Chapters Hello, the name's Robert. I'm 17 years old, I'm African American, I live with my parents and little brother, and I have never been more confused in my life right now. I should probably start from the beginning.
It was well into the late afternoon. I was walking home from school, listening to some music that was playing on my phone, when I noticed the clouds started rolling in and the winds picked up and rain came pouring down. I was forced to pick up the pace into a full-on sprint. After a few good minutes of running I made it home.
"Mom, dad I'm home," I said as I opened the door. "What's for dinner?"
The house was quiet, usually there would be the sound of the TV blaring as my brother and dad would sit in front of watching sports or the latest episode of their favorite show. I walked into the kitchen where there was a note sitting on the counter. It read:
Dear Robert,
We'll be gone for a few hours. There's food in the fridge in case you get hungry. Don't worry about your brother he's staying at his friend's house.
Love, Your Mom & Dad
"Cool, I got the house to myself," I said as I smirked.
After reading the note, I crumpled it and threw into the trash. I then got the food out of the fridge and put the plate in the microwave to warm it up. Once, I finished my dinner I went up to my room to get started on my homework.
"Ok, time to get started," I said as I pulled out my work.
After thirty minutes of doing homework, I finally finished. I leaned back in my chair and sighed in relief as the burden of doing homework was lifted from my shoulders. I then went down to the family room to watch some TV. After a few minutes of watching TV, I got bored and decided to go to bed.
Suddenly, a swirling vortex appeared out of nowhere and some unknown force was pulling me towards it. I clawed at the floor as I desperately tried to get away. After a few seconds of resistance, I finally gave in to the mysterious force and let myself get dragged into the vortex.

Twilight's POV
I was on the balcony of my home looking at the stars, when suddenly a portal opened in the sky and a strange object came shooting out and land somewhere in the everfree forest.
"Sweet Celestia, what was that?" I asked.
I hurried back inside to where I saw spike was moving around.
"Hey Twilight," he said in a panicked tone. "What was that loud boom?"
"I don't know what that was. I was just about to go see what was that I saw in my telescope," I said,
As, I made my way to the door and opened it I was met with the gazes of my friends. It looked like they had just woken up.
"Did you see the light in the sky?" I asked them.
"Well, I didn't but the noise woke me up," Rarity said.
"I saw it as well, the noise startled all my animals," Fluttershy said.
"I was just about to go check it out. Do you want to come?" I asked. "Spike, I want you to send a letter to Princess Celestia, telling her about the light in the sky and how my friends and I are going to check it out. And if possible join us just in case this turns out to be a threat to all of Equestria."
With that said we hurried out the door and towards the everfree forest. When we got to the crash site my jaw dropped at the sight before me. There was a huge crater in front of us, towards the center of the crater there was a sphere of golden aura just floating in the center hovering stationary.
Then there was a flash of light that occurred in front of and suddenly Princess Celestia was standing there looking at me and my friends.
"I came as soon as I got the letter, whatever this we will face this together" she said.
"Right," we all agreed.
As, we made our way down to the center the orb began to pulsate a low hum as it began to shine brighter. This caused me and my friends to get into a defensive stance. But then strangely something happened the orb shine brightly for one last time. It was so bright we all had to cover our eyes. Then when the light subsided, the unconscious form of a weird bipedal creature took the orb's place.
"What is that thing?" Rainbow Dash asked while slowly inching towards.
"I don't know, but there is something strange about it," Princess Celestia,
Then out of nowhere we hear a groan come from it.
Robert's POV
The first thing on my mind when I wake up is how much my head hurts. The good thing is that I'm alive and that vortex didn't kill me. I groan as I sit up and notice that I was in a forest, upon closer inspection I noticed seven horses looking at me. Two unicorns, two pegasuses, two regular horses, and one winged unicorn. Then the tall, white, winged unicorn does something that completely blows my mind. It speaks!!!
"Hello there, my name is Princess Celestia, I personally welcome you to Equestria," it says in a regal tone of voice.
I looked at her with confusion. Then after a few seconds of uncomfortable silence, the small purple unicorn walked towards me.
"Hi, my name is Twilight Sparkle. May I ask what your name is?" the purple one said.
"Uh, Twilight? Ah don't think it knows how to speak," the orange one said.
"Maybe I can get through to it?" asked the yellow one, but the tone was barely above a whisper.
"Something seems off about it, and it's certainly not its fashion sense" the white one said, while looking like she was about to faint.
"Who know's it could be violent," the blue one said.
"Do you think it likes parties?" the pink one, who looked she was on an indefinite sugar rush, said.
I still stood there blinking like an idiot for the past minute, before I pinched myself in the arm to see if I was dreaming. When that didn't work I braced myself as I punched myself in the side, to which the seven horses looked at me confused. After coming to terms that this was actually real. I did what any person in my position would do. I freaked out and passed out like a wuss.
Introduction to Equestria
When I woke up I noticed that I was in a hospital room. I sat up and looked around the room and saw the same seven horses from before all sitting around looking at me as if I was the most interesting thing in the world. Then the tall white one looked over towards my direction. So, it wasn't a dream. Great I'm stuck in a world full of talking ponies
"Oh, you're awake," she said gaining the attention of everyone in the room.
"I was afraid it wasn't going to wake," the yellow pegasus said.
"Hey, for your information I'm not an 'it' I'm a he and second of all who are you?," I asked.
The look on their faces were priceless. The purple unicorn looked at me with eyes widen and jaw almost to the floor.
"Y-you can talk?" she asked slightly surprised.
"Well, of course I can talk," I said in slight annoyance, "What? Did you think I was some kind of mindless animal?"
"I did," the blue pegasus said,
"Whatever, back to the question who and what are you?" I asked.
"My name is Twilight Sparkle," the purple one said.
"The name's Rainbow Dash, the fastest flier in Equestria and future Wonderbolts member," the blue one said confidently.
"Rarity, charmed I'm sure," the small white one said.
"Ah'm Applejack, but my friends call me AJ," the orange one said.
"Hi, my name's Pinkie Pie. Do you like parties, speaking of parties I should get started on your 'Welcome to Equestria' party," the pink one said as she zoomed out of the room.
"What just happened," I asked as I stared out the door with one of the most confused look on my face.
"Oh, don't mind her," Twilight said, "That's just Pinkie being Pinkie."
I looked to the yellow one behind the others. She seemed to be trying to hide behind her light pink mane.
"Oh, I'm sorry I didn't catch your name," I said.
"My name's Fluttershy," she said so low I wasn't able to hear her.
After a few attempts I finally got her name. It was then I decided to get down to business and ask the serious questions.
"Okay, so where exactly am I," I asked.
"You're in Equestria. To be more specific Ponyville Hospital, we brought you here after you fainted," Twilight explained.
I sheepishly chuckle while scratching the back of my head. "Well, it wasn't my fault horses don't really talk where I come from," I said.
"First of all we're not horses, we are ponies and second of all who are you, what are you, and where do you come from" Twilight asked to everyone's curiosity.
"Well, my name is Robert. I'm a human and I come from the planet Earth." I said.
"So you're an alien?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"I guess," I said with slight uncertainty.
After pondering my situation for a little bit the tall one in the back steps forward.
"I want to know if you might be a potential threat," she asked with an stern look in her face.
"No I'm not a threat, the last thing I need right now is enemies," I said waving my hands in front of me.
"Good, now if you excuse me, I must be returning to Canterlot," she said as she disappeared in a flash of light.
"How did she do that?" I asked pointing at the spot where she just was.
"Magic," answered Twilight.
"Yeah right, seriously how did she do that," I asked, "Is she some kind of Nightcrawler?"
"No, she's the princess of the sun and by the way what's a nightcrawler?" replied Applejack.
"What, you don't have magic where you come from?"
"No, magic doesn't exist on Earth," I said casually.
Then everyone, excluding me, gasped and looked at me in horror.
"How were your species able to survive without magic?" Rarity asked.
"How were you able to control the weather?" Rainbow Dash exclaimed.
"Easy, we made up for that stuff in technology," I said. "Can I go now or am I gonna spend the rest of my life in this room?"
"Oh yeah, that's right," Twilight said, "We should probably work out some living arrangement for you. I guess he could stay with me for the mean time."
"I'm fine wherever," I said.
Twilight nodded as I got out of bed. I stood up and stretched until I heard a few pops and sighed in relief. As I was walked out the hospital it seemed as if everything in the world stopped as I found all eyes on me.
"What's up," I said as I waved to the crowd of ponies with a smile on my face, trying to not to freak them out which is hard considering I stand three feet taller than them.
"It's a monster," I heard one of them say, "Everypony run for your lives!"
Just as soon as that was said all the ponies in the area ran away, leaving me to question what just happened.
"So much for being welcomed with open arms," I deadpanned.
"Oh, don't worry about sugarcube," AJ said, "Ah'm sure if you give them some time they'll warm up to you eventually."
"That's a pretty big assumption," I said with a frown. "Well whatever, can we please just get going already before they come back with pitchforks and torches."
"Alright, we're not that far from my house," Twilight said.
After a few minutes of walking we finally made it to Twilight's house which surprisingly is a tree. Now, that is a disaster just waiting to happen,
When we got inside I heard scuffling from upstairs.
"Twilight is that you?" I heard a voice speak.
"Yeah Spike, and I've brought company. I want you to come down and meet him," Twilight replied.
"I'm coming," the voice, now identified as Spike came down and stopped in his tracks when he saw me. "Twilight? What is that?"
"Spike, say hello to Robert," Twilight said, "He'll be staying with us for a while."
"Hello, my name is Robert," I said as I held out my hand.
"I'm Spike. Twilight's number one assistant," Spike said taking my hand and giving it a good shake.
"Nice to meet you," I said.
"Likewise," he said.
"Well, this has been fun, but I should be heading home now," said Applejack, "It was nice meeting you Robert."
"Yeah, I should get going as well," Rainbow Dash said as she zipped out of the room leaving a rainbow trail.
"I should go see if my animals are alright," Fluttershy said.
And one by one they each left leaving me, Twilight, and Spike standing in the middle of the room.
"So," I started, "What to do now?"
Suddenly, a stack of paper landed in front of me and Twilight levitated a feather with her magic and dipped it in ink. I swear this magic stuff is going to be the one to drive me off the deep end.
"I want to know all about you and your world," she said with a smile on her face.
My Tour of Ponyville (pt. 1)
This Q&A session has been going on for what seemed like eternity. I take a look at the sky, that was now turning into late afternoon. I yawned as I stretched out my limbs feeling numbness slowly starting to spread over them.
"Ok," Twilight said as she rolled up the one thousandth scroll about the entire human race, how I knew about that when my grade in history was usually around the 60% to 70% range is beyond. "Now that we got your world's history out of the way, I want to know about you."
"Why would you want to know about me," I asked.
"I like to know all about my friends. Their likes, dislikes, favorite foods. Stuff like that," she said with a straight face.
"Really, you think of me as a friend already?" I asked.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I?" she said with an eyebrow raised, "As long as you don't give me a reason not to. I like to think of everypony I meet as a potential friend."
"Wow, that really means a lot Twilight," I said with a small smile adorning my face, "So, what do you want to know?"
"For starters, what's your favorite color?" Twilight asked.
"Personally, I always liked the color red," I said with a shrug of a shoulder.
"What's your favorite food," Twilight asked.
"I have long list of foods and we really don't have the time to go through every single one," I said while pointing my thumb at the window, which showed the sun setting.
"Oh wow, I didn't it had gotten that late," Twilight said.
"Yeah, if it's alright with you I'll just crash one the couch," I said as I started to make my way towards the couch. "Good night, Twilight."
"Good night Robert," she said as she was making her way up the stairs. "See you in the morning."
***
I awoke to the smell of something good being made in the kitchen. As I got up from the couch, I walked into the kitchen and saw spike at the stove cooking what looked like pancakes along with other varieties.
"Yo, morning spike," I said as I came in.
"Morning," he said. "Did you sleep alright?"
"Like a baby," I said with a chuckle.
"That's good to hear," Spike said.
After a few minutes of waiting for breakfast to be done. I noticed Twilight coming down the stairs.
"Morning Twilight," Spike said.
"Good morning," she said as she pulled a chair up to the table.
"How did you sleep?" I asked as I walked to the table and was about to sit down when I noticed the chairs were a little low to the ground. So I just moved it and sat on the floor and even then I was still able to be slightly taller than the table.
"I slept alright," she said.
"Alright, breakfast is ready," Spike said as he passed out the plates.
"Thanks," I said as I got ready to dig in, but then I noticed Spike didn't have a plate.
"Spike, bro. Are you going to eat anything?" I said.
"Yeah," he said as he pulls out a bag full of gems, rubies, and other stuff like that. "I have a bag of my favorite gems right here."
I take a look at the bag, and my eyes widen as he pops one of them in his mouth and crunches on them as if they were hard candy.
"Hey, can I see one of those?" I ask pointing to the bag.
He looks to the bag and then to me, the look on his face says that he is hesitant about giving me one of his gems.
"Come one Spike," Twilight said, "It wouldn't hurt to give him one, would it?"
He sighs as he hands me a gem. I inspect it and I knocked on the table and sure enough it was hard as a rock, if not harder. There is just no way that he has the jaw strength to crush a ruby.
"How can you eat this stuff," I ask, "Wouldn't your teeth be shattered on contact?"
"Well, it's a known fact that dragons love to eat gems," Spike said.
Almost instantly my jaw drops.
"Wait a minute, you mean to tell me that you're a dragon?!" I said pointing at him.
"Yeah, I am," Spike said and as proof he blew green fire from his mouth.
"Wow, that's pretty cool," I said with a smirk on my face.
"Robert, don't forget I'm taking on a tour around ponyville," Twilight said.
"Why," I ask as I eat another spoonful of my breakfast.
"So, that you'll get a lay of the land and so the ponies here will get used to you," Twilight says with a smile.
"I don't think so," I deadpanned, "Did you see how they reacted to me yesterday? I wouldn't exactly call that open arms."
"Well, this is so stuff like that doesn't happen again," she says.
"Whatever you say," I agreed. "It's better than sitting around doing nothing."
After eating breakfast, I gather me and Twilight's plates and before I could get started on washing the dishes I'm stopped by Spike saying that he had this under control. So, I shrug and head out the door with Twilight behind me only to be met by the stares of almost everyone outside.
"Uh, hi" I say as I raise up a hand and waved to the crowd, "My name is Robert Thomas and, yes, I know I look pretty weird to you but I promise you I am in no way, shape, or form a threat."
"Sweet Celestia!" I heard one of them say. "It spoke."
Then suddenly the mare that said that fainted. Leaving me baffled I looked down to Twilight and say:
"Was it something I said?"
My Tour of Ponyville (pt. 2)
All in all, the tour wasn't that bad. After the freak episode Twilight was able to calm down the residents and explain to them that I wasn't a monster or a threat and they sighed in relief knowing that I wasn't dangerous; they apologized and went about their business. We then spent the next few minutes walking around the place, Twilight was showing me places to eat, buy clothes, stuff like that. It was then we came upon a building that looked like it had been ripped from out of the story of Hansel & Gretel. I stop and look at it with a confused look on my face, Twilight must have noticed since she was now heading towards the direction of the building.
"What is this place," I asked as we walk in through the front doors.
"Welcome to Sugarcube corner," Twilight said with a smile on her face. "It's one of, if not the best bakery in ponyville. It's the place where Pinkie works."
Almost as if on cue the pink mare shows up in front of us. Startling both me and Twilight to a near heart attack.
"Hey guys," Pinkie said, "How's it going?"
"I could do without the heart attack," I said as I tried to calm my beating heart. "Is she always like this?"
"Yes, and Pinkie we are here for some food," Twilight said.
"Ok, I'll have them right out in a jiffy," Pinkie said as she zoomed into the kitchen and back out with a tray full of assorted cupcakes.
"Wait... how... huh?" I stammered, "You know what, I'm too hungry to know how you did that."
First thing you should know about me is that I don't have that much of a sweet tooth, so I don't eat such sweets like cake and cupcakes very often. So, I shrugged my shoulder and I grabbed one of the cupcakes and took a bite out of it and the moment it hit my tongue my taste buds felt like heaven. I let out a heavy sigh before devouring the one in my hand and several more that were on the tray.
"Whoa, slow down," Twilight said, "You'll get sick if you keep eating this fast."
"I'm sorry. It's just that I've never had anything that tastes this good before," I said with a mouthful of cupcakes. This is the best cupcakes EVER! I should start eating these more often.
"I'm so glad to hear you say that," Pinkie said. "Can I get you anything else?"
"Yeah, some more of the delicious cupcakes please," I said.
"Coming right up," Pinkie said.
A few seconds later she came out with a box filled with a dozen cupcakes. We said our thanks and were out the door.
"So, what's next on the agenda Twilight," I asked as I stuffed my face with yet another cupcake.
"We should probably go to carousel boutique to get you fitted for some clothes," Twilight said, "I don't think you want to go on wearing the same thing."
"I guess so," I agreed, knowing that my clothes were starting to smell a little ripe after being worn two days in a row.
So, we made our way to carousel boutique, wherever that is.
***
My jaw dropped the moment we arrived at the place Twilight was talking about. It was like someone made this place as fancy as they could. When we got inside I saw Rarity working on what looked like a dress fit for a queen. She turned around and looked at Twilight and me as we stood there for a good amount of time.
“Twilight and Robert,” she said as she made her towards us. “What can I do for you?”
“I sort of, kind of, need new clothes and I was wondering if you could make some,” I explained.
“I wouldn’t mind making you some new for you,” Rarity said, “Just follow me and I’ll get your measurements.”
I followed Rarity into a room where she instructed me to stand still while she took my measurements. After a few minutes of standing still and having a measuring tape wrapped around me tighter than a boa constrictor, we were finally done and on our way out the door.
“Thanks Rarity,” I said, “When can I pay you back?”
“Oh, don’t you worry about a thing darling,” Rarity said as she waved goodbye. “I should have your clothes ready for you in a few days.”
“Alright then,” Twilight said, “We should get going, there’s still a lot of ground we haven’t covered.”
“See you later,” I said, waving goodbye.
After the visit at Rarity’s, Twilight and I made our way to a farm called Sweet Apple Acres. And there was only one thing on my mind. Sadly, I accidentally voiced what I was thinking.
“Goddamn, that’s a lot of apple trees,” I said as I look at the fields in awe of how many trees there were. “It must be tough managing this many apple trees.”
“Well, Ah’ll tell ya this; it ain’t easy,” Applejack said as she walked up to us. “Howdy Twilight, Robert. What are y’all doing here?”
“Twilight thought it was a good idea to take me on a tour around ponyville. So, that I won’t be wandering around like a lost puppy,” I explained while Twilight nodded in agreement.
“Well that sounds like a swell idea,” Applejack said, “Well if you excuse me. I need to get back to work.”
“Wait a minute, I don’t mean to upset you or anything but how do you pick the apples of the trees, what with no hands and everything.” I ask as I watch Applejack go to one of the trees and place baskets around the tree.
“That’s easy we buck the trees so hard that they fall out,” she as she kicked the tree and all of them fell into the bucket. “Would you like to try, sugarcube?”
“I guess I'll give it a shot,” I said as I walked up to a random tree, "It can't be that hard."
I looked at the tree and took a deep breath. "Here goes nothing."
I kicked the tree with all I had, but what happened next was something I never saw coming. The moment my foot made contact with a golden aura surrounded me and the tree fell taking several others with it. I looked back at Applejack only to see a look of confusion and shock just before the look then turns to pure unadulterated anger as she now stare daggers at me.
"Well would you look at that, we should really get going it was great seeing you," I said quickly as I grabbed Twilight and zoomed out of there.
"Get back here," Applejack shouted as she chased after us. "You're gonna help replant every tree that you knocked down."
She chased me down and eventually caught me and made me spend the rest of the day replanting the trees. It was late in the afternoon when I finally finished and said goodbye to Applejack. It was nighttime when we got back to Twilight's house and the moment we walked in Spike came running down the stairs with a scroll in his hand.
"Twilight, this came for you earlier today," he said as he handed the letter to Twilight.
Twilight grabs a hold of the with her magic and brings it up to her face as she silently reads it.
"So, what does it say," I ask.
"It says that Princess Celestia wants to have a meeting with you and she asked if you could come some time tomorrow," she explained.
"That's great," I said, "Now if you don't mind, I'm going to sleep. Wake me up sometime next month."
"Alright, good night," Twilight said as she and Spike headed up stairs to go to bed.
"Well, today was an interesting day," I said as I walked over to the couch and lay down. "I wonder what tomorrow might hold, can't possibly be worst than today can it?"
...
...
Well I just jinxed myself , I thought as I drifted off into sleep.
