Dead in civilization
What can only be described as 'a party and/or rave'
Previous ChapterNext ChapterPonies were dancing everywhere, lights were bouncing off the clouds everywhere and to top it all off the DJ had only been playing for two minutes. Dead however, remained seated. Rarity was gently leaning into her neck with Cherilee doing the same except on the other side. Ditzy and Rainbow were dancing in the dance section of the small concert, Dead wasn't listening to the music although the words 'spooky scary skeletons' seemed to be chanted a lot. Dead chuckled happily. "So this party, pretty off the hook right?" Dead said happily.
"I'm not really the pony to talk to about that, I'm always planning lessons or marking work." Cherilee calmly spoke over the music. "But if its just like this, I'm happy." Cherilee sighed and gently kissed Dead's neck. "I know its been said so many times, but you look too normal to be a necromancer."
"Well, you have changed since you came back. A good change if I may say so." Rarity joined in. "I would be dancing, but when Twilight goes up ponies tend to duck out." Rarity chuckled slightly. "Before you ask, it is that bad." Rarity's chuckle turned into a laugh and Cherilee joined in.
"I have heard the rumors about it, but I have never seen it for myself." Cherilee looked around. "Oh my..." Cherilee blushed as she saw Twilight dancing in the middle of all the dancers. A small empty circle surrounded her. "Wow... I didn't know..."
"Yes... It is a sight to see." Dead said awkwardly. "I would join in, but I can't dance and nor do I want try... If that is the result." Dead sighed as the music picked up in temp. "Say has any of you seen the other necromancers?"
"I saw Marcia dancing a moment ago, she seemed to really like the dress I made for her." Rarity said proudly. "I am rather happy with the finish product, and the payment." Rarity shock her head. "Five-hundred bits per dress!" Rarity exclaimed.
"Ah Dead! There is the mare of the hour." Grim shouted as he landed next to the trio sat down. His large overbearing body shadowed the three ponies sat down. "I have for you, a gift." The griffon produced a small box wrapped up neatly in purple wrapping paper with a blue bow and ribbon. Dead gently took the small package and rested in in front of her. "You can open it now, no need to wait." Grim said happily.
Dead gently tugged at the bow with magic, it unraveled and wrapping paper fell off. A small born box sprung open and Dead took its contents out by hoof. A strange twisted horn that was strung on a beaded necklace was gently floating in the air. "Wow, a demon horn necklace, these are rare." Dead calmly said, trying to hide her excitement. "How did you get this?"
"I made it from scratch, killed a demon and enchanted it to act as a magic absorbent. I have had a long time to prepare for your fist birthday party..." Grim sighed happily. "I hope you have wonderful day Dead. Now I am going to join Twilight on the floor, no need to let her suffer by herself." Grim took off and vanished in the dark sky.
"That is certainly a unique gift Dead, what does it do?" Rarity politely asked.
"It is a demon horn necklace, enchanted heavily to increase my magical strength and reduce the impact magic has on me." Dead explained. "Grim told me three-thousand years ago that he was hunting a demon for its horn. I had no idea it was for me though..." Dead sighed happily.
"Wow, I guess hes a pretty good griffon then?" Cherilee added.
"The only one I can stand to be around." Dead sighed happily. "He stopped me when I was younger, trained me, nurtured me..." Dead lost herself in thought before snapping back to reality. "Maybe someday I will tell you all of my past. Just not right now."
"That's fine by me Dead, as much as you are comfortable with." Rarity said happily. "We should go up and dance." Rarity suddenly said.
"Umm why?" Dead asked.
"its your birthday, and i just saw Grim dancing." Rarity chuckled. "And before you ask. A lot worse. I doubt you could do worse then that."
"What do you think Cherilee?" Dead happily asked. "I will dance if we are all willing to. I see no harm in dancing."
"I didn't intend to, but I want to see what you are like dancing Dead. And besides, whats the worst that can happen?"
Dead's ability to dance was the polar opposite of her ability to conjure the dead. It would seem that all the necromancers could not dance to modern music. Dead's rather repulsive dancing had thrown several ponies around and nearly caused the end of the world, twice. Dead's popping and locking had worn here out, she retired back to her seat and sighed. Dead turned and looked at Rainbow who had retired before her.
"Told you I was bad at dancing." Dead stated proudly. "I don't get this 'dub-step' I don't see why anypony would want to drop a bass... They're fish and they live in the water." Dead sighed and looked around. She could still see Twilight and Grim dancing. Cherilee was just coming back and Marcia had just entered wearing her new dress. Marcia quickly spotted Dead and flew over.
"Hey Dead, nice to see you." Marcia said happily as she landed. "Like my dress?" Marcia span on the spot.
"Its certainly nice, I will thank Rarity for doing such a brilliant job." Dead said happily. "I hope you didn't see me dancing, I was rather terrible."
"But Dead, I know you can dance. I know you can dance well. I have seen you dance." Marcia paused and listened to the music briefly. "Just not to this." Marcia spotted Grim dancing like a loony and gave a hearty laugh. "How long will this stay on for? I have an idea that involves skeletons."
"This is the second hour the DJ has been playing, I doubt they will stay up on the stage for much longer." Cherilee said. "I'm Cherilee by the way."
"Pleased to meet you Cherilee, now I need to go and find Nazz. Do you know if hes disguised?" Marcia asked Dead.
"I think he is Grey Mane the magical at the moment, not sure though." Dead sighed. "He may be Blue beard the Not-so-magical. I honestly don't know anymore, too many titles."
"I know how you feel, I lose track of him a lot. He always tries to be a famous magician." Marcia sighed. "I heard he got sent to 'spy' on Cadance. She might know who he is."
"Somedragon say my name?" Cadance announced as she came down from the cloud she was sat on.
"Do you know who Nazz is at this present time?" Marcia asked.
"At the Empire he is Tide Turner, captain of the weather team." Cadance stated. "Cobalt blue pegasus with sapphire mane." Cadance stated happily. "Quite the sight when in flight."
"I am shocked, he is not trying to be some famous mage. That is so unlike him." Marcia said with a sarcastic tone.
"He wanted too, but I told him that we don't need a court mage. He wanted to try and get 'close' to me so that he could teach me a few spells every now and then." Cadance quickly spotted a slow grin appearing on Marcia. "And no, not in that way. I am happily married."
"Eh? What?" Marcia snapped. "I didn't mean it like that, geez." Marcia huffed. "Anyway, have you seen him?"
"Yes, he is in the north-west section. Dancing with a few mares." Cadance rolled her eyes. "Go figure."
"Alright, well I got to go see him. See ya Cadance!" Marcia shouted as she took to the skies.
"So Cadance, how have you been? Aside from Discord being Discord." Dead curiously asked.
"Its been good Dead, aside from watching ponies fail at dancing." Cadance sighed. "Equestria needs more dance studious, seriously. This many ponies dancing poorly should be a crime." Cadance joked happily.
"Dead, what was Marcia saying about you being able to dance?" Cherilee probed.
"I can dance... Just not to modern music. Grim taught us how to dance as a 'get to know the things you will be working with for the next eternity' shortly after I joined the group." Dead answered. "I am worried about what Marcia has planned. I hope she doesn't use to many skeletons, they can be rather frightful."
"Would you say that they are spooky scary?" Cadance joked.
"Yes..." Dead said flatly.
"Would you say that they send shivers town your spine?" Cadance continued.
"Oh... I was slow on that one..." Dead chuckled happily as the group shared a laugh. "Hey Rainbow, you have been rather quiet. Whats up?"
"Tired. All that dancing really wears a mare out." Rainbow yawned. "Cherilee do you plan on moving for the next hour?"
"I don't have any plans to..." Cherilee started. Within moments Rainbow had gotten up and walked around and was lying on Cherilee's chest.
"Good, for the next hour could you be my pillow?" Rainbow asked as she started to drift off into a shallow sleep.
"Sure... Not like I have a choice..." Cherilee sighed. "Hey Dead, if they change the music to something more suited would you go back up?"
"Only if I was with Nazz, hes the only one I can dance with efficiently." Dead sighed. "Took years of practice but we finally nailed it." Dead proudly stated.
"So what kind of dance is it?" Cherilee asked politely.
"Its a waltz, but we can also dance a mean tango. Back when we danced the waltz was the 'hip young thing' everpony tried to do." Dead stated happily. "Now only aristocrats reliving the old days really dance to it." Dead sighed.
"Hey Dead, if I learned how to waltz would you dance with me?" Cadance curiously asked.
"Uh, I suppose so. But the dance I do is rather complex. You should watch me and Nazz do it first." Dead happily said. "This reminds me of when I first met Grim..." Dead said as she started to slip into a daydreaming state. She quickly snapped out. "But that's for some other time."
For the first time in a while the music started to quieten. A large number of ponies returned to their seats and the music faded. Dead looked around briefly and saw Twilight and Ditzy walking over. However she couldn't see any of the necromancers. Dead sighed and shock her head.
"Whats up Dead?" Ditzy asked as she settled next to Dead in the spot Rainbow had been sat in. "Something on your mind?"
"The other necromancers, I can't see them." Dead nervously said. "The last thing you want to do it lose track of necromancers at your birthday party." Dead sighed. "I only hope they wait for the majority of ponies to leave."
"I see, well I hope it goes well for you Dead." Ditzy said happily as she leaned into Dead. "Have you seen much of Rarity?"
"No I haven't." Dead shook her head. "Has anypony here seen Rarity since we got up and danced?"
"I'm over here!" Rarity shouted from far left. "Just had to talk to somepony about a possible dress." Rarity chuckled happily as she came over. "Sometimes business never stops."
Rarity sat down next to Ditzy and sighed happily. Ditzy draped her wing over Rarity and gently pilled her in. Rarity gently muzzled Ditzy neck and all members of the love group sighed happily, except Rainbow who was snoring loudly. "This is nice." Cherilee sighed happily. "We should do this more often." The music had stopped and a lot of the ponies were leaving. A few minutes passed and soon it was only Dead, the necromancers, Twilight and her friends and the rest of the love group. For once, it was calm.
