The Equestrian assault on nazi Germany
“Enemy fighters incoming from the right!”….”MAYDAY, MAYDAY THIS IS HBF-2, WE’RE HIT!”….”we’re over the target area now, bombs away”…..”This is HBF-24 flak has blown through our portside, its touch and go from here”. Hearing the different radio communications from the nearby bombers, Flt Lt John Smith pushed up on the throttle of his beautifully crafted spitfire mkIX, the rolls Royce merlin purred in response to his action and rotated the propeller at a higher speed, pulling the aircraft forwards to a speed of over 350mph. “right chaps, it appears that some of our lot have run into a spot of bother from enemy fighters, FW-190’s to be specific, and they are calling for assistance from nearby aircraft, and that would be us so prepare yourselves for some aerial combat and keep em’ peeled”
As the formation of 21 spitfires ranging from the mkv to the mkix emerged from the clouds, what remained of the Lancaster bomber formation came into view, there were long black trails criss-crossing in the skies from the aircraft that were unfortunate enough to be hit, some of them plummeted towards the earth and there were a few that could be traced to the barely serviceable aircraft producing the smoke.
Looking around at the scene of devastation, John noticed the German fighters disengaging and returning home below them, seizing the moment to surprise the enemy, john barked down his headphones “Enemy fighters below us, they’re disengaging, let’s make them pay for what they’ve done”, all the aircraft dove downwards simultaneously, it was like a choreographed dance routine as they broke formation and swooped in behind their individual targets, the Germans were caught off guard and within seconds multiple aircraft made their final decent to the ground, trailing the same pitch black smoke that often showed the end of an aircraft’s life. Responding as quickly as they could the Germans broke their formation and began retaliating to the sudden attack; however their futile attempt at escape was crushed by the might of the RAF as 2 more Germans plummeted towards the ground, one of them spinning about uncontrollably due to the loss of one wing, one spitfire was unfortunate enough to collide with a fw-190 that was mid loop-the-looping, the near instant explosion rang inside Johns ears. As the last handful of Germans were sent down to a permanent landing the squadron of 19 spitfires formed back up into the common v-shaped formation, one of the pilots broke the radio silence, “It looks like I took a few rounds there chaps, I’m leaking fuel, I’m going to have to bring her down at the first opportunity”, “roger that white 4, take care of yourself and aim towards the farmhouses, that’s where the good guys are”, “roger green 1, see you soon sir”, the single spitfire spun sideways and began descending towards the ground.
Just as the formation of bombers and fighters were leaving occupied Germany they ran into a large formation of 200+ German fighters, a tremendous mix of FW-190’s accompanied by the more traditional ME-109’s, there was also a group of ME-110 dual engine fighters, also there was what appeared to be a group of 5 ME-262 jet fighters leading the formation.
Breaking his normally steady chirpy voice, Flt Lt John smith muttered down his radio “well, shit.”
Hoping that the enemy hadn’t noticed them yet the formation of bombers and fighters instinctively dropped below the cloud coverage to try and avoid detection, an awkward pause followed as they all braced in anticipation of the huge wave of fighters to swoop down and attack them, but nothing happened, the moment was almost unbearable, there they were flying along below a large cloud that was concealing them from annihilation. Then as to break the peace of the moment a German aircraft fell down through the cloud in front of them, it was engulfed in flames and was missing a wing. Then a smaller object fell through the cloud, it was much smaller than the German aircraft that had previously passed by, it was blue in colour and appeared to be trailing a red mist, then another similar object appeared apart from this one was yellow and it wasn’t trailing the red mist, its swooped down and appeared to grab the blue object and carry it back through the cloud. “Did you lads just see that?” the question was rhetorical to say the least, everyone had notice the two objects descend and then disappear back into the clouds above them. “right then, who’s feeling lucky today?” john asked openly, there was no reply, “righty-o then, I’m going up there to see what’s happening for myself”, again there was no reply.
Smith pulled back on the control column and gently raised through the cloud cover until just his canopy and tail was popping through the top of the cloud, his eyes opened wide at the sight before him, the Germans were under attack from what appeared to be winged horses of some sort, and they were outnumbering the Germans by a vast amount, at least three to one, he pressed the PTT on his radio to contact the rest of his flight, “uhh, guys….” He couldn’t quite find the right words to say without sounding ridiculous, “there’s, uhh, what appears to be, flying horses attacking the enemy”, “HA, nice try john, I’m not coming up there”, “very well then, why don’t you come up here and see for yourself?”, shakily, the other pilot climbed up into the cloud cover until he was level with John, “Guys, he wasn’t kidding….”
Above them was a dogfight of massive proportions, the horses were using outdated weapons such as swords and crossbows that were completely useless against the German aircraft, but it looked like they had resorted to a more unorthodox method of using their hooves to smash the rear elevators on the planes, causing them to lose control and spiral towards the ground. “well, let’s go and give them a hand” the other pilot said, “whoa there kid, I don’t think they will recognise that we are friendly”, “maybe if we attack an enemy plane they will notice we are friendly”, “it’s too risky, I don’t want them to turn on us and wipe us out of the sky, just maintain current heading and give these bombers some cover”, both the spitfires then dropped back down through the clouds to the rest of their formation.
The Equestrian assault on nazi Germany
It was deep into the middle of Luna's beautiful night and all the residents of Manehatton were all sleeping soundly in their houses, that is, all except for two Pegasus ponies who were outside flying through the cool night air. Their reason for being awake? It was simple; they enjoyed the peacefulness that the night brought to their vast city which during the day would be a large source of noise pollution.
The two pegasi stopped on a soft white cloud floating high above the city and took in the breath-taking scenery, during the day manehatton was an engineering marvel to look at but during the night, the large skyscrapers would merge together into one large black silhouette against the night sky on the horizon, a sight that not many of the residents had seen in their lifetime.
The two ponies were interrupted by a soft humming sound coming from far away, putting it to the back of their minds they decided to return to looking at the sights from their high vantage point, however the humming began to get louder and it slowly turned into a slight drone. Now the sound had really got their attention and the curiosity within them took hold, they began scanning the ground for the source of the sound and even as the drone got louder they still couldn’t see the source of the noise that was invading the peace of the princess’ night
Unable to see anything on the ground they turned their attention to the skies around them, still nothing, the sound getting ever louder all the while, until just a few seconds later their vigilance paid off and the smaller Pegasus noticed a formation of what was probably birds, but that still didn’t explain the noise, which was now a roaring sound.
That was it, curiosity had taken a firm grip on the larger Pegasus and she took to the skies and flew towards the source of the sound, the smaller pony stayed put on the cloud, a sense of fear sinking into his mind, scaring off his curiosity and leaving him frozen in place.
The smaller Pegasus flew on alone, determined to find out what was making such a loud noise at this time of night, however, as she got closer to the flock of birds, she noticed that they weren’t birds at all, in fact they looked nothing like anything she had seen before in her life, each of what she presumed to be other creatures had a long tubular like body which flared out into three ends at the rear, its arms were stretched out of the middle of its body and had two tube shapes about a third of the way along each arm, as she got closer she realised that these weren’t animals of any sort and were in fact objects made from metal, with glass windows at the front of them.
The flying contraptions were now no further than 400 meters from her, she could see life forms of some sort residing inside the machines, she began to slow herself down to a glide to try and communicate with the creatures within, but before she could get a word out of her mouth she was interrupted by the sound of multiple small explosions coming from the front of the machine. She never knew what hit her, before she could react her lifeless form dropped out of the sky, red trails of blood leaking out of multiple small holes all over her body.
The second Pegasus watched on as his friend was cut down before his own eyes; he sunk into the cloud, trying his hardest to hide from the approaching machines. The aircraft flew effortlessly passed him and after the last one passed he popped his head back out of the cloud to look through his tear filled eyes across at contraptions that had killed his friend, they began to drop small objects out of the bottom of them, each object making a load whistling sound
By now half of the city had been awakened by the roar of engines, residents had stepped out of their houses to look up at the strange objects above their homes. The first of the object dropped by the aircraft hit the ground, causing a large explosion and destroying half of the building next to it, then another crashed through the roof on one home, detonating inside and levelling the building almost instantly, milliseconds later more of the objects started pelting the ground, destroying everything they touched. The male Pegasus could only watch on in fear as the city below him was lit up by multiple explosions, each making an earshatteringly loud bang, his senses were overloaded, his vision began to blur and his head started spinning, he collapsed onto the cloud on which he was stood, making no noise as he did so.
