The Love of Rainbows

Chapter 6

“So, what exactly do you do back on Earth?” Twilight asked.
We were gathered in a small circle, sitting on these little cushions. I passed up on sitting on them.. Seeing as I might be too big for them.

“I go to school. I was planning on going to University after I graduated high school. See, on Earth, schools are different. We go to school half our lives to get a good job. We don’t just get a cutie mark that proves our talent.” I explained to Twilight.

“Hrm..” Twilight was pondering on my words.

“Sounds boring. I hated school.” Rainbow Dash said.

“You wouldn’t get anywhere in the human world. There’s a lot of people who use it to their advantage. Where I come from, we call these people ‘skids’. Ones who choose to do drugs and alcohol and waste their time and taxpayers dollars.” I crossed my arms. This was my true opinion on the matter.

“Taxpayers?” Twilight and Rainbow Dash’s heads cocked lightly.

“Well, we pay our government taxes so that our country has money to support everyone. The country I live in has free health care. But that’s because we pay a big tax amount. It’s about equality. In some countries, they barely have those rights.” I had a grim expression cross my face when I said that.

“So, you’re a.. Democratic society? That’s interesting. It makes sense, though. I’m very intrigued by your race, Carl.” Twilight smiled and couldn’t help but pull down a camera from a shelf.

“Mind if I take a picture? I want to make sure I remember you. In case you do leave.” I nodded when she asked. The picture flashed and Rainbow Dash made a funny face when it did. I was just smiling.

“Thanks.” Twilight floated the camera back onto a shelf near her, and started back up again.

“Well, do you have any friends back on Earth?” Twilight gave a weird expression to this. Like she thought I was a loner!

“Of course I do. They’re really good friends, too. Like, my friend Scott, always makes me laugh. My best friends Alex and Dylan make me cheery and can hold an intellectual conversation.” I went on to explain some of the many friends I had.

“Wow. Your life must be cool!” Rainbow Dash said. ‘Cool’ is an overstatement. My life seemed boring until I came here. Here I fit in.. But I worry.. A lot about home.

“Yeah.. Sorta..” I made a little white lie, so that they wouldn’t know.

“Why, look at the time! We should go and get some rest. Hopefully the rain will clear by tomorrow.” Twilight stood up, along with me and Rainbow Dash, and we walked up the stairs to be greeted by Spike snoring.

“Shhh..” Twilight said as she crawled into her bed slowly. Me and Dash tip-toed past spike and I went on the right side of the bed, Dash on the left.

“Nighty night!” Twilight whispered. The many candle lights in the room went out with the wisp of her magical horn.

I rolled over and saw Rainbow Dash looking at me.

“Hey.. Uhm.. Mind if.. I .. Cuddle up to you..?” Rainbow Dash whispered.
Oh dear God, why?! Why is this happening? I mean, I’ve.. Always wanted this! But why, God? Damn you!

“Of course..” I lifted some of the covers so she could move closer. She did immediately and had her hooves wrapped around my upper chest and her temple resting on the side of the pillow.

Her body was warm, as I wrapped my arms around her, and lightly curvy. It had a bit of plush to it -- due to the fur and because she feels kind of like a marshmallow -- and a bit of hardness. As she is an athlete. Her tail lightly flicked and wrapped around my ankles. It was soothing and warm. It made the ankle pain I felted yesterday just wisp away (even though it was mostly gone by now.).

Rainbow Dash started to lightly snore. It wasn’t loud, so, I could easily sleep through it. It was actually kind of cute. I couldn’t help but lightly chuckle.. But as I did.. Three words left my mouth..

“I love you..” I said, very quietly. My face felt as though it flushed immediately red and I hope to the Lord of Heaven and Earth that she didn’t hear me at all.

Thankfully she just shuffled lightly and continued to sleep. I felt my eyelids getting heavy and I slowly started to fall into the miasma of this bed. The comfort of her body against mine made me feel at ease. The storm outside was no longer a bother. Everything was perfect and I fell asleep with not the slightest bit of trouble.

I awakened. Alone, it seemed. I looked around the room and saw Rainbow Dash and Twilight downstairs giggling. I checked if I was unclothed again. Thankfully, I wasn’t. I got up and went downstairs. They both greeted me.

“Good morning sleepy.” They both said. It was twelve in the afternoon, so, it made sense why they said that.

“Morning..” I rubbed my eyes. It smelled like apple pies in the room, oddly.

“Mmm.. What’s that smell?” I sniffed and asked.

“We’re making some apple pies. We know humans probably don’t eat hay or anything like that. So, we just assumed that you probably eat fruits and vegetables.” Twilight stood on four hooves as she presented me an apple. I took it, willingly. I forgot that I haven’t ate in two days now.

“Thanks.” I chomped into it. It tasted like heaven. The crunch was nice and juicy as the sugary cider, from the crushed apple spewed into my mouth. I delicately chomped some more. It was like I was having a foodgasm.

“Mmm.. It’s good to eat something that I haven’t ate in a while..” I said. It was a green apple too. My favourite.

“I assume that’s your way of ‘thanks’.” Twilight giggled. Rainbow Dash fluttered over to what looked like an oven and pulled out the apple pie.

“It’s.. Kind of burnt at the crust.. But, I’m not the greatest baker!” She flew over with it in her gloved hooves, laying it down on a tray.

“I don’t like the crust anyways. I just tear it off.” I said, looking down at it as I ate my apple. It looked delicious, but was too hot for the likes of my mouth.

“You’ll have to wait for it to cool. Until then, why not eat some healthy things before chomping into it?” Twilight said, floating a bowl of what seemed to be a garden salad without the dressing.

“I guess I could go for some greens.” I took the bowl and started to pick out the leafy greens inside. Seeing as I wasn’t given a fork, I guess it wouldn’t be un-netiquette for me to eat this way.

“At least humans are omnivores. Can’t eat meat in Equestria.” Rainbow Dash said, giggling lightly. That giggle was starting to sound.. Err.. Never the mind.

I just nodded, eating the greens. I hated the cherry tomatoes, though. Gross little things. Can’t handle them.

“So, what are we going to do today?” I asked through a few chews. As polite as I could.

“Well, I have to go help Zecora. I guess you two are on your own again.” Twilight said, floating her saddle-bag over onto her back.

“I’ll see you two tonight.” She opened the door and left.

“Uhm.. Okay..?” I looked at the door, finishing off my chews.

“Meh. I had an idea in mind. Have you ever pulled any pranks?” Rainbow Dash fluttered upwards, looking at me.

“Yeah, a few times. Why?” I asked, looking at her. Is this another episode of pulling pranks?

“Well, I kind of wanted to do some. And Pinkie Pie -- My friend -- is busy today. So, would you want to?” Dash’s eyes lit up. How could I say no?

“Yeah, sure.” I smiled as she flew in joy.

“YAY!” She zipped around the room a few times, then landed.

“Ohmigosh! We should prank my friend Rarity first! I know just the thing. C’mon!” Before I could protest, her forelimbs grabbing my arm, opened the door, and we ran right out to Rarity’s boutique.
