Help Wanted, the bold letters said. Night Watch, a dark colored pegasus stared at the advertisement and munched his cereal. Today was another day for him to seek a job. He placed the bowl on the table and scratched his chin. He took a red marker and circled it. With the flip of the newspaper, he scowled. There weren’t anymore job applications.

“This is just it?” he asked himself, rummaging through the paper again. He sighed. “Well, might as well give it a try.”

He bit his lip, remembering what happened at his last job. “I hope I don’t become a cook or something,” he said, “It just isn’t my thing.”

Using his fingers, Night Watch tore up the advertisement and read it to himself. Freddie Frazzbear’s, he thought. He made a face. “Isn’t that the new pizza place?”

Help Wanted. Various positions open. Night Watch gave a small smile. “Yeah, I like that.” He searched for the address and quickly scribbled it down. 152 Haytowne Avenue

Hey, it’s not that far!

Night Watch looked out his small Manehattan apartment and watched the city bustle below. Princess Celestia’s sun was breaking the sky with her divine light. He opened the window and stuck his head outside. The cold breeze of morning made him shiver, but he could see Haytowne Avenue.

“So, this is the place,” Night Watch said, clutching his light jacket. The cold wind from the early afternoon sent a chill down his spine. The giant bear mascot, Freddie Frazzbear stood near the door, holding up a bright sign. Night Watch walked in, hitting a smell of pizza and laughter of children.

“Hey everyone!!” a goofy voice said with a chuckle, “I’m Freddie Frazzbear!” The bear gave a warm and happy smile and a friendly wave.

A group of costumed animals stood up on stage, giving happy greetings to the children. What looked like to be a bear, a bunny, and a bird sang onstage.

“Hi Freddie!” a crowd of young fillies and colts replied back.

Night Watch couldn’t help but smile at the cute scene. He then promptly looked around to see if he could apply. The atmosphere was joyous. It was happy. He just couldn't wait. The next thing he knew, he was sitting in an office.

“Hmm, yes,” a tan unicorn stallion said, looking down at a list. He sat behind a desk, and lifted up his glasses. “Uh, Night Watch was it?”

“Yes, sir.”

The unicorn took off his glasses. “What job are you interested in?”

“What?”

“Y’know, we’re giving you a number of choices to pick from,” the stallion said, making a gesture with his hand, “You follow?”

Night Watch nodded. “Yes, I follow, Mr. Frazzers.”

“Now,” the stallion said as he fixed his bow tie, “What are you in for?”

“A-Anything, sir,” Night Watch replied.

“Anything?”

“Anything.”

“Er, um, are you sure?” he asked, fidgeting a bit, “We do have an open position-”

“I’ll take it!” Night Watch exclaimed, jumping up to his hooves.

The door knocked, making Mr. Frazzers put his glasses back on. "Come in!" he said. A light brown stallion with a suit opened the door and stood next to Night Watch.

"Ah, Frazzer, I take you got my telegram?" he asked.

"Uh, yes! Of course Mr. Filthy Rich!" Mr. Frazzers replied.

Filthy Rich gave a smile. "Please, call me Rich. We're casual business partners after all."

"O-of course! Uh, Rich!"

"Good. You know the deal." Filthy Rich gave a look towards Night Watch. "Ah, you must be new here."

"Yes, sir, I am."

"Frazzers, I almost forgot something, " Filthy Rich said, turning towards him, "There's going to be somepony named Pinkie Pie arriving early. Treat her like me. Understood?"

"Yes," Mr. Frazzers replied.

Filthy Rich looked at Night Watch. "Welcome to Freddie's Frazzers Pizza restaurant, " he said, "And good luck. You'll need it."

“Mr. Rich, I’m here!!” a bright voice exclaimed from outside the room. Filthy Rich’s expression dropped.

“I should’ve told her to come tomorrow morning,” he said with a sigh, “Well, it’s a plus from her, I’ll give you that!”

The pony named Pinkie Pie stuck her head into the room. “Hello!” she greeted with a bright smile, “I’m Pinkie Pie!”

“Hi, Pinkie Pie,” Night Watch said weakly, giving a tiny wave.

“Uh, hello,” Mr. Frazzers said also, “You’re Pinkie Pie, correct?”

“Yep, that’s me!” she replied bombastically.

“So, this is for the party, isn’t it?” Mr. Frazzers asked, frantically shuffling papers in his desk.

The pink pony nodded. “I have most the supplies ready, so you’re all good!”

“Pinkie Pie here is just hosting the party,” Filthy Rich said, “I believe you can supply her with the necessities.”

“Y-Yes! Of course I can!” Mr. Frazzers said, holding up a stack of papers. He then faced Night Watch. “Um, please wait. We have to figure this out. J-Just wait in my office.”

Night Watch nodded. Filthy Rich and Mr. Frazzers walked out of the room. “Here,” Pinkie Pie said, putting a piece of candy in his hand. She gave a wink and stuck her tongue out. “I’ll see you around.”

Okay, you’re just going to be a security guard. For the night shift. Heh, get it? Since your name is Night Watch and this being the night shif- I-I’ll stop. Anyway, y’know, it’ll just be fine. It’ll be 12 AM through 6 AM. Also, I’m struggling to keep up with bills, so the lights are out. S-Sorry about that.

Nothing to it. Y-You’ll be good. J-Just don’t wander, okay? Anyway, here’s the key to the place.

Why I trust you? You just look like a trustworthy guy. Oh, and um, you’re free to eat the old pizzas and sodas. B-But please don’t wander, okay? I don’t even know why I told you that...

Night Watch held the small golden key in his fingers and then looked up at the restaurant. Freddie the Bear stared back with a gleeful smile. “Hello, Freddie,” he replied.

The skies were black, painted with the night. Princess Luna’s moon shone her light onto the dark world. The moonlight gave enough light for Night Watch to find the lock. He slid the key into the lock and turned it. With a click, he stepped inside and locked the door behind him.

Upon entering, Night Watch stared up at the long dark hallway. He got out an old Torch, given by Mr. Frazzers.

This is a Torch. It’s a simple flashlight that uses magic as power. I know you’re a pegasus, so just don’t overuse it, okay?

Night Watch looked down at the Torch and put it away. It was just the dark, nothing at all. Taking a few turns inside of the restaurant, Night Watch sighed and relaxed. He entered a small room where equipment was laid down.

Night Watch, this is my pride and joy. I’ve created remote cameras that takes live coverage of anyplace. Of course, with my, uh, budget cuts, the quality isn’t that good. It’s not much, but just pay close attention to them. Just remember that most things you see are just the camera, not you.

Night Watch stared at a fuzzy black and white screen where he could see the three animal buddies. It was something of Mr. Frazzer’s creation. It was quite wonderful in Night Watch’s opinion. A few levers moved and a button made a noise. He sat down at the squeaky chair and opened a bag. He took out a pouch of hay fries, a drink, and a burger. Night Watch sat back and sighed. The clock above clicked towards 12am.

“Here’s to the first night of a new job!”

Little did he know that the three heads of the animals looked straight at the camera.
