It was a beautiful day in Canterlot, Equestria. The Royal Sisters, Princess Luna and Celestia, were sitting in their throne room talking of their duties when a unicorn Royal Guard came galloping in.
“Your Highnesses! There has been a pony in the papers!” he said.
“And what would be so special about that?” Princess Luna asked; if this was a joke, she was not amused.
“See for yourself,” the guard said as he levitated a newspaper towards the two sisters.
As Princess Celestia took the paper with her magic, she and Luna read the big bold headlines that said:
CANTERLOT COLT CALLS HIMSELF “THE LUNAR SON”!
“But why...?” Luna asked Celestia, but she was out of words.
“Keep reading and you will see,” the guard said. As the Royal Sisters read on the newspaper said:
In the Canterlot Hospital, at approximately 12 midnight on October 31, an earth pony mare gave birth to a baby alicorn colt. The father is a unicorn, and neither the father nor the mother have any relation to any alicorn whatsoever. This mysterious phenomenon baffled doctors throughout the hospital, as well as nurses and even other patients! Nopony knows what to become of this, whether it is a good omen or a threat to Equestria. All family related to the foal and his parents are dead or missing. There are so many questions to be answered! How will the Royal Sisters react to another alicorn existing in Equestria? What actions will they take? How did this even happen? Nebula, the colt’s father, says, “I have no idea how this happened. I thought we were giving birth to a healthy baby UNICORN. But at least he’s healthy and safe, along with his mother. And with that I’m happy.”
Now, a decade later, the young colt calls himself the “Lunar Son”, and refuses to call his parents “mom” and “dad”. According to his mother, Stars, he favors the Princess Luna, saying, “She understands me. I understand her. I’m her son, the Lunar Son, and I can prove it.”
“Oh my,” Princess Celestia said. She was indeed shocked.
She gained a serious look on her face.
“We must bring him to the castle immediately,” Princess Celestia said. She turned to the Royal Guard, who still stood there loyally.
“Guard! Are you able to track these ponies down and bring them here?”
“Yes, your Highness!” the guard said. The guard galloped away to inform his fellow soldiers of the orders given.
“For now we'll just have to wait,” Celestia said to her younger sister, looking over to see her shocked and worried face as she looked at the paper in disbelief.
