“Their are those born for greatness, those born to do extraordinary things, and then, there are those who are born for reasons quite unknown. This is the story of 6 ponies, each born to become something they never imagined themselves to be, Heroes. Through life’s challenges, they will learn about themselves, and discover their true destiny…”
Chapter 1: New Faces, New Places
“I hope this goes well…maybe I should just skip over this town, it’d probably be the best thing, I mean, what if they think the same as every other pony else, just this once, I’d like to know I can relax….please, just this once.” thought the grey stallion as he continued walking towards Ponyville, he seemed a bit uneasy, as if he was afraid to keep on going. “I just have to stay calm, I have to!, I can’t lose control, not here….please not here.” The stallion continued to think, he then closed his eyes and continued walking town, taking calming breaths along the way. As he continued his walk, he felt at ease, and was calming himself from him paranoia. Just he was getting as calm as he could, without noticing, he bumped into something, and was knocked down right on his flank. “Oh, I’m sorry, I wasn’t looking where I was go…ing…” said the soft spoken stallion as he opened his eyes to see what he bumped into, and to his awe, it was another pony. She was a pink mare with a wild pink mane that strangely looked like cotton candy, her eyes were a lovely blue color, and what really caught his attention was her Cutiemark, three balloons, two blue ones and one yellow one. “Wow…she’s….she’s beautiful.” thought the stallion as a small blush began to form on his cheeks. “Oh that’s okay, I was to busy thinking about this idea for a party I have in the works, then you bumped into me and I began thinking Ohmygoshanewponythatmeansanewpartytomake!, so I guess it’s actually lucky that you bumped into me, because now I can started, which means I have to go, Bye Stranger, I gotta find some fresh confetti!” said the pink mare who then took off in a blur of pink, leaving the grey stallion in a daze, as he just sat there, his thoughts were fixated on one thing, that pink mare, as much he wanted to, he couldn’t get her out of her head. “What’s wrong with me, I’ve never felt anything like this before, it’s weird, usually mares don’t make me think this much, heck, I never think about mares….but, she seems ‘different’, I wonder why?” thought the stallion as he finally picked himself off the ground, he looked on from where the pink had been standing and saw the town was close by, he figured he might as well explore this town now. “I guess it wouldn’t hurt to check this place out now, maybe I’ll run into that nice mare again-” It was at that moment that he realized something rather important, he didn’t know her name. “Oh Pony feathers!, I don’t know her name…I suppose I could ask somepony, but it’s not like she’s well known by everypony there.” thought the grey pony as he started to head into town, not really knowing what to expect.
After his encounter with the strange pink mare, the grey pony finally entered the town of Ponyville, he looked around and saw lots of different ponies of different colors, genders and species. He was surprised at how happy all the ponies were, they seemed like they were able to live together without any troubles. It astounded him to see such a thing, he felt uneasy, like as if him being would ruin all these ponies happiness. Before he could focus on this any longer, his stomach decided to begin rumbling much to his embarrassment. “Oh, I guess it has been a while since I last ate anything, I wonder where I can get something to eat?” the stallion said to himself as he began to look around for anywhere that looked like a place to find food. As he continued looking around, he still had an uneasy feeling, a paranoia that seemed to stem from something that couldn’t be explained. His focus became mainly drawn on his paranoia so much, that he failed to notice the small filly he bumped into. ‘Ah!, why do keep bumping into ponies?” the stallion asked himself, which seemed rather confusing to young filly. “Um, who are you talking to mister?” asked the young filly, catching the stallion off guard. “Oh, uh, I guess I was talking to myself.” replied the stallion with slight embarrassment as a small blush formed on his face. “That’s weird, usually ponies who talk to themselves are crazy, are you crazy?”
“No, I’m not crazy, don’t you think that’s kinda rude to ask somepony?” asked the grey stallion to the young filly, who suddenly had a smile begin to creep on her face and a few giggles escaped her mouth. “Um, what’s so funny?” asked the stallion. “You talk funny.” giggled the young filly causing the stallion to turn red. It was true, though he didn’t like to admit it, he did have a rather funny accent, he mainly blames it on his birthplace, Trottingham, and as long as he could remember, he could never get rid of the accent, it probably explains why he didn’t talk much. “Don’t you think that’s a rude thing to say to somepony?” asked the stallion , looking down at the young filly, as he looked, he took notice of her appearance, she was a small unicorn filly with a light gray coat, her eyes were a amber color, and her mane was blond, she actually looked rather adorable, he took notice of her lack of a Cutiemark, so he knew she was quite young, and can probably understand her earlier comments. “I’m sorry mister.” she responded in a sad tone, which made the stallion feel sorry. He sighed and shock his head a bit as he began to reply. “It’s quite all right, I can understand you didn’t mean it…tell you what, I’ll forgive you if you can tell where I can find a place to get something to eat, sound good?” asked the stallion, reassuring the little filly. “Okay mister, … Oh!, I know a good place, Sugarcube Corner has really tasty stuff there, you can’t miss it, it’s the really colorful building that looks like it’s made of candy.” “Um, all right then, thank you-…Oh, I forgot to ask, what’s your name?” asked the stallion. “Oh, my name’s Dinky Doo, what’s your name mister?” asked Dinky. “Oh…..my name…well, my name’s Equinox, Equinox Greyheart.” replied Equinox who seemed rather nervous about the subject of his name. “Equinox, that’s a weird name.” said Dinky quite optimistically. “Yes, it is…anyways, thank you Dinky for telling me what I needed to know.” Equinox said with a small grin as he then walked away and began to look for Sugarcube Corner, leaving Dinky standing there as she watched him leave. “He sure is weird….Equinox….” Dinky thought to herself as a small blush formed on her face, she then remembered she had to get home very soon and took off in the opposite direction, and headed home.
After a few minutes of walking around, Equinox finally managed to find Sugarcube Corner. “Dinky wasn’t kidding, it does look it’s made of candy.” thought Equinox as he approached the building, he stood in front of the door for a moment, nervously wondering what would await him inside, but, he held his breath, and made his way inside. He noticed a blue earth pony mare at the counter, she was older then himself, but probably only by a few years. She noticed him standing there, and seemed enjoyed to see a customer. “Hello there, welcome to Sugarcube Corner, what can I get you?” asked the blue mare behind the counter. “’Oh. Um…do you, have coffee?” Equinox asked nervously. “Of course we do, anything else?”
“Um, do you have muffins?” “Why yes, we do, what kind so you want?” she asked rather nicely, as if noticing his shyness. “I’ll take Banana Nut, if you have it.” “All right that‘ll be 7 bits, I’ll be back with your order in a bit, take a seat.” she said with a warm smile. “Thank you.” uttered Equinox as he paid for his order, and quietly took a seat at a nearby table, he looked out the window, watching the other ponies going about there business, some were young children, other were ponies with jobs, he saw how happy they looked, he felt saddened by this, saddened by the truth that he himself could never have this. He thought about all the other towns he’d been to, how he was treated, and he noticed how different it was here, he was being treated nicely, as if he wasn’t an outsider, and it felt nice. He couldn’t help but smile at the thought of actually being somewhere nice, where the townsfolk were friendly and accepting to a stranger. “Maybe, it’s time I stop running, I’ve been running to long, and this town, it’s so nice, if I could stay, I would….but I can’t risk it happening again, I don’t wanna be responsible for another town getting hurt all because of me, these ponies don’t deserve to be judged, they’re good people, and they will not, they shall not be harmed, not by my actions…That pink pony…this town is her home, and I don’t to ruin it, she seemed so happy, everypony is so happy, and if I stay here to long, then…I don’t think that would stay the same, I should leave soon, I don’t want to be a burden on this town or it’s people.” Thought Equinox as he sat there, thinking long and hard about all he’s done, the things that he couldn’t control, he was hiding something, a secret, and maybe, this secret is why he’s so afraid to stay.
“Here you are, a hot coffee, and banana nut muffin, is that all you want?” asked the blue mare who interrupted Equinox’s train of thought, and catching him off guard. “Huh, oh, yes, it’s fine, thank you.” quickly answered Equinox, regaining some composure. “Very well, hope you enjoy it, but if you change your mind, just call, I’m Mrs. Cake, and, I get you’re a shy boy, we have a resident who’s very similar, she’s a shy one too, so I get you’re uneasy, but you can relax here, it’s a safe place here, and you’re always welcome here.” said Mrs. Cake with a kind and motherly smile. “Thank you, Mrs. Cake.” replied Equinox as Mrs. Cake nodded and returned to the kitchen, with no other customers in the store, she felt she didn’t need to stay at the counter. As he sat there, Equinox began to calm himself, and relax. He thought about what Mrs. Cake had said. “Could she have been meaning….that I’m welcome in this town?, she seemed so nice, she kinda acted like a mom there…this is getting difficult, how do I decide whether to stay, or leave?…besides, even if I stay, what would I do, I doubt anypony would hire me, who’d hire a pony with a weird Cutiemark, I have no talent, just a curse…I probably couldn’t even get a mare friend, I’m no charmer, I doubt even that pink mare from earlier would be interested in me.” Equinox continued to think as he looked out the window again, and barely noticed six mares run off, heading out of town, and he could’ve sworn one was the pink mare he met earlier. He shook off the thought and finished his coffee and muffin, he looked around for Mrs. Cake, but no one was near by, he took a piece of paper and pen from his saddlebag and wrote a message, he then threw his muffin wrapper and cup in a near by wastebasket, left both the note and a few bits, and quietly made his way out of Sugarcube Corner without being noticed. Just as he left, Mrs. Cake returned from the Kitchen. “How are you doing-” abruptly said Mrs. Cake before noticing Equinox had left. She saw the note on the table with his tip and went over to see it;
“Thank you Mrs. Cake, thank you for being kind, sorry I left without saying goodbye, I was never good with goodbyes, but I will say this, I’m glad I came to this town, hopefully, it remains this way even after I’m gone, I’d never want anything bad to happen to the ponies of this town, especially because of me. Again, thank you, I hope the tip I left is decent enough, Farewell. - Equinox
“Equinox?…so that’s his name.” thought Mrs. Cake as she began to wonder about him, thinking about what he had written, and what it meant. “I hope you’re careful Equinox, I really do.” Mrs. Cake said as she returned behind the counter and put his tip into the register.
“I’m sorry Mrs. Cake, for leaving so abruptly, I couldn’t live with myself if anything happened, I can feel it, it might happen again, there are some things we can’t control, and, I’m afraid for it to happen, I have to leave before it comes out. I can’t-” Equinox thought but soon, his thoughts began to fade. “Afraid are we Equinox, don’t forget who you are, WHAT you are, if you honestly think these ponies would accept you, even if they found out the truth, then you’re a fool, and you always will be.” said a menacing voice in Equinox’s head, it seemed rather similar to his own voice, but, it was darker. “Stop, I get it, but that doesn’t mean I can’t try, right?, I’ve been trying for years to control it, and maybe, staying would be a good thing, I can learn, I can have a life.” “What life, a life of being feared, of being hated, is that what you want, to be known as a monster?, well, do you?” “No, but.” “But what, their’s no buts, we either leave and run, or stay be chastised by everypony, simple as that, you wouldn’t want what happened all those years ago to happen here, would you?” “No!, of course not, I promised to never let that happen again, and it won’t happen again, because I will find a way to control you, control both of you.” “You might be able to tell that goodie good weakling what to do, but not me, I’m in control, and when I get out, I’ll show you why I am to be feared by all, especially by you, Equinox.” “I won’t let you…I know if that ever comes to happen, I’ll stop you.” “If you say so, but, you’re going to have more to deal with first before I become your true issue, just you wait, Just. You. Wait.” “What do you mean, what’s coming, tell me!” “The end of Equestria, and the return, of great evil.”
