Sky High

Shimmer Cloud dropped the phone and stood there in shock. She never thought that anything a could happen to Flawless Blow. Shimmer Cloud picked up Thunder Cloud and flew as quickly as she could to get to the hospital.

"Why? Of all days.. Why today?" Shimmer Cloud said to herself, while flying over to the hospital. She wipes the tears from her eyes as she walked into the hospital reception.

"Excuse me?" Shimmer Cloud said, walking up to the front desk.

"Yes?" A stallion at the desk said, looking up from a computer.

"I'm here to see Flawless Blow," She continued, looking down at the ground to hide her sadness. The stallion at the desk looked around the room and then pointed to a look corridor at the other end of the room.

"Straight ahead, first door and the end and then first of the right," He said, standing up to get a closer view of the directions that he was giving Shimmer Cloud.

"Thank you," Shimmer Cloud said, rushing down the corridor to find the right room which her husband was being held in.

Door by door Shimmer Cloud looked at, in hope of finding out which ward it was.

Shimmer Cloud stopped, she had found the right room. The mare bust open the door and ran in to see that her husband was lying in bed, with so many horrible machines attached to him.

Shimmer Cloud lay beside him crying. Thinking about what would happen between them. Just then, terrible thoughts went through Shimmer Clouds mind..

Shimmer Cloud gasped, waking up her husband from being on conscious. The mare held her husband's arm tight as she closed her eyes and cried.

"I'm sorry," Flawless Blow whispered in his wife's ear, as they both hugged each other tightly. But just then, the door opened and a doctor came in with a tray of equipment.

Shimmer Cloud looked at her husband that was about to be examined, as tears filled her eyes once more, a curtain was put between them. Like a barrier, a barrier that couldn't be broken.

The curtain was moved away from the couple as the doctor finished off his examinations on Flawless Blow. He looked at his clipboard and then took a glance and Shimmer Cloud, who was sitting in a chair opposite holding Thunder Cloud

"Ahem, Mrs Cloud? May you come with me?" The doctor asked, putting away all of his equipment. Shimmer Cloud nodded and wiped her tears away and began walking out the room with the doctor.

The two ponies walked it the room and into a room opposite of Flawless Blow's. Once the door was opened Shimmer Cloud looked around the room and saw many X-rays and other machines placed around the room.

"As you can see, these are your husband's wings," The doctor said, pointing the the X-Ray picture of a pair of wings. Shimmer

Cloud stood and nodded even though she didn't get it.

"The bones that maintain flight have broken. And those my dear, can't be fixed," The doctor continued as Shimmer Clouds eyes began filling up with tears.

"What's going to happen to him them?" Shimmer Cloud asked, wiping the tears from her eyes and looking lees miserable.

The doctor looked up from his clipboard and finished writing. He lead Shimmer Cloud back into another room with some pictures of wings. The doctor stated pointing at the pictures and explaining to Shimmer Cloud about what the consequences might be.

"You have to make a decision Shimmer Cloud. We leave him like that and he'll be safe. Or we do major surgery and he might not survive," The doctor explained, leading Shimmer Cloud back into Flawless Blow's room.

Shimmer Cloud could never live a life like this, she needed help. But there was no cure for her husband's accident. Paralysed Wings can fly, they can't do anything. Shimmer Cloud didn't really want to say this to Flawless Blow's face.. That to her..

He feels useless..

Five years later..

"Hey, mom!" Can I go out with my friends today?" Thunder Cloud asked, racing down the stairs and heading for the door. Shimmer Cloud looked up from her book and laughed.

"Okay then. But remember to come back soon okay?" Shimmer Cloud said, going back to reading her book. Thunder Cloud opened the door and flew out to go to his friends.

Flawless Blow came waking down the stairs and over to Shimmer Cloud. He sat down beside her and began looking at the book that she was reading.

"Do you like that book?" Flawless Blow asked his wife, while she was reading her book at the kitchen table. Shimmer Cloud looked up from her book again and gave Flawless Blow a light kiss on the cheek.

The two laughed as they as at the table together and nuzzled each other for a while. Shimmer Cloud closed over her book and walked over to the couch with Flawless Blow.

"Hey Thunder! Still can't fly?" A colt said as Thunder Cloud was flying past the basketball court. Thunder Cloud ignored him and tried to fly on.

Thunder Cloud was a weak flyer. With no help from his dad and only help when is mom had spare time, Thunder Cloud didn't really know how to fly yet.

Thunder Cloud arrived at his friend's house and knocked on the door.

KNOCK KNOCK

The door opened and Thunder Cloud walked in.

"Hey Rainbow Dash, is Scootaloo home?" Thunder Cloud asked, walking up to Scootaloo's room.

"Yea, she is. Go right up and see her," Rainbow Dash said, closing the door and walking into a separate room. Thunder Cloud ran up the stairs and went into Scootaloo's bedroom.

"Hey Thunder Cloud," Scootaloo said, getting up from her bed and walking over. Thunder Cloud waved at his friend and they both sat down.

"So um, what happened with your dad?" Scootaloo asked, picking up a Rainbow Dash toy and putting in in her shelf. Thunder Cloud looked around the room and though for a moment.

"I.. I don't wanna talk about it. If that's okay," Thunder Cloud replied, trying not the think about what has happened to his dad. Scootaloo sat down beside Thunder Cloud and hugged him.

"It's okay, your lucky that you have parents," Scootaloo said, looking at a picture of Scootaloo's parents when she was just a baby. Thunder Cloud looked up from the ground.

"What happened to them?" Thunder Cloud asked, looking at a poster of a Rainbow a Dash on Scootaloo's wall. Scootaloo didn't answer. So Thunder Cloud didn't want to ask about it.

"So um, wanna go to Applebloom's house?" Scootaloo asked, helping Thunder Cloud up from the ground. He nodded and the two fillies walked put the room together.
