In the distant future, Equestria has died. The earth has been scoured clean of resources. The air is polluted and the land is burned by war. Only traces of ponykind are left, buried deep underground in the massive arcologies of the Arranged Restoration.

Four hundred years after the end of life on the surface, a new home for ponykind is discovered. The only problem is that it is already inhabited. The humans of the year 1081, already embroiled in the vast conflict known as the Crusades, are met by a new and hostile force. Though few in number, the ponies are far more advanced.

The pony who saved her kind once already is faced with with a new problem: What could it take to end the bloodshed, and bring peace to her species?
A human, caught between old and new loyalties, is faced with an impossible challenge: How can the ponies be made to respect human life when they fear for their own so greatly?
