Dead in civilization
Confrontation: Memory lane
Previous ChapterNext ChapterCelestia, Luna, Twilight , Rarity and Rainbow Dash appeared, so to speak. They were asleep and inside Dead's nightmare. The area around them was thick with smoke. Scream could occasionally be heard and in the distance fire could be seen. Every now and then a group of five griffons would fly overhead. The ground was stained black from fire and the nearby houses were char.
"Where are we?" Twilight asked as she studied the destruction.
"It would seem that we are in a fragment memory. This appears to be Dead's village. And as the report suggested. It is under attack."
"Where can we go from here?" Twilight asked as she flinched to a scream in the background. "I don't like this..."
"I agree, this is most unsettling. You said we have to find the manifestation of Dead's past and the future she doesn't want. It would thrive here." Rarity said as the fire burst in the distance.
"It would seem a clear path would lead us deeper into the village. Luna, what do you think." Celestia asked Luna as the group gazed over a pathway that lead into the depths of the village.
"This place, it is painful. We must not waste any time, least it tears our sanity." Luna sighed. "We must go deeper. While it is weak I can seance the manifestation."
"Alright then, let beat this and go save Dead... From herself!" Rainbow shouted as she took off. The moment she hit the skyline a shrill cry could be heard and a group of three griffons landed by the group. "Woah!" Rainbow barely dodged the dive-bombing griffon.
"What do we do?" Rarity shouted as the griffons enclosed. Withing moments Luna cast a spell and as soon as it contacted the griffons they collapsed. "Well I guess..." The griffons started scream and convulsing as their flesh began to bubble, nearly as quickly as Luna had defeated them they were skeletons. The skeletons then flew off quickly.
"We should stay on the ground, while I can stop these memories... Doing so is taxing. We need to move." Luna said emotionless as the group started walking down the pathway. As they went deeper and deeper into the village the destruction only seemed to get worse. "We are getting closer to the manifestation we can feel it."
After what seemed to be an hour of walking down the pathway what seemed to be a chestnut colored pony was lying on the ground. However after the group approached it, it convulsed and turned into a skeleton in a fashion similar to the griffons. "Dead never killed anypony, however that pony looked... Similar to her." Celestia said sadly. Luna looked down at the skeleton.
"Welcome to the death of her childhood. This will not be easy." Luna said as she looked away and continued walking down the pathway.
After a few minuets of walking the group came across a mare who was running around frantically. Twilight ran up to her to ask her what the matter was however the mare beat her to it.
"Help! Please! Anypony!" The mare cried out as Twilight approached. "You! Please..."
"Whats the matter?" Twilight asked her.
"My foal! She is in that house! Please I went to try and save her and nearly chocked to death." The mare gestured to a house that was not burned down, but was halfway there.
"Twilight, we do not think it is a good idea to... Interact with these memories." Luna instructed however Twilight had already charged toward the burning building. As she got within earshot of the fire a griffon swooped down and dropped a large container on the house. The container cracked when it hit the building and poured oil all over the house, which then collapsed down. When Twilight turned around the mare had vanished.
A strange presence could be felt as Twilight ran back to her friends. A fog fell over them and a foal's voice could be heard.
I tried. I tried so hard to save them. They took everything from me... My home, my family, my friends... I was just a foal of eight years. And they killed my family in front of me. Can you imagine that. My brother, mother and father killed in front of as I hid under a table. Their lifeless eyes staring into my soul, begging for revenge.
The fog dissipated and then swirled into a black energy. The energy the rushed down the pathway and another voice could be heard however this one sounded more demonic, however the foal's voice could still be heard.
Yes... YES! Make me relive every moment of my scared past! Make me remember it all! Make me stronger!
"I'm sorry... So sorry... I don't know what came over me. As soon as I saw that mare I thought I knew her, that I had to help or at least try to..." Twilight cried into Celestia's shoulder as she sobbed.
"Do not worry, it was not your fault." Celestia comforted Twilight and gently stroked her mane in a motherly way.
Luna took the lead as the group contained down the path until they encountered another memory.
"N-No! Please don't! H-Help!" A stallion ran across the path with a young colt on his back, once he got halfway a griffon slammed into him and began viciously tearing at the stallion and colt. Within moments the griffon took off and all that remained of the stallion and the colt was a muddled pile of bones. The skull of the stallion turned and looked at the group. "Why.. Didn't you hel..." The skull fell down, leaving the group stunned.
The fog returned along with the foal's regular voice.
He died in front of me. I knew him and his colt well. And his last words were questioning why an eight year old didn't seal her fate. I hated myself for the next five minuets and considered jumping and a fire several times. But they eyes. The eyes of the dead called out to me. Begging, pleading and demanding revenge.
The fog once again swirled and turned into a black energy that flew down the pathway. The demonic foal's voice returned with it
I was called a monster for what I did. But now. You see, you see it all. The ugly truth. All the while I grow stronger. I will claim her and the world above, nothing will ever hurt her again. I will make sure of that.
