Do you remember when you were little and you used to get sick? You know the kind, Headache, Vomiting, Sneezing, Coughing, the whole package. That's how it started with her too ya know. We thought it was just another cold that could easily be mended with some good ol' chicken noodle soup and some TLC. How wrong we were. Dear Celestia, how I wish it had just been a cold. But, after about a week of her not getting better, in fact she was getting worse every day that passed to the point where the vomiting became more frequent and it started to contain blood. Right then I knew something wasn't right so I immediately took her to the doctor. On that walk to the doctors office I don't think I had ever been that nervous before in my entire life. We finally arrived at the office and filled out the proper paperwork and took a seat. I could tell she wasn't feeling good at all, but she flashed me a little smile to try and make me feel better. I returned the smile and was about to ask how she was feeling when the door opened up and we were told that the doctor could see us now. We got in to see the doctor after only a few minutes of waiting but to me it felt like an eternity. After some tests and a lot of anxiously waiting for him to return we finally got the news that I never in a million years could have expected.
When he first said the word, I wasn't sure that I had heard him right. When he said it again my whole body went completely numb and I couldn't feel anything, I didn't WANT to feel anything. Cancer? You're sure that it's Cancer? No. NO, you've got the wrong report here buddy, my wife doesn't have Cancer! My wife, CAN'T have Cancer. I can't tell you how bad I wanted to lean over that desk and punch that doctor right in his mouth to shut him up and stop him from saying that she was sick. That she was dying. The only reason I didn't was because of her. I found those crystal clear blue eyes that could make even an Ursa Major tremble at the sight of their beauty looking over at me. Knowing her she probably wouldn't blame me though. She was always so kind, she was quite literally one of the nicest and sweetest ponies I had ever had the pleasure of meeting. And now she's being forced to go through this. WE'RE being forced through this. No matter what I was feeling at this exact moment I couldn't even imagine what she must have been going through. I think we were just more confused than anything. We just couldn't understand how this could have possibly happened, she was one of the healthiest ponies in all of Equestria. She would always mind what she ate and she took care of her body, more so than me. I should be the one with this illness. I should be the one dying. Not her. Anypony but her.
Now, for those of you who have never had a loved one who is terminally ill, you couldn't even begin to imagine the pain both physically and mentally that you endure. You will never know what's like to live in constant fear every single day of your life that at any moment on any given day it could spread to her heart or to her brain and then that's it, you have to bury the only one you have ever truly loved. You'll never know what it's like to be angry all the way down in your bones at the world for doing this to you. But you put on a smile and a brave face because you don't want her to know how much you're truly afraid. For those of you who have had to go through this however, words can't even begin to describe my sorrow and condolences to you. Nopony, and I mean NOPONY, should ever have to experience this wicked and horrible disease. We were now at the mercy of time, I could feel every second that began to tick away after we got the news deep inside my soul. I had always knew what to say to her in every situation that life had thrown at us, but for the first time in our lives I was truly at a loss for words. I don't have the right words to cheer her up this time.
Oh, what I wouldn't give just to see her smile like she used to. You should have seen it, whenever she would smile I could have sworn the wind would pick up just a little and blow her luscious pink mane and the heavens above would open up. Those were much happier times back when she would smile like that, I find myself reminiscing on those times quite often now. To most ponies she probably seemed like just another mare, but to me she was so much more than that. I would just laugh at all those foolish ponies in the street because I knew that none of them knew what it felt like to have their own personal angel walking beside them . What I wouldn't give for her to see herself through my eyes, then maybe she would have understood how much I love her. The same thing goes for me trying to explain what she does to my heart to anypony else. Not you nor anypony will ever truly understand how happy this mare made me. Not even our friends understood how happy the two of us really were. For you to try and understand how much I love and adore this mare however, I suppose I should start at the beginning. Back at the Ponyville Park on October 20th 2012.
October in Ponyville was much different than it was back in Manehattan. In Manehattan it was just another month with no big plans or events taking place. But here in Ponyville they had this tradition, um Nightmare Night I believe is what they called it. It's a huge festival where all the ponies dress up in costumes and give their candy to Nightmare Moon so she would eat the candy instead of them. (Now, since Princess Luna has changed her ways and has since been incredibly nice the festival doesn't really make sense anymore, but who am I to try and change tradition.) Anyways, ever since I arrived in Ponyville I haven't really spoken to anypony and I've kept to myself inside my house most days. The only reason why I get out of my house willingly around this time is because I love walking outdoors the cool weather. It gives me a chance to walk around and think.
On this particular day it started out as any other plain old day, but little did I know that my life was about to change forever. At around lunchtime I had a lot on my mind and was starting to become stir crazy, so I decided to leave and go walk around Ponyville park to think about some things. After I grabbed my scarf I headed out the door and made my way towards the park. The smell of Fall filled the air and slight breezes began to blow on the back of my neck. When I arrived at the park I was just about to start walking when all of a sudden, I stopped dead in my tracks. There before me flew the most beautiful Mare I had ever seen in all of Equestria. She had yellow fur, and a wonderful pink mane that seemed to go on forever. And her eyes, Oh Celestia how her beautiful blue eyes made even the most pristine diamond look dirty and old.
