Time was slowly ticking by. One day had already passed, now that gave them two to solve this mystery. Shawn had made the promise to not leave until this was over. But now he wished he hadn't said that. While he and his dad has their clashes he was still family, and then there was Juliet, he had met the girl of his dreams and finally got her even if everything was nearly destroyed when she found out he wasn't psychic. But now he still had her, and he had left without noticed, he didn't know what she was doing, he didn't know if she figured this was just another one of those cases that can take him out of town or simply he went missing. All he could do was hope that she was doing fine and so he did. By the time they had supplies for the trip out into the Everfree it was already ten in the morning, they had hoped to leave sooner but the all had overslept from the late night they had, and the sugar crash only had them under for a few minutes. Now here it was, in front of them laid the Everfree, a mystery by itself, more dangerous than a war zone probably, and uncharted, they had brought along enough food for five days to make sure they had ample, ropes, fresh water, tents, sleeping bags, cooking utensils, means of starting fires, and a compass for everyone on the trip. But they also were being followed and they didn't know it. Three fillies going against what they were told, Applebloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle decided they were not going to sit idly by when there were increasingly more ponies going missing. And so they followed, keeping quit so they would not be noticed and staying at a distance so they could just barely make them out. They had been traveling in silence for most of the trip, Gus was the finally the one to speak.

"Does anyone else get the feeling we're being followed?"

Applejack was the first to respond, "the Everfree will do that to you. Ya never know if its a Timber wolf or just the forest playing tricks."

Her reply was followed by Twilight's, "this is a part of the forest we have never explored, now we easily could get lost, luckily the path had been heading in a westerly direction, so we can make a guess it continued that direction."

Gus looked like he wished he hadn't let Shawn talk him into going back. Shawn was pondering the possibilities figuring out if the kidnapper had continued in the expected direction or if he or she had made a turn somewhere and they now were going where they shouldn't. But still they continued on, finally seeing something. But from their point of view not much was seen. So I'll give the rest of this from the Crusaders' side.

"Scootaloo do you see that pony," questioned Sweetie Belle.

"Yes I do. That looks like Flitter."

"I thought she was one of the missing ponies, could she perhaps be the one responsible?"

"Flitter? No, there is no way she is doing this."

But Scootaloo was right and wrong at the same time as they watched Flitter sneak up behind the group of humans and ponies. As they followed they noticed a few more ponies, the one who had gone missing, now there was Flitter, Filthy Rich, Diamond Tiara, and Blossomforth were there. They watched as they slowly got closer and closer, but they noticed something, there eyes were all glowing green. They knew what Twilight had told them before, if somepony's eyes are glowing green they are under mind control, much like her brother once had been from the Changeling Queen. They wanted to scream but there was something about the Everfree this far out that blocked sound from traveling far, so try as they might to warn them their shouts were never heard. And then the four ponies under mind control were close enough they made their move, capturing the group. Slowly they had got up to them and simply knocked them unconscious, then placing bags over their heads they began to drag them, not the west they had been going but in a northern direction. The Crusaders were not going to let this go, they were not going to do what they would have been to do and run. Instead they followed them. Applebloom seeming to have taken this the worst watching her sister be attacked.

"We are not letting this go. Whoever is controlling them is going to pay."

Sweetie Belle replied to Applebloom with, "I think I know what is going to happen, and has happened, they are going to take them back to their master and then whoever is doing this is going to turn Twilight, Applejack, and the two humans into zombies just like they are."

Scootaloo didn't like this, "Zombies? Zombies!? There is no way they will succumb to dark magic. We know Twilight has dealt with it before. I mean come on how is somepony like Twilight going to fall for Dark Magic? She is tied to the element of magic, Applejack to honesty, they have had magic made to discord them once placed upon them, I'm sure they can fight it."

That was where they went silent once more. All of them felt bad knowing what that magic could do. They had seen it turn ponies into their opposite selves, now they had seen it turn ponies into mindless zombies. They were trying to stay close but not where they would be noticed. Night was approaching and they thought the further into the forest you go the worse it gets. And that was true. The further you went you got into older and older sections, the older it was the worse it was. Just as the sun was beginning to set the ponies they were following had come to a large ruin, they saw them enter and so they took a look around finding a small area in the back where the wall had been destroyed from years of weathering. Slowly making their way in through tunnels in the walls they came to a small opening where they could look out and see what was happening. They saw all the ponies who had disappeared and a few more than they knew to be gone that morning. Then they saw who was responsible. A male unicorn stepped out of the shadows, his horn was curved, his heart black as night. It was Sombra. It was thought he was dead after the Crystal Heart had been activated but it turned out to be wrong. He stood there towering over them and said very little.

"Equestria is mine. You unlike the others will not live as slaves but you will die."

Hearing those words Applebloom jumped up screaming, "stay away from my sister!"
