Lyra's skiing trip goes bad. Bad enough to get her a pet she never wanted and a bunch of responsibilities she was never prepared to handle.

Given the choice, few would resist the allure of keeping cold incarnate as their own personal servant; just for kicks, if nothing else.

Lyra would have counted herself as one of those select few. Too bad she doesn't get to choose when she crosses paths with a windigo who thinks otherwise.
