decided that she was gonna go to Canterlot and find her big brother Blaze. She knew he had already graduated from Celestias school cause he was so talented so it might be more difficult to locate where he would be so she would have to fly overhead to find him. The flight to her destination was short but the finding was a bit harder. After some observing around she saw Blaze sitting at a picnic table with other stallions. Blaze had grown up a lot and his mane was a bit different, it was spiked up and dyed in some parts. He was wearing a pair of gray headphones around his neck with a skull in the center. His cutie mark was a shiny black controller almost like all the other stallions cutie marks but in a different variation. Flames guessed that they were all gaming nerds and geeks by their cutie marks and she could overhear one of them talking about something called Mortal Combat which was probably a video game. Flames hid behind a bush and thought of what she would say to Blaze. Flames was mumbling to herself a bit too loud and got the mass of gaming nerds attention. They mumbled amongst themselves also and decided to send Blaze over to see what was making that noise behind the bush. Blaze carefully walked over to the bush and peeked behind it. He saw a white mare with a red and black mane with red eyes. He instantly realized who it was. "Flames is that you?" Flames quickly looked up at the mention of her name. "Uh hi big brother." Blaze knelt down and helped Flames stand up. She hugged him tightly and said. "I've missed you Blaze." He smiled and hugged her back. "Same here little sis." After the short reunion blaze introduced Flames to his friends and they all talked about what happened to them since the separation. Further into the discussion Blaze brought up a story about how he read about this stallion who got permanent brain damage caused by this waitress who punched him in the face about a year ago. Flames eyes widened. "He got permanent brain damage?" Blaze looked a bit confused but said. "Yea I heard that the mare who did it was drunk when she punched him." Another one of the stallions said. "I heard that she was on drugs that night." All the other stallions had contributed to the reason why that mare punched him until Flames got angry and slammed her hoof into the table. "Those are all lies the reason I punched him was because he slapped my flank!" They all stared at Flames with wide eyes while she was breathing heavily. "You punched him?" Flames took a deep breath then answered. "Yes it was me who punched that stupid stallion." It was very silent for a moment or two until they all burst into cheer. "That was awesome!" "How did you do that?" "Could you teach me how to punch like that?" "Wow I've never seen somepony punch that hard before." Flames was still mad and didn't say anything to them. "I'm going home Blaze' talk to you later." But before he could reply she was already flying away fast back to the lake by her home in the forest. Flames sat down and looked up at the sky as the moon was slowly rising in the cool breezy sunset. She sighed then looked at her reflection in the water. "Why would they cheer I hurt that stallion and they think that's cool?" Flames slammed her hoof into the water where her reflection was. It rippled away from her hoof slowly then returned to its normal state. "You're not cool your a monster!" She screamed at her reflection getting angry again. "You even killed your parents why are you still alive!?" At this point she started to have flashbacks of the night her parents died. "I...I never got to say goodbye." Tears started to form in her eyes but that made her even angrier. Her eyes started to turn into a deep red giving off a weird smoke as her body started to tremble. "Its all my fault." A flicker of sparks appeared like if a match was just lit. Flames body, her mane and tail started to burn with fire. Her body was then engulfed into a inferno. Flames opened her eyes and gasped as she saw her reflection. "I...is that me?" She stood there jaw ajar for a minute or so until she carefully placed her hoof in the water then pulled it out. Her hoof reignited itself. "Wow." Flames was amazed that her body was capable of doing such a thing . Flames then remembered what her mother had said about her heritage. Flames looked up at the sky again and the moon was fully out as the stars twinkled in the background as they illuminated the lake reflecting it. Flames ear twitched slightly as the breeze gently caught her mane and slowly tugged on it. She heard a soft female voice whisper in her ear. "Reach for the stars Flames, fulfill your destiny." She looked at her reflection again, still fire. Flames crouched into a kneeling position and spread her wings wide gently flapping them. She counted her heartbeats slowly and on the tenth beat she flew into the sky. The feeling was unimaginable it was like flying through water but never being touched by it. Flames felt the breeze glide past her feathers as she soared higher into the untrespassed sanctity of space tumbling through the sun split clouds. Adrenaline coursed through her veins which made her fly even higher climbing the stellar skies hearing the silence of delirious night. Flames was now chasing the wind as she felt like she could fly forever. She finally got to the highest point in the sky and she could no longer go any higher she was flying on the edge until she let go and finally obeyed gravity. Flames was plunging through the sky swirling down the dark abyss making her way slowly back to earth. Her wings were folded to her side letting her free fall faster and as she reached the ground she spread her wings catching the wind in her feathers. She flew straight now leaving a trail of ashes and sparks in the sky and setting the grass below her on fire until she landed in the lake finally putting her body out. Flames slowly rose to the surface and opened her eyes. In the sky there was a new star into the sky, it was the brightest one in the night as it twinkled and glimmered. Flames noticed that two other stars next to the new one were fading away. A tear made its was onto Flames face and slid down as she watched the stars fade. "Goodbye mother, father thank you for everything." Flames smiled a bit and climbed out of the lake and dried her self off. She noticed that she had finally earned her cutie mark, it was a pair of orange wings wrapped around a fire. Flames was overwhelmed after all these years she had finally earned her cutie mark after so much trying. She went back home and got ready for bed but before she laid down Flames walked over to her window and opened it sticking her head out slowly. In the sky she looked at the stars again looking for her parents but they had disappeared "Even if you guys are gone I'll always remember you no matter what..."
Chapter 6View OnlineThought Fire and FlamesChapter 6The next day Flames woke up to the sound of splashing outside which confused Flames causes nopony except her lived in the forest. She got up and looked out the window, it was hard to tell but Flames was sure that there was a bear fishing in the lake but it was just splashing not even trying to catch a fish. Flames went outside to see what the bear was doing. Flames could hear more than splashing here was a roaring coming from the bear. It was roaring of pain, the bear must have been in trouble. She quickly ran over to the lake where the bear was. Flames now understood why the bear was in pain, the bears ankle was all twisted in some sticks with thorns which must have been the cause of the pain. Flames didn't know what to do, she didn't want to get mauled to death yet she couldn't leave him there in pain. She sighed and did what any sensible pony would do. She slowly went into the water trying not to scare or make the bear more angry. Flames got about halfway to the bear when he noticed her and started to slash his paws everywhere. That made Flames a bit scared but she continued to move towards him. "There there big fella I'm not gonna hurt you, I'm trying to help you." Almost as if he understood what she had just said the bear stopped slashing and stood still looking at her. Flames was at the point where sh could touch him and she went underwater to examine the branches keeping him in place. They were all tangled together around his ankle but Flames gently started to remove them. It was hurting him and he roared in pain again. Flames softly petted his leg which made him calm down and stop as she finished untangling his ankle. Flames stopped and stood up. "There all better.'" She smiled at him and he picked her up and hugged her and roared happily. Flames giggled and said. "You're welcome." The bear licked her face which made her giggle more. "Alright you can put me down now big fella." He obeyed and put her back into the water. He roared again but Flames just stood there looking at him confused. He roared again but she was still confused. "Are you trying to tell me your name?" He nodded his head and roared again. "Does it start with a C?" He nodded again. "Hmm would you like to spell it out in the sand for me?" He climbed out of the water and sat down by the softer sand and started tracing his claw in it. It started with a C then an A followed by a L then Y-P-S-O. Flames examined the letters carefully making sure they were in the correct order. "Calypso, that's your name?" He quickly nodded his head and roared happily. Flames smiled "Nice name." After a few weeks Flames got used to Calypso and started to understand what he said easily. Flames decided one day that she would go and visit him for a bit but when she got there he was sleeping so she went to relax by the tree five minutes away from her house. Flames sat down under the tree and relaxed enjoying the day until she heard some branches rustling.
introductionView OnlineThought Fire and FlamesintroductionFlames was a white Pegasus with a vibrant red mane. She was born in a hospital in Canterlot where she lived with her family. Her parents worked at a fancy restaurant called "Promontoire" or Point for the common ponies who aren't fancy. Flames didn't have her cutie mark yet and she didn't know how to fly either. Her parents were both different species, her mom was a Pegasus just like her and her father was a unicorn like her older brother Blaze. He was about five years older than her and he was very talented for his age. One day during the nighttime Flames had a bad dream. She went into her parents room because she was scared and needed comfort to calm her down. But when she got into their room they were fast asleep. It was a big day earlier so she wasn't surprised that they were sleeping. Flames lit a candle and placed it on their drawer so when they woke up they could see where they were going. Flames looked at the candle with the small fire which seemed to illuminate the whole room and thought to herself about the story her mother had told her about their heritage. Her mother said that on her side of the family they all had special abilities with the elements but she didn't go into detail much cause it was way too complicated for a young filly to understand. Flames had no idea what happened next because a flash altered her sight for a few seconds. When she opened her eyes all she could see was a very dark crimson color which impaired her vision slightly. Starting to panic Flames held out her hoof in front of her face. Fire.... She looked down at her body and it was surrounded by fire. Dumbfounded and not remembering her mother's history lesson she started to scream and panic because she didn't understand what was happening. Flames screams of terror had alarmed and awoken her slumbering family. She ran out of her parents room still terrified and screaming and running around the house spreading the fire around quickly
