It was about mid day in Canterlot and the streets were lined with buildings burnt and in ruin. In the streets were a few changelings looking around for anypony hiding. Up in Canterlot Castle stood Celestia and Luna along with the Royal Guard in the Throne Room. “We make our final stand here.” Celestia says “We cannot allow Chrysalis to take Canterlot the fate of Equestria hangs in the balance!”
Outside in the town bellow the shadow of a Unicorn ran across a street. The shadow belonged to a Unicorn named Lunar Relic who was attempting to get back to the Castle to help Celestia. Lunar as he preferred became the pupil of Celestia a few years after Twilight became a Princess. Lunar had become very much like Twilight in the way he had a passion for learning all that he could. What set him apart from others was his outstanding abilities within what was known as the 'Eclipse' magic field a form of magic that was some where between the light magic of Unicorns and the Dark Magic of those like Sombra had. This was a hard field to learn and his ability is what caught Celestia's attention. The red Unicorn had a red book with some relic like symbols in front of a moon for a Cutie Mark. His mane a beautiful dark purple that was groomed neatly but messy at the tips. Down the center of the dark purple mane was a bright silver stripe. His tail was of similar color but in a cut much like that of Rainbow Dash's
“Oh I hope I am not too late!” he says to himself as he passes the gates. A few months ago Queen Chrysalis and the Changelings began storming all over Equestria and what would classify as a War had broken out. If Canterlot is taken then the last place that would be safe is Ponyville where Princess Twilight resides. Lunar slips his way up into the Grand Throne Room where he finds Celestia and the guard getting beaten by the Changelings. Lunar stayed in the shadows as he knew he would just be putting himself in danger if he leaped into action.
With a laugh Chrysalis knocks Celestia down as the rest of the guard becomes overwhelmed. They had lost and Chrysalis had won. With the Changelings gone and Chrysalis heading for the balcony leaving them for dead Lunar comes out of the shadows and runs up to Celestia. “Princess!” he says in horror
“Lunar... go to Princess Twilight warn her... there isn't much time...” Celestia pants “Go through the Everfree Forest it is your only chance at getting there in time.” she pants and Chrysalis turns to see the two
“Get that Unicorn!” she yells pointing at Lunar as the few changelings that remained closed in on him.
“Go Lunar Relic now!” Celestia says and the red Unicorn nods running out of the castle between two Changelings
“What are you doing after him!” Queen Chrysalis yells and the Changelings chase after Lunar.
Lunar runs into the Everfree forest after obtaining his notes on what he had discovered in the ruins he was sent to investigate. Soon he is trapped by the Changelings and he had no way out but one... 'I have to warp my way out!' he thinks charging his magic not noticing what he was standing in. the blue flowers... Poison Joke. As he activates the Teleportation spell he passes out from exhaustion.
Meanwhile not to far walked a newly appointed Princess Twilight Sparkle Princess of Friendship. She was on her way back from Zecora's when she sees the red Unicorn on the ground. Quickly she shakes him until he wakes up.
“huh what happened?” he asks himself looking around
“Good you are awake!” Twilight sighs “I found you on the path out cold.”
“Princess Twilight?” he asks looking at her in surprise “Is that really you?” he asks
“Well of course.” Twilight says confused by the Unicorns behavior 'did he hit his head or something?' she wonders,
“You look younger...” he says looking around “Wait a sec... this is the Everfree Forest as it was... 2 years ago...” he gasps
“Huh?” Twilight asks confused “Who are you exactly?” she asks him
“My name is Lunar Relic a student of Princess Celestia master in the Eclipse field of magic. Celestia sent me to inform you that Queen Chrysalis is on her way to Ponyville as we speak.” the Unicorn speaks
“What?!” Twilight asks confused “Chrysalis? That can't be my brother and Cadence got rid of her a while ago”
“wait what year is it?” he asks her
“Uh 2014.” Twilight says
“2014?!” Lunar gasps “But... that means I traveled 2 years into the past... could it be from the plant?” he asks himself thinking 'Oh!' he realizes something 'That has to be what the one prophecy meant! To stop the dark ones of change somepony must go back after a change. It means somepony would be sent back 2 years to stop them before they could begin their plan!'
“So you are telling me you are from the future?” Twilight asks
“Correct Princess Twilight.” he says “In fact not to far from now only 2 years...”
“But how? If it is that close how can you still be here there is not prolonged Time Travel Spell so how did you get here?” Twilight asks
“Well to tell the truth I have no idea.” Lunar says rubbing the back of his head. “I was in The Everfree Forest when within a patch of blue flowers I was trapped by the Changelings pursuing me. I attempted a Teleportation spell to Ponyville but some how instead of traveling to Ponyville I traveled through time.” Lunar then grabs the notes around near where he was passed out.
“Poison Joke?” Twilight asks “That is strange though...”
“Yeah I don't need to be reminded...” Lunar Relic says “The last time I had trouble with it my cutie mark wouldn't stop glowing.”
“So if it was Poison Joke... you are stuck here then.” Twilight says
“Yeah but at least I know what that one omen meant...” Lunar says just loud enough for Twilight to hear
“Omen? What omen?” she asks
“Oh... well you see... when I returned to Canterlot after a trip to The Castle of the Two Sisters I found an Omen in the Castle warning of what had happened it said; To stop the dark ones of change somepony must go back after a change. I understand it now.... it was around this time Chrysalis began her reign of terror... if we can convince Celestia to allow you to use The Elements of Harmony the whole thing can be prevented!” Lunar exclaims
“Well I know the Princess would love to hear this story...” Twilight says “And if what you say is true then we would need The Elements of Harmony.”
“But with them bonded back to The Tree of Harmony Celestia would have to give you permission to use them again.” Lunar says
“Well I can take you to Canterlot but I cannot guarantee that Celestia will have time for this.” Twilight says
“I bet she will if the fate of Equestria and the lands beyond hangs in the balance.” Lunar says following Twilight.
