Chapters *Fluttershy's P.O.V.*
Dear Diary,
It has been two months since the death of Scootaloo. I can't stop thinking of her, everything reminds me of her. Today, I'll go to Twilight's and ask her for a special spell. She'll agree right? Twilight would do anything for me, she's my best friend.
~Fluttershy
~~~
"Fluttershy, I know you love Scootaloo, but this is a bit much", Twilight said, reading the page in her book. "You want me to revive Scootaloo?!"
I sighed and nodded. It was hard enough waking up and not seeing her. But, when it's everyday for 60 days, you go crazy. I know I don't talk much about her, that's because I'm thinking about her everyday. She never deserved what happened. It was too sudden, she was with me for only two years. I found out Twilight had told Rainbow Dash about Scootaloo, and she told Rarity, then Rarity told Apple Jack, and so on my group of friends knew about Scootaloo.
After Scootaloo died my friends and sometimes more asked me questions about her. Where did she sleep, what did you do to keep her secret a secret, and stuff that I didn't want to share in the first place. But, I answered them anyway, just so they wouldn't bug me. I've been getting aggravated easily lately.
"I will have to think about this", Twilight said, shutting the book.
"Please?" I asked.
"Fluttershy, you know I feel sympathy for you, but you have to know when it's time to stop", Twilight said. "Scootaloo was just a filly that happened to show up at your door. You didn't give birth to her, she just appeared."
"Somepony wanted me to care for her", I protected myself. "And that was me."
"I understand that", Twilight said. "But what if Scootaloo was killed for a reason? What if somepony wanted her back, perhaps her parents?"
I got frustrated, and left. Is Twilight saying that Scootaloo isn't important? Of course she is! If I didn't care for Scootaloo, then who would've? No pony. I was most likely the only pony who would've taken care of Scootaloo.
*Twilight's P.O.V.*
Fluttershy obviously got upset with me, so she left. I decided to do some research on this spell she wanted me to cast. I never practiced on reviving, considering it would never come in handy. You don't expect in your training to revive a filly you only met three times. I flipped the page that I had bookmarked, and began reading.
When one puts others in front of them, this spell may or may not come in handy.
Without a doubt, there is no hope. Bring back this life of 'Centra', so I can cope!
The spell has been used by Princess Luna to revive her subjects only during the blackness of night, so Princess Celestia would not know.
I continued reading until the end of the page.
DO NOT CAST ON ONES WHO HAVE RECENTS DIED. YOU MUST WAIT UNTIL 300 MOONS TO CAST THE SPELL.
300 moons, that was six months! I groaned. I flipped through the pages, nothing else. This will be a long six months.
I grabbed some bits and I headed over to Sugar Cube Corner. I needed a cupcake right about now. I walked in, and ordered the cupcake of the day - Vanilla Cream. I grabbed a napkin after paying and sat on a stool next to a counter. Then, walking in slowly, was a colt. He had a cape covering his lower body, but his whole head showed. He had a dark blue mane with goggles pushing his mane back. It was Soarin from the Wonderbolts.
He ordered a Cupcake Pie, which I had no idea they had. He ordered it to go, tapping his hoof on the ground not so quietly. When Mrs. Cake gave him his pie, he threw his bits on the counter and didn't wait for the change. He flew out of the Shop, and took off into the sky.
Strange.
I finished eating, and headed back home. I had a full stomach. I never remember that the cupcakes at Sugar Cube Corner fill my stomach easily. I was stopped. By Soarin.
"Your highness", he said, gripping his pie while bowing.
"Greetings Soarin", I said.
"I have a question", Soarin whispered, looking around.
"Yes, what is it?" I asked impatiently.
"Do you know who killed the little filly Scootaloo?" he asked.
"No, were still searching", I said, looking at him suspiciously. He jumped from two hooves to another, like he had to go to the bathroom.
"I think I know who did it", Soarin whispered, looking to make sure no pony hears. "Spitfire."
"Why her?" I asked, kind of surprised.
"She's been coming to training really quiet, and one time she had blood on her hooves."
I nodded. "Maybe you should head back now, your pie will get cold."
He nodded, and took off to I don't know where.
How could Spitfire kill Scootaloo? She was too busy to be a Wonderbolt, she wouldn't stay in Ponyville to kill a filly for no reason. But maybe I should look into it. Spitfire did have some free time on her hooves, considering she was the Captain of the Wonderbolts. Time for an investigation, if I could ever fly all the way to the Academy in Rainbow Falls. My wings hurt already from practicing with Rainbow Dash.
If Spitfire did kill Scootaloo, why? Scootaloo never did anything, or went anywhere. Was it maybe Spitfire was Scootaloo's mother? Was it even possible? I'm pretty sure Soarin had too much Apple Cider. But, I had to investigate just in case he was right.
Chapter 3: Wings
*Soarin's POV*
I'm in deep
deep
deep
did I mention deep?
Trouble.
When Spitfire says something, she means it. It's not like you say it and forget in two minutes, Spitfire remembers. It's a good thing when she does routines and all that stuff, but not when your in a crisis whether ponies hate you or they really hate you.
I already had told Twilight about Spitfire! Spitfire knows also who did it. But, she doesn't know I told Twilight. And she won't. If the press found out, she would blame me and they would believe her. Spitfire is the Captain of the Wonderbolts, she wouldn't lie to anypony, except this time.
It's my fault I told Twilight the secret. But, it wasn't my fault that I killed the child of my sister. It never will be.
It's my fault that I didn't keep the secret that I had promised over my spot on the Wonderbolts.
*Fluttershy's P.O.V.*
"Twilight?" I asked, peeking my head through the door of the Library. It's been ten days since Scootaloo was buried. Ten days too much. I can't handle it anymore.
Twilight gestured me to come in as she read a book about Dragons, finally one book about them.
"Did you think about it?" I asked. Hopefully she'll say yes.
"The spell will only work when Scootaloo is six months in the ground. We can't just revive her", Twilight said, not taking her eyes off the words of her book.
"So we have to wait 290 moons!?" I almost yelled. The book never said that!
"Fluttershy, I didn't make up the spell-" Twilight began.
"So help me Celestia, Twilight you will do that spell", I raged, throwing a book on the ground. But I began crying.
"Do you know how hard it is? To find a foal at your doorstep, raise the child so quickly, then suddenly their gone like that? Do you?"
Twilight just stared. She didn't know how I felt.
"Exactly."
I whipped away the tears, and sat down.
"Fluttershy I know it hurts-"
"You don't know it hurts because you never had a child." I interrupted. "You think you know everything, but there's some things that Princess's don't know."
There was a knock on the doors. One of the Guards opened it, and the pony who entered was no ordinary pony. It was Princess Luna.
I saw the Princess and I bowed. "Your highness", I said.
"Hey Luna", Twilight greeted.
"Why was thow asked to come on a short timing?" Luke asked a bit loud.
"I called you hear to ask you about this spell", Twilight said, giving Luna the book via. magic.
"One of thow's early spells", Luna said. "Why does thow Princess Twilight need this spell at short-ith timing?"
"I can't say", Twilight said sympathetic. "But I need it as soon as possible."
"Alright", Princess Luna said. She began casting the spell, then gestured to Twilight for her to tell the name of the dead.
"Scootaloo", Twilight said.
Princess Luna finished the spell. There was a magic glow that quickly spread through Ponyville from Princess Luna. A signal most likely, I don't know magic.
"Magic shall work within 20 moons", Princess Luna said. "If I see that thow Scootaloo has returned, I shall give thow a special dream."
She teleported away to Canterlot, or some place. I smiled at Twilight.
"Thank you", I said.
Twilight nodded. She began reading her book in peace. I grabbed a book about Bunnies, and sat down and began reading.
*3rd Person P.O.V.*
Somepony, hidden within the shadows of the castle, watched the whole scene of the spell.
"Fluttershy, I think I know who killed Scootaloo", Twilight said.
"Who!?" Fluttershy asked.
But the pony in the shadows was not happy of the news. Not happy, furious. Whom-ever told Twilight about Spitfire, would have to pay more than bits.
More like death.
But, there was no time to find out. It was time to end that fool-of-a-mother, Fluttershy.
And the pony who would do this, happened to be on the Wonderbolts. And if they didn't, they would have to loose their place on the team.
Maybe Soarin had told Twilight. Nah, that colt is afraid of falling from five feet in the air. It probably was Fleet Foot. Most likely it was.
Who to choose, who to choose.
Intense, right!? :3
Chapter 4: Lies (The Secret)
Lies break friends.
Friends are there for you.
You only control what you do.
Doing what's right is the opposite of lying.
Lying is the worst thing that you could ever do.
One pony in particular, did the worst thing you could ever do. Lie.
"Soarin killed Scootaloo!" Spitfire lied to The Foal Free Press.
"Why would he do such a thing?" One of the reporters asked.
"Maybe because he never liked us", Spitfire sighed.
"Is it true that Soarin is part of the Wonderbolts?" A reporter asked.
"Yes it is very true", Spitfire said.
"So, are you positive that Soarin killed Scootaloo?" Another reporter asked.
"I'm positive Soarin killed poor little Scootaloo", Spitfire said.
"That is not true!" Soarin yelled. He flew and landed next to Spitfire. "I went to the Laboratory and I got results of the DNA on Scootaloo's body. The DNA is not a Pegasi. Nor is it an Earth Pony."
He shoved a piece of paper in Spitfire's face.
"So it was a unicorn...", Spitfire muttered.
The reporters started yelling questions. Soarin flew away, leaving the piece of DNA paper on the ground below. Spitfire gripped the paper, then zoooooooomed after Soarin.
"Where did you find this!?" Spitfire yelled trying to chase after him.
"The Lab", Soarin yelled.
He whipped his tail in Spitfire's face, and she unfocused. She flipped in the air, and fell. Spitfire landed in the lake at the edge of Ponyville, and she groaned.
"That little-"
"Hi Spitfire!" Pinkie Pie said, swimming with her floaters.
"Pinkie Pie?" Spitfire asked.
"Isn't the water great? It's wet and everything!" Pinkie Pie said, splashing her hooves.
"What fun", Spitfire said, getting out. The Sun dried her almost instantly, and she flew back to her home, Cloudsdale.
~~
"So it wasn't Spitfire?" Fluttershy asked.
"No, these DNA scans are true", Twilight said, studying a copy from the Laboratory. "It was a pony with a horn."
"But now we won't know-"
"There aren't many Unicorns in Ponyville, Fluttershy", Twilight said. "There's Rarity, Lyra, and a few others."
Fluttershy sniffed. "What if we never find out who killed Scootaloo?"
"We will find out Fluttershy, you just have to believe in yourself."
"How can I believe in myself when my daughter has been dead for two months?" Fluttershy snapped. She was loosing it.
"Uhm, Fluttershy", Twilight awkwardly said, rubbing the back of her head. "I know who killed Scootaloo, and I know for a fact."
"How do you exactly know this pony did it?" Fluttershy said, her angry side showing.
"Because, I was there when it happened", Twilight said. "I know who did it."
"You watched my daughter die!?" Fluttershy yelled.
"No it isn't like that", Twilight said.
"Are you the pony who murdered my child!?"
"Fluttershy listen-"
"The only pony I could tell!", Fluttershy yelled. "And, m-my best friend killed my child. You know what, g-goodbye. I'm telling everypony."
Fluttershy cried hysterically She ran out of the castle, leaving her tears behind. But now she had a reason to be upset.
Twilight sat down. "I messed up", she thought out loud.
Lies break friends.
Friends are there for you.
You only control what you do.
Doing what's right is the opposite of lying.
Lying is the worst thing that you could ever do.
Twilight killed Scootaloo.
The very best friend of Fluttershy. Fluttershy trusted Twilight, and she used it as an advantage to get back for some reason. What reason?
*Fluttershy's P.O.V.*
Mr. Cluck chirped in pain. I know he's a chicken, but he understands me. He missed Scootaloo, like I did.
I told him about Scootaloo finally, and not she was on vacation. I can tell he's aggravated about Twilight killing Scootaloo. I know she was trying to convince me it wasn't her, like she usually does on things. But I ignored her. The DNA said it was a Unicorn. Twilight was originally a Unicorn. So it had to be her.
Angel hasn't talked to me. The only thing he says in his Bunny language is "Scootaloo". I know those two were close. They were like siblings. But now Angel just lays down on his favorite spot on the couch and sleeps. I woke him up for lunch once, but he only took a cucumber slice and ignored the rest. I'm worried about him, but then again I'm worried about myself.
I haven't eaten in what, 5 days? I didn't want to eat. Scootaloo was on my mind every minute of everyday. And you know who killed her? Twilight. I told her everything about Scootaloo. But one thing. I didn't know who Scootaloo's mom was. That one thing bugged me everyday. I never found out who the mare was that gave birth to sweet Scootaloo.
Mr. Cluck went into the Henhouse, and you could hear him clucking in there.
"Candy time!" Scootaloo smiled.
All these memories came to my head. I got emotional from it. But, I know that somehow I will get over this. I know I will. I just have to forget about it.
Candy...
Nightmare Night. Scootaloo was a Vampire.
Chickens...
School. Scootaloo got teased.
Your an idiot.
Scootaloo not working on her homework.
I failed at this game. I have to work more. But then, there was a knock on my door. I looked up. Not waiting for an answer from me, Twilight walked in.
There was a dead silence for a good ten seconds before I stood up. Was Twilight here to talk me into her not doing it!?
"Leave", I yelled, then running to my room. I slammed the door. I fell face first onto my bed, and I cried.
"Fluttershy please", Twilight said through the door, slightly crying. "Let me speak."
"You used me to get to my child, why should I ever?", I cried.
"Fluttershy let me explain. You never let me speak.", Twilight cried. "Please."
"Fine", I said.
"Ever since you had Scootaloo, you never focused on our friendship. It was always Scootaloo, Scootaloo, Scootaloo. You never left your house except for Scootaloo. You could've told us when she came to your door so we could've helped you raise her properly. I thought if Scootaloo left, you would come back to yourself. But clearly I was wrong."
"So you killed my child for your own way to get me outside!?" I yelled. "How could you?" I got up, and opened the door. And in front of me was a crying Twilight.
"I'm sorry Fluttershy", she cried more. "I know you won't forgive me, but at least talk to the other girls. They're worried about you."
And with that, she slowly walked out of my house. But before she closed the door, she left something. She closed the door, and flew away. I ran over and looked at the object and I cried. It was one of Scootaloo's flight feathers. It was a light orange still, and the feathers were pointed. I picked it up, and placed it on the wooden table.
"My only piece of you", I said out loud.
Angel hopped over and climbed on top of the table. He took the feather, and studied it closely. Yes, indeed it was one of Scootaloo's flight feathers. He hugged it, then placed it back on the table. He jumped off the table, and went back to the couch to sleep. I sighed, and went to my room. I kept the door open. I climbed in bed, but I didn't go to sleep. I just laid on my right side and looked at the door to the walk-in closet. Her room.
I turned the other way to get it off my mind, and I went to sleep.
~~
I woke up, and my tears stained my face. I got out of my uncomfortable bed, and sat on a stool. I ate some grass as my breakfast, and I just began thinking. Thinking of what I would do, if Scootaloo came back. If this was just a little trick to get me and I realize that this was just a little aha joke. I wish it really was.
I cried on the inside. I had to get over all of this. I know I raised Scootaloo, but I had to get over a child that I didn't have. Somepony just chose me to raise her. But, that little filly changed my life. I risked everything for her, then she just left. It was my fault she didn't listen. Everything was my fault.
How she didn't listen.
How she died.
How she got made fun of.
All of it was my fault.
I put her into public school, so she was made fun of.
I didn't tell any of my friends of Scootaloo, so she died.
I didn't introduce her to the world, so she didn't listen.
All the ponies were right. I'm a bad parent. I was never able to raise a child. I had one in my hooves, and she slipped away. I know I will never, ever, ever be a parent ever again. I'll stick with animals, that is my talent.
I began crying outside. It was too hard. But, there was a knock on the door. I got up and opened the door. I looked down, and I stared wide-eyed.
"Mom?" Scootaloo asked, staring up.
I did everything you guys asked me and I really hope you guys love me for it! :)
*3rd Person P.O.V.*
Twilight began to study more into the spell. She began working more and more into it, studying how it works and much more. She struggled to understand how the magic had formed. The book explained this type of magic just appeared one day. There had to be some logical explanation to how this reviving magic formed. Twilight shut the book, and sat for a moment.
"Every spell has some sort of history to it. If this magic just appeared, then it isn't considered magic. What is it then?
Twilight continued reading, getting more and more into the history of the magic. At the end, it said something in tiny hoof-writing. Something your typical pony wouldn't notice.
Note: This type of spell is considered Dark Magic.
That explains it, perfectly. The spell was dark magic, and was used to revive others. But, besides Princess Luna, who had used this dark magic? The only way to find out, was to ask Princess Luna.
"Spike?" Twilight asked, looking around for her assistant.
"Coming!" Spike said, running around the corner. "Yes?"
"I need you to write a letter to Princess Luna", Twilight said.
Spike found his quill and a scroll, and had his claw ready to write.
"Dear Princess Luna, I ask you royally to schedule a meeting with me, Princess Twilight. It is an absolute emergency, and I must speak to you at once. Yours truly, Princess Twilight. Got it Spike?"
Spike finished writing. He looked up and nodded.
"Send it away", Twilight said.
Spike used his fire to send the note into fine air, sending off to Canterlot.
"Thank you Spike", Twilight said.
Now it was time to wait for an answer.
~~
"Soarin?!" Spitfire yelled, coming out of the Washroom.
"What?" Soarin said from the sky, focusing on his flying practice.
"I need you here stat!" Spitfire yelled.
Soarin sighed. He flew down and sat on the grass. "What?" he groaned.
"Did you tell Twilight about Scootaloo?" Spitfire snapped.
"No, I just asked her if they found out who did it..." Soarin cowardly said, hanging his head.
"If you tell anypony about this, then your off the team." Spitfire growled. She whipped around and went to get her uniform.
"What have I done?" Soarin asked aloud.
