Dead in civilization
Mornings can be your friend.
Previous ChapterNext ChapterDitzy's house was calm, a warm light swept through the partially drawn curtains. In the bedroom of said house, three mare were soundly sleeping on the large bed. All worn out from activities that they had done the previous night. Ditzy was the first of the trio who started to wake, her job as a mailmare meant that she had to be up early everyday to deliver the mail. The mailmare gently kissed the two sleeping mares before she put on her uniform and left for work.
About ten minuets passed and Dead started to stir. She rolled in the bed and tried to find something to attach to. Two rolls later and she fell off the bed with a loud thump.
"Ow...." Dead groaned from the floor. "My head..." Dead groaned a second time, hoping that somepony would come to her rescue.
"Oh Dead, you are rather silly." A voice called out from the bed. "No sense in letting you stay on the ground. A magical aura picked Dead up and placed her on her hooves. Dead could now see Rarity lying on her side, giving Dead a half ladled look. "Why not come back to bed darling?" Rarity gently patted the area in front of her. Dead climbed back onto the large bed and positioned herself in front of Rarity.
"It looks like Ditzy has gone to work." Dead turned and looked at the clock of the wall. "She can't of left any longer then ten minuets ago." Dead sighed happily her mind replaying the events that had taken place the previous night. "I am so happy it work out. I didn't really have any idea what I was doing last night."
"It was a first for me as well Dead." Rarity said happily. "I hope I didn't do anything wrong..." Rarity chuckled slightly.
"I would no be the pony to talk to that about that, but anyway I think I should get. Have any preferences for breakfast?" Dead paused. "Normally Ditzy makes pancakes before she leaves, they might still be warm if she did."
"Pancakes sounds wonderful Dead, lets go before I fall asleep." Rarity sighed as the pair got out of bed and made their way to the kitchen. Much to Dead's joy two plates of freshly made pancakes were already set up on the table.
"I guess I don't have to cook today, lets hope they are still warm." Dead said as she sat down at the table. Dead eyed up two muffins in the center of the table. "Looks like she left some muffins for us."
"We should eat up before its get cold. I would hate for this to go to waste." Rarity said as she started eating the warm pancakes. Dead quickly hurried ahead and downed her pancakes. She picked up the muffin and began devouring it.
"Mmmmm. Blueberry." Dead said with a mouthful of muffin.
"Dead, please can you avoid talking with your mouth full." Rarity said as she rolled her eyes. "It is highly unladylike."
"Sorry Rarity, I'm not used to fine dinning yet." Dead said after swallowing her mouthful. The pair went silent as Rarity finished her breakfast.
"That reminds me Dead, the reason I came down last night was because I had an idea." Rarity started. "You remember that you suggested we go on a date?"
"Yes, I do recall saying something along the lines of that." Dead said as she cleaned her plate.
"Well I new restaurant is opening in town soon. It claims to be 'modern'. I spoke to the owner last night and he said it would be open in a few weeks." Rarity continued. "I have a leaflet if you want to look at it." Rarity brought the leaflet out and levitated it over to Dead. Dead took it and began reading it.
"Seems interesting, yeah I think that is something we could do when the place opens." Dead said happily. Rarity got up and started heading to the door. "Wait, where are you going Rarity?"
"I recall making a promise to a certain dragon not too long ago. Would you like to help?" Rarity asked Dead.
"Yeah, let me just leave a note for Ditzy." Dead said as she teleported a piece of paper and a quill to her. She quickly wrote something down and then joined Rarity in leaving the house. The pair walked through the town happily, it was still early in the morning and the weather team had not cleared the morning clouds that had blown over from Everfree.
"Dead can I tell you something?" Rarity asked.
"Sure thing Rarity, I'm all ears." Dead sang out happily.
Rarity lowered her voice so that anypony withing earshot would not be able to hear. "I didn't really know what to say about the whole... Relationship." Rarity sighed. "I have my mind made up now but, when you first suggested the idea..."
"I know Rarity," Dead reassured her. "When I first heard the idea I was a bit shocked." Dead chuckled. "Ditzy is just full of surprises isn't she?"
"Yes you could say that." Rarity sighed happily. "I am glad it had worked out well."
Ditzy was flying from house to house dropping off the mail as she went. She was flying a fair bit faster then normal and while this may have caused her to crash a few times it would be worth it when she got to spend a few minuets longer with the mares she loved. Ditzy was half amazed that her plan had played out so well, while flying from house to house she had time to reflect on what had exactly lead up to it happening.
A few days earlier...
Ditzy rolled off of Dead, it must have been late as the sun was starting to rise. "Urgh, I have to at work in a bit..." Ditzy half groaned. "I need a shower though. How about you Dead?" Dead had fallen silent. "Was I too much?"
Dead sighed. "No, not at all. I mean I don't really have anything to go on about how that should have gone." Dead chuckled slightly.
"Having regrets?" Ditzy asked.
"No, just..." Dead rolled over and looked Ditzy in the eyes. "Do you know Rarity?"
"Not personally, but I do know the pony." Ditzy replied. "Why what happened?"
"Well, I can't really confirm this yet but. I am certain that she was vying for my affections." Dead sighed. "Its not that I'm not happy, I just feel bad for leaving her out. After all she was one of the ponies responsible for bringing me in, I feel like I owe her at least." Dead sighed again. "I really should have thought about this before diving into a relationship..."
Ditzy gently tapped Dead on the muzzle. "You shouldn't stress too much about this Dead, have you talked to her about it?"
"Not since we started seeing each other Ditzy, I get the feeling she is avoiding seeing me with you... I can't figure out why though." Dead sighed once again. "I'm so stupid..."
"Maybe she just doesn't want to see you as taken. She is the element of generosity, but everypony has needs and desires." Ditzy kissed Dead gently on the muzzle. "You're not being stupid, just caring." Ditzy said calmly.
"But what should I do Ditzy, I can't leave you nor would I. But I can't be happy knowing how Rarity feels or felt for me..." Dead sighed for the forth time. "Help me Ditzy..." Dead latched onto Ditzy and hugged her deeply. Tears started to trail down Dead's face and onto the bed.
"Look Dead, who said you can't have both?" Ditzy said insistently. "And you know what I mean by that don't you?"
"You mean both you and Rarity?" Dead questioned.
"Yes, you can make us both happy. And we can make you very happy." Ditzy said smugly.
"How would that even work Ditzy? And wouldn't that force you into something you don't really want to do?" Dead questioned.
"Well I never said I would not be happy with it Dead, and besides you seem pretty wound up over the whole matter. I think it would be a good idea for all of us." Ditzy said confidently. "Next time you see Rarity, and if you are comfortable tell her what I said or something along the lines of it."
"But what if she says she doesn't want to? What if it makes out friendship awkward?" Dead panicked slightly.
"We will never know unless you try Dead. But right now, I need a shower..." Ditzy pulled away from Dead and headed towards the bathroom. "I suggest you have one as well Dead."
Present day...
Knock-Knockknockknock
Twilight got up from the table and answered the door. She cursed silently as she pulled the door open. "Rainbow?" Twilight exclaimed. "What are you doing here at this time?" Rainbow, who was on the other side of the door looking rather tired. "Did you get any sleep last night?" Twilight asked. Rainbow stood at the doorway expectantly. "Fine, come in." Twilight rolled her eyes as Rainbow flew in past Twilight.
"Sorry Twi, I just need to talk about something." Rainbow said as she sat down. "And no, I got very little sleep last night. Something was keeping me awake."
Twilight went back and sat down, she levitated a hot chocolate that she had made for Spike and gave it to rainbow. "Do you want to tell me about it Rainbow?" Twilight said warmly.
"Yeah, I guess its pretty stupid. I'm normally awesome and all." Rainbow said hollowly. "But I didn't realize that what Rarity said was for real. I thought Dead slept with her so she wouldn't feel so bad." Rainbow sighed. "I'm such a jerk for thinking that..."
"Go on Rainbow, I'm all ears." Twilight said calmly.
"Well I was out on an evening fly, like I do most days. And I saw Rarity go into Ditzy's house. I expected her to leave within a minuets. But she didn't." Rainbow facehoofed. "I don't know what I was think at the moment but I was worried, so after a few minuets I flew to the bedroom window..."
"I see." Twilight said calmly. "So you saw them having a three-way?" Twilight reluctantly said.
"Y-Yeah, but I thought that I would get over it. But it kept me up." Rainbow turned away from Twilight. "I don't get it..."
"Well I think that you have been smitten by one of them." Twilight concluded. "And seeing as you have known Ditzy and Rarity for a while. I'm going to go with Dead."
"That's silly Twilight, I mean sure when she first showed up I did kind of want to...." Twilight shushed Rainbow.
"Rainbow, I don't need to know about what you wanted to do with Dead. But I think you have developed some feelings for Dead." Twilight rolled her eyes. "I know you think you are impervious to love, but..."
"Twilight, I think I would know if I was in love." Rainbow rolled her eyes.
"But you lost sleep over her, when you saw her with other ponies it upset you to the point where you have come to me to talk about it. Face it Rainbow you are hopelessly in love." Twilight said smugly. "Now you can admit it or we can argue all mourning."
"Fine, but only because I nee... Would like some advice. So Twilight what do you think I should do?" Rainbow asked.
"Well from what I heard from Rarity, they are looking to 'expand' their love group. You could try and gain entrance." Twilight said quickly.
"So it would be Me, Ditzy, Dead and Rarity? Don't you think that is possibly a bit too much? I mean I am only one pony Twilight." Rainbow said confidently. "And what if it goes on? Before you know it half the mares in Equestria would be dating them. Heck you could be Twilight!" Rainbow chuckled.
"Well think about it this way Rainbow." Twilight said flatly. "Dead has spent well over a thousand years not knowing what true love is. She has just been introduced to it and she probably wants to share it with as many ponies as possible. Think about it, who has she had interest in since she arrived?" Twilight said confidently and happily.
"Me, Rarity, Ditzy and Big Mac? Yeah I think that's all." Rainbow started to drink her lukewarm chocolate. "So?"
"Well think about it, she fell in love with Ditzy in what, a few hours. And this is true love Rainbow, she wasn't faking it." Twilight happily said. "And then a few days later, that same love is directed at Rarity. Dead has over a thousand years of love 'stored' in her."
"So you're saying that she would love a thousand years worth of ponies?" Rainbow questioned. "Because that's a lot of mares."
"I don't think Dead would go on if anypony wasn't happy with it. And I need to talk to Ditzy about how the idea of Rarity joined their group came to be."
"So I have a chance?" Rainbow said with hope in her voice.
"Yes, but you would have to be able to love all members in the group or else you might get kicked out. If you go into the group and only love Dead the others will feel left out." Twilight explained. "Listen Rainbow, I have a book on this kind of things. Do you want me to lend it to you?" Twilight asked.
"Pshhhh. Books are for eggheads..." Twilight gave Rainbow a stern look. "I will have it for a one week loan please." Rainbow hastily said.
Twilight quickly scanned the bookshelves and pulled out a book titled; Love shapes, its not just a line. The cover illustrated a strange multi-sided shape with various faces that were joined via lines. "I read this not too long ago, it was also one of the books I lent Dead."
"You mean one of the books the emotionally scarred her?" Rainbow questioned.
"No, I don't know how much of it she read to be honest. She read about fifty books in a few hours, she probably skimmed over them." Twilight rolled her eyes. "Do you want it or not?"
"Yes please!" Rainbow exclaimed. She swiftly took the book and flew out of the library. Twilight sat back down and started drinking her how chocolate, she didn't notice that Spike had been listening from the top of the stairs.
"Twilight. Did you have any idea what you were talking about?" A tired sounding Spike said from the top of the stairs.
"Nope, not a clue. I was just saying something Cadance said and hoping for the best." Twilight giggled.
