Eclipse if a form of magic that is made of the equal balance of Light Magic which most Unicorns use and Dark Magic like the magic Sombra used. But when Queen Chrysalis storms Canterlot Castle with an army of Changelings and strikes Celestia down he was tasked to retrieve Twilight.
