Someone was knocking on Ditzy's door, the mail mare was used to the odd complaint about incorrect mail and she steeled herself for the worst. Ditzy sighed and got up, she knew that even if it wasn't somepony complaining it would probably be Twilight telling her that Dead is still asleep and there is no need for her to come down. Ditzy slow trudged towards the door.
Knock-knock-knock
The knocking was harder, it must have been something urgent like incorrect mail. Or maybe something had happened to Dead. Ditzy dreaded the thought, last time Twilight had urgent news was when she rolled off the sofa and Twilight couldn't move her for some reason. Ditzy got to the halfway mark and as per the usual she started to imagine that it was Dead on the other side, but knowing Dead she would have all ready dived in and they would be having a rather romantic session.
Knock Knock knock KNOCK!
The knocking was frantic it was defiantly urgent yet Ditzy didn't speed up. After what seemed like forever Ditzy made it to the door and slowly opened it.
"MAILMARE!" The old colt shouted. "I got the wrong mail today!" The colt threw some mail at Ditzy. "Fix it!"
"This is your mail, and I didn't deliver your mail today." Ditzy said as she picked up the mail and tried to give it back.
"Its not mine! This mail is addressed to a Mr Grouchy. I'm Mr Growouchy!"
""No, you're just reading it wrong, I can assure you that the mail is yours. If its that much of a problem take it up with the post office." Ditzy huffed slightly as the stubborn colt refused to leave. "Sir, could you please leave."
"Fix it! NOW!" The old colt shouted.
"I believe she asked you to leave. I would appreciate if you followed her wishes." A voice said threateningly from behind the colt.
"Bah the youth of today, no respect for mail hoarding elders." The old colt said as he walked away.
"Ditzy are you alright?" Cherilee said as she walked just outside of the doorway. "I hope he doesn't come back, I don't think I could do that again." Cherilee sighed. "Anyway do you mind if I come in for a bit, I have something I need to discuss with you."
"Of course, its the least I can do. And thank you Miss Cherilee." Ditzy said as she lead Cherilee into the front room. "Just take a seat anywhere." Cherilee took a seat and Ditzy sat down next to her. "So what are you after?"
"Careers days in school is coming up, I'm asking as many ponies as I can to come in and give talks about their jobs. Would you like to come in and give a speech about delivering the mail?" Cherilee asked hopefully.
"I would be more then happy to! Its a shame Dinky won't be there to see..." Ditzy sighed. "How many times can Canterlot be 'locked down' due to a changeling risk?" Ditzy huffed.
"Yeah I know what you mean, first they got the dates mixed up then Canterlot got locked down and nopony could leave." Cherilee huffed slightly. "I don't like it one bit, I could imagine the teachers their brainwashing the unicorns that have visited." Cherilee chuckled.
"So anything else on your mind?" Ditzy asked.
"Oh one thing! Could you tell me everything you know about Dead, I'm trying to compile a dossier on her. Like we have on Pinkie, just for Dead, just in case something happens." Cherilee said happily.
"Did the mayor ask you to do that? She could have just asked me." Ditzy sighed. "Or ask Twilight, she seems to know tons about Dead."
"I know its a strange request, but if its too much to ask..." Cherilee said shakily.
"Oh no, its fine I will tell you what I know..." Ditzy started.
Knock knock knock
"If it's that colt again..." Cherilee sighed. "Don't worry Ditzy I will get it." Cherilee sighed as she got up and went to the door, she sighed a final time and then opened the door.
"Hey Cherilee! Didn't expect to see you here!" Dead exclaimed as she stood happily in the doorway. "Is Ditzy home?"
"She sure is, come right on in Dead." Cherilee smiled happily as Dead passed her, if Dead had turned around at any point she would have seen Cherilee gawking at her. "D-Ditzy is in the front room. I'm sure she will be happy to see you." Dead kept her stride until she entered the front room.
"Dead!" Ditzy yelled as she flew into Dead and hugged her until she was gasping for air. "Opps... Sorry, I guess I missed you more then I realized. You need to stop getting pulled away from me! I feel like you are intentionally doing it!" Ditzy chuckled happily as Dead caught her breath.
"S-S-Sorry Ditzy, didn't mean for it to last so long, or happen for that matter." Dead spluttered as she caught her breath. "Wow, was it really that bad without me?"
"Well it was bad in some sense however, it was good in another way..." Ditzy winked at Dead, Cherilee blushed slightly, although it was impossible to tell with her fur color.
"I see, well maybe in a few days or so we could try that..." Dead smirked slightly. "Unless you had plans."
"As a matter of fact we do. We have a dinner date at a new restaurant when it opens!" Ditzy cheered happily. "We're all going to be having a dinner date as marefirends!"
"That is certainly a date I am look forward to, it will be nice when all of us are at the restaurant!" Dead sighed happily. "You know I am really looking forward to it. Anyway I'm going to go try and track down Twilight, lets hope she hasn't gotten too far." Dead gave Ditzy a quick kiss and then ran out the door. "See you later Ditzy!" Dead called out.
"She really is something is she Cherilee..." Ditzy chuckled happily and let out a sigh. "I can't wait for our date!"
"Well I certainly hope you all have a good time! Anyway I must be going, I have tomorrows lessons to plan, no rest for the wicked eh?" Cherilee giggled as Ditzy chuckled.
"Yeah, I know how you feel. Good luck!" Ditzy said as Cherilee left the house. "She was total checking Dead out..." Ditzy sighed. "That's such a Rainbow Dash thing to say."
They were nowhere, Dead had turned the town of Ponyville upside down and she could not find Twilight or any of her friends. She assumed that they had gone to Canterlot but talking to Lyra briefly relieved that they were in town somewhere but Lyra had also told Dead that she saw them five hours ago. Dead went to the library and knocked on the door, if she didn't know where Twilight was, Spike would.
"Hey Spike!" Dead called out. "Do you know where Twilight is?"
"She just left for the Crystal empire, something important apparently. Regular Armageddon doomsday stuff." Spike called out from behind the door.
Thump.
"Oh dear, it would seem Skullworthy was wrong." Dead chuckled as she called the skull from the ground. "Skullworthy it is time, say ahhh."
"Dead, what did you do?" Spike called out.
Thump Thump.
Skullworthy opened his jaw and Dead reached in, after fishing around she pulled out a small sphere rather then being smooth the sphere had hexagons covering it. Dead levitated the sphere at horn height. "Ready?" She asked the floating skull.
Thump, Thump, Thump, Thump
"Ready!" The skull cheered. "Do it!"
Dead siphoned a large amount of energy of the object and fired a huge stream of energy into Skullworthy. The energy stream swirled and pushed Dead backwards as she maintained the spell. The energy curved and jagged while Dead was channeling, two grey strands swirled around the white beam and the skull started to grow, skeletal body parts were ripped out of the ground and they attached to the skull, soon Skullworthy was sporting a complete body with bones wings.
Dead groaned as the spell consumed a large amount of energy. The gray lines swirled around the skeletal dragon and forced it grow in size, within seconds the hard grown to the size of a two story house, Skullworthy grew slightly more and stopped. The huge skeletal dragon picked up the somewhat smaller looking necromancer and placed her on top of his skull.
"Looking good Skullworthy, so are you ready to kick some lich?" Dead happily asked. The somewhat larger skeletal dragon nodded happily and took to the skies quickly. Dead used the sphere pull a few grey energy streams out of the skull, they wrapped around her barrel and kept her in place.
Thump, Thump, Thump, Thump, Thump, Thump.
"Its running... What should I do Dead?" Skullworthy shouted to Dead.
"Follow it, we can't let it get to anywhere populated... How did we miss it?" Dead rubbed her forehead as she considered her options. "Of course, it reconnected itself and ran off. Then it grew massive, when we wouldn't see it!" Dead chuckled as the dragon picked up speed. "Woah you are going fast." Dead exclaimed. "Go faster!" Dead laughed like a madmare. The dragon lowered his head and picked up even more speed.
"Dead, I sense it. The lich is heading towards the Crystal empire. It must be trying to tap into the magical source." Skullworthy explained. "We will be there is five minuets. Are you ready?" The dragon said confidently, his voice changed and was more deeper, more suiting for his size.
"Of course! I am always ready!" Dead shouted confidently. "Lets go do something life threatening and dangerous!" Dead focused mentally for a moment. "We need to be quick, I can't hold this spell up for too long." Dead paused. "No I'm lying I can hold this up for a few hours the folly makes sure of that! Everything is so much easier with relics of magical power."
"So Cadance what did you want to talk about?" Twilight asked, it was just her and Cadance in the crystal library the others had gone out to explore the empire.
"Magical relics, more specifically the ones to do with necromancy." Cadance said sternly. "Dead has one of the them, the Bone-weavers folly."
"And how did was she able to get this relic?" Twilight asked.
"She made it! I mean, I doubt anypony except her knows where it is but she made it." Cadance said confidently. "The skull source, Bone-weavers folly, shadow diamond and blood robes are the four main necromancy relics. And guess who made them all."
"Grim, Nazz, Dead and Marcia?" Twilight sounded confused. "But why not tell anypony?" Twilight puzzled.
"They were to be used if Legion was ever able to escape. And I fear he may have done just that to some extent. I studied the letter you sent me about Dead and the lich, tell me did Dead have any strange items in her house? Preferably skeletons." Cadance curiously asked. Cadance took a seat on a table.
"Yes... A strange skeleton in her basement. It had hands and thumbs! Looked like it stood on two legs. Wait are you telling me that was the lich?" Twilight exclaimed.
"Yes, and Legion has been pouring his power into it ever since he had the chance to when he fought us. The lich will soon rise and attempt to come here in order to feed off the magical energy that originates in here." Cadance said sounding concerned. "Twilight you need to find out when it will return. I need time to prepare for its attack."
Thump, Thump.
"No, not now..." Cadance sighed.
