CRASH!
"Uhh..."
I woke up moaning and lying on the ground at the same time,not knowing what just happened. Fortunately, the wooden floor isn't that hard and cold,so i kind of suffered less from the crash landing i had,although I realized that this really shouldn't be what I'm worried about right now.
"holy crap...why does everything look so damn cartoonish? "I scratched my head,confused."It's like i'm on drugs or something."
As i was scratching my head, I felt like my hands are missing something, which it almost felt like i don't have any fingers.
I lifted my hand in front of my eyes, and I'm really scared by what i saw. my hands are just two round things in weird colors. I cussed in surprise, knocked it towards the floor to make sure i'm not tripping, and then i fell hard on the ground again. Wait, I can't stand on my legs! They somehow felt bent, but they were not broken either. what the hell is happening here?
I'm in a library of some sort, i guess. everything's so cartoonish and deformed i really cant tell much other than that.
The place looks like it was the interior of a carved tree. I can still smell the faint scent of oak wood inside her. Windows were carved to let enough sun shine in through it, so it would look all peaceful and stuff. The furnitures were weird too, it's so short that I dont think humans can reach without lying down on the ground.
Then there's this clopping noise, which almost sounded like a horse is trotting towards my direction.
"Wow...I can't believe it actually worked! I knew I was right all along."
I turned around, and i saw a purple...well,horse,with horns,and wings,talking.
A purple pony talking...? My brain hurts just by trying to figure out what's happening.
"I can't believe my fast traveling mirror worked!"She exclaimed.
she jumped up and down,up and down,for at least a full minute,before another horse came in with half of his face flattened and turned red,saying that she can't even get through the mirror or whatnot.
"What?!That's impossible...maybe my magic really can't support two of these simultaneously at this point."That purple unicorn mumbled,and then suddenly realizes that I am here for absolutely no reason.
"wait..."she walks towards me,then stares at me. Her stare's not really that effective though,or should i say not frightening at all, at least compared to my teacher's stare, but with eyes that kinda big, I guess I can't say i'm too calm at this point."...who ARE you exactly?"
"well...I'm not from around here actually...I am...well,WAS a human, if you know what i meant," I tried to explain to her. But The truth is, i don't know what is happening now either. From how i'm standing now, it looks like i'm one of them. How is that even possible? The last thing I remembered is that i was in my room doing some spreadsheet work. With my hands. MY FINGERS.
All this must be just a dream...but it feels way too real to be a dream. But still, this feels weird to be a reality. This place felt nice anyways, so i guess i ought to see how this goes before freaking out.
"Hmm...human?I think i heard that name before..."she looks away,thinks for a while, and comes up with something."Ah!I think i heard that when i'm at Canterlot high! You were those...well,who walks with two legs, am i right?"
"Right...you guess it."I reply."So, can i ask something? Why the hell am I here, and why the am I a horse with colors now??"
She chuckled a little bit."Hey! We're not horses, we're ponies. besides, you look just fine!Well, maybe except with the hair all messy."
"Well,I may look fine in here...but shouldn't even be here! I need to be back for tomorrow's school presentations!" I poked her stupid mirror that sent me here,"I came here using this mirror over here, right? I might as well just try to walk back in...."
"That's an idea, but I won't do it if I were you," She halted me."Well... You see, my magic is really unstable. The same field of magic may not be able to be created enough to sent you back from where you came! Maybe you'll go to somewhere way worse."
"Well, you had a point there,"I turned around ,facing the pony just stopped me from doing stupid stuff. "So what am i gonna do now, professor?"
"I need to seek princess Celestia's advice. She might know what to do."
"Well, do what you have to do, I guess..."
"There,there," she used her hoof to pat on my back."I'm sorry I can't get you back home right now. You can stay at the library all you want ! After all, it is me who get you in this mess."
"It's not like I have anywhere to stay anyways, so I guess."
I'm not sure about this, but either if it is just a dream or this is reality, this is still a good opportunity to escape from the boring life I had.
"I'm twilight sparkle." She lift her hoof, like she's gonna shake my hands."nice to meet you!"
What a weird name! But I assume that this is how everyone call themselves in here.
In response to her kindness,I also lifted my right Ha...Hoof so that both of them touches. Not really a handshake, but that's the closest we get in this place with ponies around that talks.
"...I'm Kenny, nice to meet you too."
Though I have no idea what is going on, I'll probably just need to wait and see how far this will get.
"Hey, Kenny?" Twilight yelled across the library."Will you come down to help me ?"
"Really?I thought Spike is your assistant, not me," I said, with a comic book on the ground in front of me."Besides,I can't really help right now, I'm busy."
Reading as a pony is really a pain, my hoofs cant barely flip the pages. It's almost like only ponies with magic can read these properly.
"Well, If he's here, I will probably ask him," She replies,then goes up the stairs, and took away the comic I'm watching.
"You can read this after you're done."
"What!" I yelled. "Can't you just let me finish those few pages?"
"It would only take a few minutes!" she said. "Pretty please?"
With she staring me into my eye socket, I really can't resist. I just can't stand girls do that.
"Okay, okay." I came here for 3 days and I already turned into some librarian. That's just so great.
"I have to clear out these books from the library. Can you help me find them? Just put it on the table over there after you're done. I need to find something else." she instructed. "it's just a few, it shouldn't take too long."
She handed over a list to me. Looks like those are the books need to be disposed.
" Hey! There's at least 30 books on this list! This would take forever with my... uh,hoofs."
" It will not take too long, i promise."
At the end, I still complied . Better do it quick than wasting time arguing about that.
Books in this library are really old, some of them have their covers rotting over time, no wonder they need to be thrown away.Most of the books feature something about magic and supernatural stuff too. Magic really do exists? I guess it is in this world.
It seems that Twilight have another list she needs to follow too, so i guess our work load is even.
As I'm finding books, I realized that nobody comes to the library to borrow, or even just read books here, and the red door that leads outside the library is shut tight. Isn't library is used to provide books for the public to borrow?
"Hmm, can I ask you a question?" I asked."Why is the library close off to others?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, From where i came from,libraries are open for public use."I pulled out a book and explained,"You know, people can borrow books from it."
"But the books will be lost or damaged that way! Besides, how can anypony ever keep track of the books once they are borrowed?"
"Can't you do that with magic?"
"Magic have their limits too, it would take up too much resource to manage even the most basic library in equestria." she continued."maybe ponies can ask me to lend them some books personally, but open it to all of ponyville is not really the best idea ever."
"Never mind then, I'm just curious." It seems that technology in this place are a lot less advanced around here. Perhaps I should shut up.
This place is actually pretty nice though, the ground floor is a small library, at least compared to the one i used to go to, but If this is where twilight lives, it may actually be pretty amazing.the scent of wood is refreshing enough to let me feel really, really good. A staircase leads to twilight's bed, and essentially where I sleep right now too, with telescope and stuff at the balcony.
I never thought a tree could be carved and used like this! I'm frankly amazed when I first arrived, and i'm still amazed by this place. How could ponies even build this?
Also, there's another staircase that leads to a basement. Not sure what's inside though.
"Hey, can't you focus on what you're doing now? It would be finished quicker that way."
And I got back to work.
An hour passed. I've done the thing Twilight asked me to do. Other than that, nothing productive was done that day.
That night, I lied down on the bed Twilight kindly provided, thinking about the world i originally came from. I bet my family would be more than happy to see me gone.
This town, or at least this very library, feels a lot more vivid and warm then the city i came from, where everything is just cold,grey concrete walls and shiny windows. I wonder what's the people's like in this place? Maybe I'll find out later.
