An unaging alien race known as the 'Guardians' is now almost all but extinct. Destroyed by an ancient Darkness and its minions. But there is still hope for the remnants. A weapon, made to combat the Darkness. Now, they just need to find the pieces.

Being unaging had its drawbacks. Guardians are unable to reproduce. Therefore the millions of them that there were, are all that there would ever be. and if a catastrophe ever happened. Those that they lost would weigh heavily on their minds. For they knew that they were one step closer to extinction. Then, the Darkness came. It promised them it would give them the secret that would let them reproduce. All it did was destroy them, its promises laying useless at their feet. Its minions, who had been integrated into their society killed them with no mercy. Only five of them escaped, they are the last five of the once proud race. The Guardians, in secret were engineering a weapon so powerful that it could have combated the Darkness. It was not ready. The planet where they lived. Zargonia. Was barren of all but the most essential resources, so they relied on our allies for the more valuable ores and minerals. They almost have all the pieces, now there are only six more gems they need. They reside on the planet Equis. But the Darkness has followed them. And even more than just a battle is knocking on Equestria's door.

So, basically. The Five need six more gems to complete their superweapon. These six gems just so happen to be the Elements of Harmony. Not only that, but the Darkness has followed them there and is more powerful than it ever has been. So, for the Guardians. Its either live up to their name. Or flee.
