Night 1: First Night on the Job (Part 1)

Night Watch sat in his little room and boringly waited for the clock to click second by second. He clicked through the different cameras and sighed. He looked at the fan cooling him down and back to the screens.

“Boy, this is exciting,” he said, with a hand under his head. He stared at the screens and shuffled through them again.

The words cycled through. There was “Showstage”, where the three animals were shut down. “Dining Area”, the places where tables were set up for tomorrow. “Backstage”, where it was back of the Showstage. He went through the “Kitchen”, which only had audio for some reason. Then then went towards the “Restroom” cameras. Night Watch raised an eyebrow at this. A camera in the restroom? He shrugged and moved on to cycle it again.

The West and East Halls were desolate with nothing to show. However, he suddenly shifted to the Dining Area. A figure stood nearby the camera. He blinked, wanting to know if his eyes were playing tricks. He knew that someone was there. Night Shift threw a hay fry into his mouth, grabbed his Torch and set on out. He left the room, unknowing that a voice recording started to play.

Uh, hey Night Watch. It’s me! Sorry that you hear the message this way, but I wasn’t entirely truthful with you…

12:01 A.M

Night Watch hurriedly down the hall. His eyes started to adjust to the darkness, but it was just too dark to see. He stumbled around, waiting to use the torch until absolutely necessary. Night Watch grunted, feeling his groin collide with a table. Ooh, ouch, he thought to himself. He recovered quickly and rubbed his balls in the dark.

“Anyone there?” he called out, turning on his Torch. With a click, a bright white light went over the colorful table cloths and party hats. Night Watch’s light went over towards the head seat. It was much bigger than the others and looked more like a throne. A paper sat where the throne seat was.

Night Watch made way towards the paper and picked it up. “Reserved for Diamond Tiara,” he read out loud, oblivious of a small scuffle behind him. “Aw, what a cute name.” He set the paper back down. “Well, happy birthday Diamond,” Night Watch said cheerfully. He suddenly went on full alert and looked for the unknown figure.

“I know you’re there,” Night Watch said boldly, “Come out with your hands up.”

Nothing.

Could they be hiding from him? Night Watch observed everything around him and got nothing. Disappointed, he clicked the Torch off to only walk into the edge of the table again. Damn it.

12:05 A.M.

“I swore I saw something,” Night Watch said, unwrapping his hayburger. The wrapper made his hands greasy and sticky. Taking a bite, he placed his fingers where the fries would be and grasped nothing. He made a hurling sound with his mouth full, and shot a look the last place he placed the fries.

“What the hell?”

Night Watch looked underneath the table and above it. There was no sign of his precious hay fries anywhere. He took a vicious bite of the burger before frantically making a search. “Aw c’mon.”

He lifted up his hands in surrender and sat back in his seat. “This sucks.”

1:23 A.M.

Night Watch gave a long yawn and chapped his lips. “Gee, I wonder what’ll happen next.” He clicked through the video feeds over and over, hoping to see anything. He suddenly dawned upon himself that there was something called, ‘The Pirate Cove’. Night Watch rubbed his chin and nodded. “I can just check out that place. No harm in there.”

He wiped his greasy fingers on his pants and gripped the torch under his armpit. “Alrighty, towards the cove!”

Night Watch slowly made his way out with one hand on the wall to lead him into the dark. After some quick sharps and turns, Night Watch shone the light from his Torch. The Pirate Cove. An adventurous grin appeared on his face. “I hope there’s something worth my time in there.”

Before he could go in there, a loud clatter caught his attention. “Who’s there?!” he roared in a powerful voice. The unfaltering darkness replied with silence. He gave a tsk. “Are you toying with me?”

He walked towards the source of the noise and felt a soft cloth at his hooves. He got low and picked it up. Shining the Torch and feeling the fabric, he brought it to his nose and gave it a smell. He gave a gasp at such a wondrous scent. Like vanilla and butterscotch, the rich smell melted his mind. He held it up. It seemed to be some sort of white tank top. A small one too.

This has to belong to a girl, he thought to himself. However, upon closer inspection, he could smell something… salty. He took a quick sniff before placing his tongue on the top. Hay fries salt. His happy demeanor quickly changed into a disgruntled look.

“Oh, you’re going to fucking pay,” Night Watch said with a venomous tongue, “I know you did this,” he continued on with an icy breath.

His ears picked up a silent scream coming from beneath the table. He gave a devious smile. And then a sneer. Night Watch got on his rump with the Torch in one hand. Using his other hand to lift the cloth up, he shone his light onto a furry purple body.

“Crawl out with your hands on your head,” Night Watch ordered in an authoritative tone.

The figure whimpered and did so. Tiny hands gripped the back of the head, making Night Watch unable to get a proper look.

“Look up,” he said, shining the Torch around the small figure. It looked up and squinted into the light. Night Watch felt his heart jump and saw a pair of cute eyes stare up at him.

“P-Please don’t hurt me,” a female voice whispered from her.

Night Watch shone the light away from the girl’s face and got on a knee. “I-I won’t,” he said, “Uh, I-”

*THONK*

What Night Watch saw next was pure black.

“Did he hurt you?” a voice asked.

“N-No...”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes…”

Night Watch mumbled and tried to open his eyes. He fluttered them and opened them to see a yellow avian female and the purple girl. He stared at both of them, waiting for his brain to process information.

“Ugh,” he groaned, “That really hurt.”

“I’m sorry,” the avian said sheepishly, “I just overreacted.”

“Wait, what happened?”

“I hit you in the head,” the yellow bird said, “Hard.

“Oh,” Night Watch replied, “That really hurt.”

“I-I just don’t know my strength,” she said, “I hope you forgive me.”

“You’re forgiven, but I just have no idea what’s going on,” Night Watch said.

“First, let us introduce ourselves,” the bird said, “I’m Mallory Chica,” she said, pointing to herself, “You can just call me ‘Chica’.” Chica was a tall and beautiful blonde bird with enormous knockers. On her chest was a small bib that had, ‘Let’s Eat!!!’

“And this is Bonnie the Bunny,” Chica said, introducing her long eared friend. Bonnie gave a shy nod and looked down on the ground. She was a tiny purple rabbit female with a small bowtie on the base of her neck.

“Wait, y-you two are the animal gizmo things on the stage thing!” Night Watch said, “How are you moving?”

“We move on stage,” Chica said, moving her hips back and forth. She gave a funny look, “That surprised you?”

“No! I don’t mean by that!” Night Watch said, “You two are offstage, moving freely here!”

“Our father told us we can do that at night,” Chica said, crossing her wings, “Didn’t he tell you that?”

“Mr. Frazzer?”

“Yes, him.”

“He didn’t even tell me that.”

Chica frowned. But it turned into surprise. “Oh! You’re our new security guard, right?”

“Yes, that’s me.”

“You should’ve introduced yourself at closing time!” Chica said, “Why didn’t you?”

“Your, uh, father didn’t tell me anything about you guys,” Night Watch said.

Chica sighed. “He doesn’t want us to meet anyone. I wonder why...”

Night Watch caught a look from Bonnie, in which she quickly looked away. He then took notice of the white tank top she was now wearing. “Uh, Bonnie, did you take my hay fries?” he asked, feeling foolish to ask such a question.

The bunny turned red in the face and didn’t say anything. “You stole something from him?” Chica asked, placing her wings on her hips. “Bonnie!”

“S-Sorry…” she replied softly.

“N-No, it’s fine. I just wanted to close the case, that’s all,” Night Watch said. Then something struck across him. “Wait, aren’t you made of metal?”

“Yes, do you have a problem with that?” Chica asked.

“Uh, not at all! Just, um, what do you eat?”

“We don’t really eat, but we’re powered up by something called ‘electricity’,” Chica explained, “Father told me it’s expensive and something like that.”

Budget cuts…

“I’ll untie you right now,” Chica said, “It’s really hard to talk to you like this.”

“Huh?” Night Watch looked down to see party streamers knotted around him like a birthday present.

Chica giggled. “You look really cute like this.”

Night Watch blushed and struggled to get out of the ribbon prison. He moved side to side, muscling all his strength to break out. Chica walked over and tore off the fortified ribbons like it was nothing.

“Welcome to Freddie Frazzer’s Pizza!” she said cheerfully.

“Oh joy.”
