Author's Note

Sorry it is so short after so long a wait. There was more to this chapter that was moved to the next one to save time and get this out now.

Chapter 5: Questions

Ouch. Well then. That was unexpected. I was trying to break through the shield that pony put up when I get shot in the back by something. I turn around and see another Alicorn. This one is black and seems to fire black energy. This is a problem; the magic that these ponies use falls under the visible light spectrum. This one's, however, is black. No light at all. The light's energy is dissipated when it hits me so it can't do as much damage. Because this one has black energy it will hurt more. I may be immortal but I still feel pain. That rainbow beam that hit me was odd too.

Now that I think about it, the king doesn't seem like the king. Wait! You got to be kidding me! How did I not see this sooner? Thousands of years alone. Thousands! How could I expect the King to still be alive. I escape my prison and attack the first thing I see. Now I have this Black Alicorn to fight. Actually, now that I think of it. She looks dark blue. She also looks very angry. Ok. Maybe I can talk this out. "Hey! Um, listen. Sorry about this. I'm a bit confused at the moment. Can we not fight so I can explain?"

"No."

She then fires another blast of black energy at me; not that hard to dodge. "Seriously, stop for a second. I think I made a mistake."

"The only mistake you made was coming here!"

She fires another blast at me; hitting my arm this time. "Ok, you want to do this the hard way? FINE!" I fire a beam of light straight at her. She didn't even have time to try to evade before it hit her; knocking her out of the sky. She recovers before she hits the ground though. I shoot straight down at her, reforming my sword of light and forming my armor. Once close enough, I slash at her. Lucky for her, she pulls up a shield of magic before I can lob her head off.

She forms her own blade of darkness and the duel commences. Slash for slash, blow for blow. The only reason she is lasting as long as she is would be that I was trapped in a box; and having to constantly be mindful of the hypnotic beam of rainbows they are shooting at me. I don't know what it does, but I don't like it. I am still getting the upper hand in this. I turn my shield and sword into a massive war hammer; and swing it downward at her with all the force I can. Her shield shatters and she is stunned long enough for me to follow up by continuing the swing till it comes back around with even more force than the first hit.

I watch her plummet to the ground but get hit with another blast of magic. The rainbow colors surround me and I... I, I'm having trouble thinking. The light shouldn't be causing me harm... but it's so concentrated and powerful... I'm having difficulty staying in the air. Looking below me is that box again; they will try to put me back in. Won't they? NO, I will not let them. I use my power to absorb the energy of the beam; powering myself with it. It's so much... it's hard to absorb... but I let the energy flow through me; boosting my power higher than I have felt in ages. I smirk. "This is gonna be good."
