midnight skies

It has been a week since midnight was brought into twilight's home. She has not began school yet because Twilight wants to see how far she is with school and it turns out that she is about above her age level in learning. Little midnight was also small for her age. She is only a month younger than Nyx . Speaking of Nyx midnight was now walking over two her new sister's room only to find Nyx hiding under the bed.

"Um Nyx twi said it's time for school" she said still not use to calling twilight "mom".

"I'm not going"said Nyx her cat-like eyes glowing from under the bed.

"Why tonight is almost hearts warming and I can't wait to find out the story behind it!"Middy said jumping up and down "plus spike said that it was going to be interesting" nyx groaned.

"I'm still not going there is a reason and you can never know" nyx explained.

"So your not gonna help you're little sister on her first day" midnight said giving Nyx the puppy dog eyes.

"I know I'm going to regret this. Fine I'll go" she said getting up from under the bed.

After a little victory dance midnight followed her sister to the kitchen where their mother and older brother were.

"You got her up middy" twilight said surprised.

"Yeah, yeah,  yeah can we just get this day over with" Nyx said sitting at the table stealing a muffin from spikes plate.

"I never seen Nyx like this she is always so cheerful  why is today so different" midnight whispers into twilight's ear.

"You'll find out soon enough" twi said. "Ok who is ready for school?"

"We are!" Spike and midnight said.

"I'm not" said nyx.

"Ok see you guys later and Nyx don't forget your job" twilight said ignoring what nyx said.

"I live for it" Nyx said sarcastically.

"Hey have fun the day will be over soon good luck don't send anyone to the moon like last year" twilight said giving Nyx a reassuring hug and smile.

They all grabbed their saddle bags and took off out the door.

"Good morning and merry hearts warming my name is miss cheeralie and why am I saying that is because we have a new student. Come in little one" miss cheeralie said.

Middy walked with a nervous smile on her face.

Before she can speak someone in the class started laughing.

"WOW another blank flank and this one is just the right size for a blank flank baby" diamond tiara yelled across the room making everyone else laugh. Midnight looked back at her flank before she looked down at the floor. Nyx the broke out of her depressed state and ran to the front of the class putting a protective wing over her little sister.

"Hey don't talk to her like that. Make fun of me ok make fun of my friends I'll stand up for them, but say anything and I mean ANYTHING to my little sister and you won't see celestia raise another sun. Do you understand" everyone was silent "I said DO YOU UNDERSTAND" everyone quickly nodded even diamond tiara.

"Good now lets get back to learning. come on midnight you can sit next to me" midnight was to shocked to say anything so she just followed nyx.

Even mis cheeralie was too shocked she just continued with the lesson.

Later it was lunchtime and everyone raced outside midnight coming last. By the time she came out everyone was already in their spots eating. She looked up to the top of a hill to find spike, nyx and a couple of other fillies and colts. She ran up top.

"Hi guys" she said.

"Hold on are you a cutie Mark crusader" said three fillies as they jumped in front of Nyx.

"Um no?" She said.

"I don't think you should be around nyx during this time of year" said the unicorn on the left.

"Oh yeah I forgot to tell you guys this is my new little sister midnight sky " nyx said walking over to midnight.

"You could call me middy or sky. Also I'm only a few months younger than you Nyx you don't need to adress me as your 'little' sister" Middy said poking Nyx playfully in the side.

"My mistake this is my SISTER midnight" Nyx said.

"You are so lucky I wish I had a sister around my age" Scootaloo said.

"Rainbow sure does act foalish" mumbled spike earning a glare from the Orange Pegasus.

The group ate their lunch talking about cutie marks when midnight learned that she was the only one without hers. Apple bloom having a hammer and screwdriver in an heart shaped apple. Sweetie Belle having a bell with music notes swirling around it. Nyx with a shield. And spike with a note and quill. Then she looked at Scootaloo's.

"Hey scoots what does your mark mean" midnight asked looking at the Pegasus.

"Weeell" scootaloo said looking back at her flank. It was a pure white dove  with its head turned to the side and the wings spead wide. " I don't really know how to explain it. I wasn't paying attention to what fluttershy was saying about it.

"Maybe if you tell me how you it I can understand" midnight said.

"It was a few months ago in the summer" scoots began.

### flash back

Scootaloo was standing dangerously close to the edge of a cloud. Next to her was rainbow dash and behind was a nervous Fluttershy.

"Umm rainbow are you sure this is safe" Flutter said looking to the ground below.

"Of course it is this is exactly how I learned to fly the little squirt will be flying home next to you instead of on your back tonight" said rainbow said ruffling scootaloo mane.

"I'm ready" scoots said getting into a stance.

"Alright remember wings out, hooves tucked, and steady flaps" rainbow said.

"Wings out, hooves tucked, and steady flaps got it" said scootaloo following the instructions.

"Ok squirt ready one, two, three-"

"WAAAAAAIT" Fluttershy cried out.  "She's not ready!"

"What do you mean she is practically a teenager she'll need to fly some time" rainbow stated.

"No she doesn't"

"Yes she does"

"No she doesn't"

"Yes she does"

"No she doesn't"

"What do you think squirt?... um squirt?"

By the time the two pegasi turn the filly was long gone.

"HEEEEEEEEEEELP!" They heard said filly yell.

They both jump off the cloud zooming towards the Orange Pegasus with Fluttershy surprisingly faster. The filly tries her hardest to fly but her wings can't carry her. She is seconds away from the ground.  Scoots closes her eyes knowing that this was the end. But everything stopped. She opened her eyes and felt the rush of wind grace around her feathers. How the rushing air slightly lifted her. It felt the same as riding her scooter.

She was enjoying the wind so much she didn't realize that she hasn't hit the ground yet. She then opened her eyes and noticed that she was no longer falling but she was rising up. She has never felt this way before it was like magic even when she stopped moving she felt the wind surrounding her. She loved the fealing it was meant for her.

There was a bright flash and her cutie Mark appeared.

#END OF FLASH BACK

"Wow no matter how many times I hear it I'm still amazed" Nyx said.

"That's the second best cute mark story. Right behind Nyx's" Sweetie Belle said. "I just entered the school's talent show, I came , I sang and boom cutie Mark."

"Well mine showed up when I was fixin' the clubhouse after the storm last month" Bloom said.

"Wait you said Fluttershy is your mom?" Middy question.

"Not really I'm adopted. Fluttershy found me a few winters ago"

Before anypony can say anything else someone someone rudely intruded on their group.

"Well, well, well. Look who it is the blank mark crybabies" diamond tiara said whith her new partner purple jewl. The filly was a dark purple with a short gray main and cyan eyes.

"Um diamond we got our cutie marks a while ago" spike said looking back at the others snickering.

"Oh that doesn't matter anymore because I like you guys so much that I found other ways to get under your skin, Clone colt"

Spike growled.

"Country bumpkin"

Apple bloom looked bored yet irritated

"Squeaky belle"

Sweetie frowned.

"Adopted"

Apple bloom and sweetie belle were holding scootaloo down.

"The classic blank flank"

Middy looked confused. 'What's a blank flank' she thought.

'Exactly how it sounds' she heard nyx yet her sister was not moving her lips. 'Telepathic mind spell' said Nyx smirking.

"And now we come down to the biggest one. The 'dangerous' night-"

Diamond tiara's bulling came to a stop when the class bell rang. Nyx was silently thanking celestia.

Midnight had to know what was wrong with her sis and she needed to know now.
