Chapter 4: Silver Spoon

"Silver Spoon!"

The grey filly turned stiff.

Silver Spoon had regretted coming to this birthday party. She had seen her crush swoon over Diamond Tiara, and Diamond Tiara get the blessing of a lifetime. She'd also seen Sweetie Belle curl into a tiny ball and Button Mash edge closer to her every time he could. That was the only this she was staring to like about this party. But right now, the filly felt nothing but terror.

"Y-y-yes?" she trembled, her legs shaking from the presence of a magical being about to ask her to do something or say something which was probably utterly embarrassing.

"Truth or dare?" asked Discord, lounging on the beige sofa, looking at his hands.

"I pick truth," said the trembling filly, thinking it was much less frightening than picking dare.

"Why does everypony pick truth? Are you all cowards?" asked Discord, bringing up a fake spider, trying to scare Twist. Twist pushed the spider away, shaking her head.

"Actually," stammered Silver Spoon. "Snips had the been the only pony to pick truth so far. Other than me. It's even now."

Discord looked around at Silver Spoon, his eyes fell on her pearly necklace around her neck. Silver Spoon caught him staring, and said,

"No! You wouldn't!"

"Believe me. I will. Dear Silver Spoon, may I ask you a question?"

Silver Spoon rolled her purple eyes,

"You kinda have to. Yeah, just say it."

"Where did you ever get that most fabulous and shining necklace I see you are wearing?"

Silver Spoon's eyes glimmered with pure hatred. She looked over at Rumble, stroking Diamond Tiara's mane, and at Button Mash, leaning even closer to Sweetie Belle, accidentally bumping into Peachy Pie, who playfully hit him in the back.

"A-at a c-convention,"

"A convention about what?"

"Hey, only one question!"

"No, I accept it," said Diamond Tiara, brushing her lips with Rumble's.

"So, dear filly? At a convention of what?"

Silver Spoon yelped, her glasses steaming up. This encouraged Sweetie Belle to crawl out of her little ball, and finally, with a tear-stricken face, to look at Silver Spoon.

"Do you really want to know? Do you have to know?" she asked, only to notice Diamond Tiara nodding.

"Yes, I do," said Discord impatiently. He turned into a piece of paper.

"This contract says so," he said, his face turning into the parchment.

Silver Spoon roared in anger again, and Diamond Tiara cracked up. Scootaloo stared, wide eyed. Button Mash "OOF!"-ed, tripping over Scootaloo's thrown scooter, trying to get to Sweetie Belle.

"FINE!" she said, trying to catch Rumble's attention, but he was too busy looking at Diamond Tiara to even hear.

"I got it at a convention for..." her nervous eyes looked around the room, begging for somepony to say she didn't have to blurt out an answer. But, like she expected, nopony did.

"Well, it was more of a celebration."

Walking into the grand convention building, Silver Spoon smiled. Finally, she was alone to go to this convention. Finally! A banner in yellow letters (which was a bad choice of coloring) read,

10th Anniversary of Sapphire Shores

Silver Spoon looked around, amazed to see posters of the pony of pop, statues, and even some of her own music. With her mouth agape, Silver Spoon aimlessly wandered through the huge building. She had never been inside, nonetheless actually at a convention there, but she was glad her parents had let her go. Sapphire Shores was one of Silver Spoon's favorite artists, and she had already bought tickets with her own money. Going on a Saturday, Silver Spoon wore her best dolphin necklace, knowing the pony of pop loved them.

After purchasing her newest album, singing one of her songs at the open karaoke, and getting a pin that had Sapphire's face on it, Silver Spoon decided to go check out the posters. She had envied Diamond's vast collection of them, and her friend had never given Silver Spoon one of the many she owned, even though she begged, offered to do things for her, and gave her her piggy bank.

"Posters for only 3 bits! Last ones!" called a salespony.

"Here, we have two posters for 6 bits!"

"We give you stickers and a poster for 4 bits!"

Silver Spoon stopped when she got to the biggest poster stand. There were posters and looked even bigger than Silver Spoon herself, and some that were her height. Silver Spoon asked,

"How much for the biggest one?"

"25 bits,"

Silver Spoon's mouth hung open.

"Excuse me? 25 bits?"

The pony nodded. Silver Spoon took out her remaining 15 bits. The pony shook his head, and walked over to another customer. The filly sadly walked away, annoyed and angry. Then she bumped into a pony wearing a blue cloak, and said sorry quickly.

"Why are you so sad?" asked the pony.

"Don't have enough bits," she sadly said.

Then the mare handed her fifty bits. 50! Silver Spoon tried to say,

"How did you get these many!" But the mare walked away, and she caught a glimpse of blue eyes.

"Sapphire Shores?"

With the remaining 25 bits, Silver Spoon bought herself that pearl necklace she always wore. It reminded her that she had met a celebrity, and the celebrity had been as nice and could be.

"HOW COULD YOU?" roared Diamond Tiara.

"You went without me! I hate you!"

Silver Spoon stood there, sad, not sure if she would ever be friends with Diamond Tiara again. But there was one good thing. Rumble walked up to her and said,

"You were brave to say that, you know?"

Silver Spoon blushed. But before she could pick who went next, Apple Bloom screamed.

"WHERE'S SWEETIE BELLE? WHERE IS SHE?"

Silver Spoon stood there, her mouth agape. But she noticed something too. Button Mash was gone too.
