Time passed slowly. The room was silent as a mouse, except for the tick tick tick of the grandcolt clock nearby.
The figure picked up the plush doll slowly and examined it, seeming to be inspective every crease and crevice of the plush's fur, mane, tail, and hooves. The figure shook its head and said something muffled by its strange voice as it opened a small silver case of which it took out a small pair of scissors. A bright cerise color surrounded the scissors as it slowly levitated to the plush pony. The scissors cut a clean line in the pony doll's stomach. The figure then began to pull out the mane and tail using the scissors and some other tools. The small unsure smile of the doll was cut open and the black button eyes were taken off of the doll.
The figure finally took the puffy white stuffing out, leaving it nothing more than a droopy pale pink bag. Slowly, the figure filled up the doll with sand of a black color. It then stitched up the stomach opening, sewed the mouth into a happy smile, painted it bright purple, rerooted a mane of navy blue and bright pink into its mane and tail, painted an etiquette sparkle emblem on its flank and sewed two button eyes on each side of the doll's head. The doll was let go of and even though it looked heavy, the doll flew from the figure's hooves into a night-like abyss outside of the sewing center. It floated away, never to return.

Twilight Sparkle exited the cottage as her horn shot sparks. She found a peculiar patch of blue flowers which excited Twilight. She had found the plant she was looking for! She used her hooves to uproot a bunch of the flowers and crouched down, working hard, using her horn to levitate the plant as she broke off the stem with her hooves. After a few minutes, she had crafted a rod-like fixture out of the stem with the petals of the flower attached to the side. "I'll call it my Sparkler Rod." cheered Twilight as she levitated the plant with her magic, shutting her eyes and letting the "magic" of the rod "guide" her to a place she expected to be where she'd find her true calling. She began to travel into the forest when she heard a rumbling sound. Her eyes shot open and she grew nervous.
"Who's there?" she asked nervously.
No answer. She grabbed a rock and threw it at where she heard the rumble only to be met with an injured "hoo" which frightened Twilight. She began to run away, worried, when she was met face to face with what she had hit, a slightly injured, slightly angry, flying owl. His flying had been slightly impaired from the rock hitting its wings, but it still kept itself in air.
"Hoo, hoo, hoo..." It said wistfully as it began to peck Twilight's forehead rapidly.
"Ow, ow! Get away, you stupid bird!" screamed Twilight as she tried to bat away the owl with her sparkler rod. This only seemed to anger it more, as it pecked faster. She tackled it to the ground and was about to attack when she heard hoofsteps. Afraid, she slowly turned around to be met with another pony.
The pony had a bright pink coat that was slightly messy with bits and pieces of rocks and dirt stuck in her hooves and flack. Her mane was a darker pink and one side covered her left eye. She was breathing heavily, and Twilight was so scared that she let out a scream.
The pony began to laugh. However, the laugh wasn't a evil laugh or a malicious laugh. It was a happy laugh, a giggle, a silly laugh. Them, without warning, the mare's dark pink hair sprung up into a bubbly puffy mane style, revealing her cyan colored eyes.
"Why are you so scared, silly-billy?" the mare said happily in a loud, bubbly tone.
"Y-you scared me to death, that's why I'm scared, you, y-you....scary mare!"
The pink mare ignored Twilight's comment and grabbed the sparkler rod from her, which had dropped to Twilight's hooves when she screamed.
"A sparkler rod, huh? You from Manehatten?"
"Come again?"
"No? How about Detrot? Or Fillydelphia? Perhaps even-"
"No. I'm from Canterlot, actually."
"That's what I was going to say, silly-billy!" The pink mare giggled.
"Don't call me that. My name is Twilight Sparkle."
"Twilight Sparkle? Like, is that why you got the sparkler rod? Wow! That's so cool!"
Twilight sighed. "Actually, it's-"
"Anyway," sang the pink pony, "I'm Pinkie Pie."
"Er...Pinkie Pie?"
"Well, my full name is Pinkamena Diane Pie," explained Pinkie with a outstretched grin, "but Pinkie sound so much more fun!" Pinkie giggled.
Twilight took the rod back from Pinkie and sighed once again. "Anyway, I have to go."
"Okie-dokie-lokey! But one more thing! Next time you use your sparkler rod thingy, you should wear gloves when you handle it with your hooves."
"And why is that?"
"Because it's poison joke, silly-billy!" Pinkie then bounced off.
Twilight gasped and dropped the sparkler rod in fear. She began wiping her hooves on some rocks hoping to get it off.
"Hoo-hoo-hoo." Twilight whirled around to see the owl whistling thoughtfully at her.
"Shut up." growled Twilight as she galloped home.
Twilight Sparkle sighed as she entered the worn cottage she and her family lived in, her hoof starting to feel sore. She'd have to inspect it later though. Twilight sighed. "Guess it's time to play "try to get my paren't attention"! Yaaaaaay...." she cheered sarcastically.
"Hey mom, hey dad."
Her mother, Twilight Velvet, was working furiously, feather pen alit with cerise aura, writing as delicately and fancy as the poor adult mare could muster. She was so busy that all she could do was nod in response to her daughter. Her eyes narrowed, sweat pouting down her forehead, white and purple mane and tail stuck to her coat like glue, Twilight Sparkle's mother was a busy mare, leaving her no time to spend with her child. She had taken up a somewhat-good-paying job as a writer for the notification scrolls given to the announcer mares and colts,so they could either tell the world themselves or submit to the newspaper, leaving Twilight Velvet either outside gathering news to write or writing. Twilight Sparkle had once asked Twilight Velvet if she could take a day off to spend some time with her daughter, but what she got was a grimace and a scolding.
"Twilight Sparkle, you know clearly well how much we need the money to survive in this place. You are very lucky that you go the school, or even live in a house. I cannot afford to spend any time with you today."
is what she had told her that day. It was also what was told to Twilight Sparkle the next day. And the next day.
Her father, Night Light, was slouching on a wooden chair, head in his hooves. He had bags under his eyes and was practically falling asleep. Twilight guessed that he didn't hear her and sighed reluctantly. It was going to be another one of those days.
